  1. I used the ultra lightweight....thats what the guy at rick shaw told me was best... maybe it isnt...i guess ill see!
  2. On friday i changed gearbox oil in both a z32TT and my car with a friend. A tip for people...i was gonna write a guide on doing it but didnt have a digital camera with me. Do not try and undo the top bung! Its impossible!!! we broke a ratchet spanner doing it! instead, undo the speedo sender, pull it out and a nice big hole will be available. Apparently the redline oil takes at least 500km to wear in. I have driven 250km, and this morning when the car was cold, crunching into 2nd and 3rd had completely gone. Even when i rushed a change. So yeah id recommend the redline oil.
  3. True Ill be doing the change 2morrow if i can get the nuts(!!) off.. I spoke to rick shaw performance and te guy rekcons for 33s like mine redline yellow(ultra lightweight) is the way to go. I was gonna get it done at hills yesterday along with the water pump and timing belt, but they stuffed me around and dont actually have it in stock.
  4. They only came in auto, if you are talking about the last shape. Although some people have been known to do manual conversions. My friend was gonna do a 2jz swap into the cressida along with manual. Turned out to be difficult, would have been a mad sleeper (in a major way!!) My parents have a grande. Cheap insurance, expensive parts. I rekon get an N14. Although i got a swift gti for my first car ( 18months ago, with the same budget.)
  5. Used a brand new auto mirage as a test vehicle for front wheel drive, auto, drifting techniques... Over and Over and Over again around a nice wet slippery corner. Also kept it in second gear, nearly every time i drove it for 2 weeks. My family hired a tarago to go to jenolan caves with another visiting family, and i was driving on the way back cuz my dad was tired.. Coming away from the blue mountains back to sydney, everyone was asleep, so i held between 5 grand and the redline in second for minutes at a time coming up some of those fun hills...no one woke up Also tried drifting in (taken when she was not home) my sisters 4cl camry company car tail comes out nicely due to cheap tyres just in case anyone wants to try..
  6. My gearbox crunches going into 2 and 3 when cold especially, and sometimes when going into 4-5. Its goin in for water pump/timing belt/gbox oil 2morrrow, should i use redline mt90 or lightweight shockproof? OR should i listen to hills and use that new fusch(spelling..) stuff? I would generally take their advice, but i get the feeling they are making more $$ on fusch than other oils which is why they push it so much, and after seeing the inside of their custom plenum, im not sure whether to trust what they say anymore...
  7. Anything u mount on the dash/a pillar has to be lower than the highest point on your dash. Tried to mount a 5' tacho legally in my old car, didnt work, but close
  8. According to www.flyn.com.au that cooler actually flows 800hp, not 600 as you quoted.... obviously a good thing
  9. Correct...some people like it some dont...i like the internal style rather than the external cuz its a bit less showy..if u know what i mean. An external shift light can be fitted, there are mounts and an output for one.
  10. Sorry, no pics, as i have not done it, but i have dealt with similar problems before, and going over the original material seems like the simplest way..
  11. Take a look......might correspond http://www.mr2.com/ARTICLE/HKSFCDat.html
  12. Yeah ill find out stuff like that before the final decision. Im gonna speak to people from the courts, another guy i know who has got off HEAPS of stuff...worse than me too.... Either way i need more time to pay it, so id fill out the court thing anyway, that will give me time to save and think.
  13. 'i wasnt thinking' meaning that i knew what i was doing, and more logical thinking should have popped into my head at that point. And i think you missed the point of the whole new road/new speed limit point. Im not stirred, im happy to read your opinion, thats why i posted in the first place If you follow the link in an earlier post, the reason for the road being resurfaced was to reduce noise. This was done at the same time as making it into a 50 zone, once again, to reduce noise. I never meant to imply what you have understood my comments as stating.... ie. creating 50 zone to raise revenue to pay for the new surface lol. I think enough has been said here...if i can get a pic up soon, i will, then ill close the thread(or whatevr u do with it when u dont need any more comments). People seem to misinterpret my posts sumtimes...easy mistake since there is so many now. Bottom line seems to be: i have heard of cases where people doing worse have got some type of concession in court, so i dont see why i shouldnt try as i simply dont have the cash, and would really like to keep my license, or at least lose it for a bit less than 7 months.
  14. Stick the material directly onto the panel, without removing it, over the existing material???
  15. Sorry, i though the skyline was the next best thing at the time. I now believe the skyline is a better thing The engine bay is cramped but as far as i remember, its not THAT bad... Ill take a look next time in in my friends Z... The looks are the thing that attracted me in the first place. I think they are the nicest shapes ever. Plus the engine sounds like nothing else...(skyline engines also have a very distinctive note of course )
  16. Once again, you have expressed your views, you dont have to repeat yourself like you drive me to do now, in saying, stay out of it. Plus your an enthusiast like the rest of us right? In your signature there is a speedo showing illegal speeds. I dont care if it was you, or anyone else, but im sure that you have broken the speed limit before, while 'SHIFT_back one and hitTING it' while in the confines of a city. If you are so adamant that 106km/h is too fast in the city, you want me to believe that you have never done that speed right??? Or maybe there isnt a long enough stretch for your 89 sedan to reach that speed in the city. Whatever the case is, ur a hypocrit. Understand?, Person? Dont reply.
  17. doesnt meggala have a r32 sr20 swap??? I know for a fact that i have seen him post up a pic of one...engine bay was so empty!
  18. Thanx for the support... It seems like the only reason for the resurfacing, policing, and low speed limit is to lower the sound levels...as indicated on the link.... There is no mention about safety at all!!!!! So my $1559 fine is mostly for noise polution!!????? The 50 zone and speed traps were openly put there for this reason according to the web site.... Wouldnt this be more reason to have it heard at court??
  19. Electrics, and MANY other problems that come from too much heat. Also workshops do not enjoy working on them too much as they have a packed engine bay, takes ages to get to anything, and therefore costs you more too. Their gearboxes(although similar to a skyline gearbox) seem to have serious issues. Instrument clusters have been known to warp/crack. Heater core has been known to leak(releasing coolant into the cabin) List goes on. As i said, look for 300zx forums. I ended up getting a skyline because it seems like the next best thing, and better in many important ways. Easy to maintain...cheapER parts...etc...
  20. It is hot in here. It may have been a residential zone, but if you read my post carefuly, i stated that its not residential as in houses with front yards and kids everywhere. Fair enough you have made up your mind about me, but you neeed to know the road to make a final judgement. I can take a photo and post it here, the people who have said my speed in a residential zone was way too high can then make a better judgement. Do u want this? Trust me for now, it may be residential, but its not what your thinking if you think that there are families with kids running around on the road. If the speed limit was realistic, the cops would not have a parking lot on the side of the road when they are doing speed checks, as average people driving along at what feels natural for that road are NOT doing 50. This link somewhat shows that the 50zone on the road i was caught on was actually to reduce noise, and not increase safety. http://www.clovermoore.com/issues/transpor...e_park_road.htm]Click[/url] Does anyone know where i can get statistics for road accidents/traffic infringements on particular roads?
  21. What you guys are saying seems perfectly logical, although, (even though sydneykid has said this does not happen in real life, and has a much larger chance at being right than me....) everyone who gets an aftermarket fuel pump says that their car drinks more petrol than before the pump. My car seems xtra thirsty compared to others as posted in fuel consumption threads, it is basically standard, and i have partly believed its because of the aftermarket fuel pump fitted.... Often even at lower revs(around4500) i see puffs of unburnt fuel come from the exhaust on lift off.. Do you think the increase in consumption is just in our heads(quite possible..). Is it possible for the standard regulator to allow more fuel in due to the aftermarket fuel pump (not sure how the reg works)? there has been a thread where people have complained about the fuel pump/consumption issue before.
  22. Silicon spray would temporarily fix it. My seals around the windscreen/rear screen have had too much sun too....when i have the $$ and time ill go to windscreens obrien or sumwhere like that to see if they can replace them.... maybe u should consider this?
  23. 300zx's are known for their reliability issues, especially the turbo ones, and especially the jap imports. That one is rare tho, if it is a manual, it will be the rarest of its kind. I was gonna buy one, i absolutely love the looks and the roof and the sound of the engine. After talking to workshops, importers etc, i changed my mind. Still a nice car if u have the $$ to maintain it. Its an extremely bad idea to buy a cheap example, u get what u pay for, and millions of things can go wrong. Check out 300zx forums...cant remember the address.
  24. Welcome to yesterday
