  1. So ur sayin if i saw a 95 ecu for sale sumwhere cheap, it would be a good upgrade (till i shell out sumtime in the future for a powerfc)? never knew this whole 95 1.5 series business... learn something new every day... I dont think skylines are rare..especially in sydney. Guess it depends what your definition of rare is....try last night, george street...must have seen at least 15-20 in 1.5 hours lol.
  2. Ill give the nrma help line a call...see what they say n post it back here in the next couple of days...
  3. Ask your local nissan dealer for a radiator cap, they will probably be able to get you an equivalent. I lost(dont ask how..) the cap to my radiator overflow bottle, and it happens to be the same one as used on nearly every nissan since 1994 according to the dealer. So yeah it was $12...ask about the radiator cap..
  4. S2 turbos are different, they spool up faster. A lot of people say the s2 turbo is not as good as s1 tubo, due to a plastic compressor wheel, but unless you intend on increasing the boost more than 10-11psi, in which case s1 & 2 turbos would have limited life, series 2 probably less life, that the plastic wheel is better. Its there for faster spool up, therefore the engine is more responsive. Even the r34 gtt has a 'nylon' wheel. As read in speed magazine(current). So i dont see why people bag the s2 turbo. Some people say it was for cost cutting, whereas it seems logical to me that it was an improvement, that nissan spent money on. But yeah, between a s1 n 2, get what u think looks better(interior especially...i think the s2 dash is much nicer) if u have the $$. If not, get what is cheaper, they are very similar.
  5. The main thing is i dont have the $$ for it, and i see that other people in similar situations have recieved reductions. If others can, then why cant i? Im sure there is a large chance of losing, ill post details either way, u may be a happy man in a few months. In the meantime, as i have said before, take your views elsewhere, they are useless to me, and i dont think anyone else gives a sh*t what u say about my case anyway ps. I would rather pay for legal help than scam it, i think i can afford $500 for a solicitor, just not $1559 for a fine, so i wont be wasting taxpayers money in terms of legal aid.
  6. Its funny you say that, cuz a karate chop is the parcel shelf hitting method of choice for us, lately *CHOP*!
  7. *im scared* hopefully ill get a magistrate who has the ability to feel sorry for someone! The system is pretty lame when things like that are allowed to happen... But the thing with the train ticket was, it was so stupid and small to start with... with me, its a bigger thing, imean with the whole *speed kills* line being fed to the community at large....
  8. yogi000: I remember that whole messup, and ther must be some way to get your own back. I know next to nothing when it comes to the law, but isnt it logical that if you were disadvantaged because of that serious mistake made by authorities, cant you take them to court for some sort of retribution, becasue im sure if the situation was reversed, the authorities would be after you! I dont just blame the cops, i believe most of them are just doing their job, and i dont have any bad feelings towards the ones who pulled me up. I think that if powers above them were doing their job, those police would have been somewhere else, saving lives. There were two cops standing around other than the one who actually booked me, so even if he was going to maybe put me in a lower speeding category, im sure he couldnt because of the presence of the others.. One thing i find strange is that they didnt even breathalyse me. I could have been pissed off my nut, and about to run over a group of pedestrians, and they would have done nothing about it. Isnt it normal for them to breathalyse when they pull u up for any reason? To me, it seems like the cop wasnt doing his job, im sure catching drunk people is more important than catching speeding people, so they should at least breathalyse everyone they pull up!!! JimX, thanx for your sympathy. In the next week i will be trying to get some free legal help. I dont know where to go tho I dont even know if it would be worth getting someone to represent me, or just representing myself. ie, if the legal fees will outweigh the benefits or visa versa..(if that makes sense.) Does anyone know where i could go for free legal advice? Im pretty confused at the moment.
  9. My parcel shelf rattles like a cricket with the sub on too....this is how to fix it, as discovered by a friend in his car...punch the parcel shelf as hard as possible it will stay away for at least a few hours of the sub being used.....
  10. If u do end up takin it out yourself, post that ur doin it....id like to learn about it....
  11. Hey just wanted to add that my friend got his Z32 gearbox(very similar or the same as ours) done(all synchros, his gearbox was gone in a big way...) plus a $1000 clutch put in for altogether $2000 as far as i can remember. So the gearbox labour and parts cost around 1k. Also consider that a z32 is probably more fidly to work on. Give hills a ring...
  12. I dont know if this will help, since it is a slightly diff situation, as you had a much higher blood alcohol level....... but a friend of mine got caught for .04 when he was meant to be .02, he got off completely free. He went to court with his father, and got character references from his school to help his case. The fine was going to be $1200, and the suspension was going to be 3 months. Plus, the only reason he got pulled over(i was in the car, drunk, thinking that he didnt drink at all...) is that one of our stupid female friends hung out the window for a few seconds, just as a paddywagon was behind us.
  13. To floody, to clear up a few things.. "as i never speed on that street" Oh, you just speed where there aren't cameras then? " - Didnt mean to give that impression, i dont speed in residential zones, as i know its unsafe and innapropriate, i dont want to run over someone as much as you dont, however, ill openly admit, i do speed sometimes, as im sure everyone has when i see a nice stretch of deserted road. I often drive at around 3-5 in the morning, which is when i regularly drive over the speed limit in mostly non residential zones. "i would like to show the courts that i have learned my lesson to GET OFF".... I am not hoping to get off scott free, im hoping for a reduction, and i obviously want to show that courts i have learned my lesson to increase the chances of that. I dont mean to provoke you, your comments are pretty aggressive, but wouldnt you do the same if you were in my place? In regards to my description of what i did as a slip up, i think you interpreted that wrong too. I mean slip up as in i chose to do something stupid, i chose to be in the wrong, and i dont usually do that, otherwise i would have lost my license a long time ago. I didnt mean it as in oh yeah i accidentally went 56km/h over the limit, which is how u have seen it. finally, floody, i asked people here for help in terms of their opinions, not an attack on everything i say, so no offence, but maybe you should read and think about things twice before automatically thinking the worst of something. I dont really have the cash to pay the fine straight away, and i really dont want to lose my license for so long. So it comes down to me pleading guilty(obviously) then stating my situation and hoping for the best. Ill try and get some legal advice beforehand, and post it up here for others.
  14. its not a lesson to be learned, as i never speed on that street, it was just a slip up. Although, i would like to show the courts that i have learned my lesson to get off... And just to clear things up, it is a residential zone, im not sure if i should tell everyone what exact street it was, but it is a new two laned road, divided in the middle, with a sports stadium on one side, and apartments (not houses with front yards and kids running around) on the other side for part of the way. The zone had a higher speed limit previous to the road being resurfaced. The speed limit is fair enough, or even too high when it comes to sports events being on, as drunk people stumble all over the road, BUT i have been through the street many times over 2 years when events have taken place, and not once have i ever seen speed checks being taken out, however, the police always sit there on weeknights, when no people, and not much traffic is around, and always have a healthy line of drivers lined up on the side of the road, caught for speeding. It is obviously just one of those places that the police use to make their money. Im aware of this, which is why i have never been caught along it over the past few years. It is on the way to my gf's house, so i drive along the street minumum 8 times a week, as i stated before. I just slipped up this time, i dont know what i was thinking. People here have different views, but to me it seems like the best bet is to represent myself at court and hope for the best... I cant say not driving will be detrimental to studies or work, as they are both 10 min walks from my house, but, i do always drive me mum around, she has complications with her back.... do you think this would help..?
  15. yea but its not just the fine, its the license suspension that is killing me...if it was the fine i wouldnt be half as worried....
  16. yeah well i thinkin that is the way to go, filling out the court thing on the back of the fine.. i dont want to put things off, or waste peoples time if there is no chance of getting off, but it is a lot money and a long suspension.... apparently u can write directly into the place ur meant to send the fine to and by the time they reply it will take an extra few months too...
  17. I was driving through a 50 zone which i drive through at least 8 times a week, for the last 2 years, and which i know police always do radar speed checks through doing 106km/h. SO yeah, i dont know what i was thinking, i wasnt even in my skyline, i was in my swift gti, which was just about to be handed over to the new owner. I have had one previous offence, a red light (light was orange, but whos gonna argue with highway patrol...) which happened when i first got my license, about 2 years ago. im 19, and still owe about 11grand on my car, which is going to take me approx 14 months to pay off from now. I will lose my license for 7 months if i just pay the fine, which is $1559, rego is also due for the car in one month. so should i: 1. sell the car? 2. keep the car sitting at home for months unregistered? 3. Pay the rego and get friends to drive me around in it in the meantime so the car doesnt slowly die from no use 4. have the case seen by a magistrate, and hope for some type of reduction in fine or license suspension, and then decide on rego etc.. I dont have the $$ to pay the fine in 21 days anyway, because of personal loan repayments, studies etc... Does anyone think i could possibly get let off a little? Comments are appreciated, i dont know what to do, and my parents are going to kill me when they find out, but at least they cant blame it on the newer, faster car (skyline) as it happened in my gti....
  18. 60kw at the wheels But, the car has now been SOLD
  19. This is not just another ricey monster tacho, on this, u can record blocks of your driving(racing...) and replay them in real time, or in slow mo etc. The tacho also supports line lock. The point at which the shift light flashes can be changed for each gear. This is a classy tacho, and is quite rare, eepecially when compared to the hordes of auto meter tachos u see around.. Comes with mounting gear, instructions etc., i am selling becasue this was on my swift gti, as shown in the picture, the car has now been sold, and i need cash, so this is being sold seperately. retail when new: $700 selling price $300
  20. thanx for your replies, my car has more than 50k on the odo, but according to the service history, it was changed about 50k ago, just to clear up the confusion. Im still not sure.... it would have been done about 3 years ago i think. ill tell my mech to change it if it looks aged i geuss...
  21. Hey, i was just wondering if i should change the timing belt at the same time as the water pump, which i will be needing in the next few weeks, as it has to be removed anyway. The thing is, the timing belt is only 50,000km old.... but i feel like i might as well, BUT i am very poor right now so even the extra $90 or watever for the best would be a stretch. Help me make up my mind?
  22. Thankyou!
  23. Yeah thats what i was thinking, but then again, i think the general reason why more wear occurs in the city is because when the engine is idling, it runs quite rich, which in turn increases the amount of petrol which makes its way into the oil, in turn breaking that down faster, creating less protection for the engine and more wear. Oh well, at least other people think its ok, im still half way about it. 2night i drove my swift at 5 grand for about 3 minutes, that felt bad. Maybe im just paranoid.
  24. I have done this in my car, when i had head unit issues. Works well. BUT, u should maybe check out the voltage that your portable player puts out, and whether the amp is meant to recieve the same voltage. Also, most discmans/mp3 players start to distort quite easily when u turn the volume of the output up, which is easily heard in the car.
  25. I have recently been on a few long trips, ie up the coast, and dubbo(the zoo is good!) On these trips due to a lack of traffic, and me taking the long, back way a lot of the time, the speeds often stayed up around 150km/h, equating to about 4300rpm (cant remember exactly) for extended periods (more than half an hour at a time). I was wondering if anyone could tell me how bad this is for the engine, especially in terms of piston ring and bore wear. I felt bad leaving the revs so high for so long, but then again, because most of the time i was not accelerating or decelerating, is it true that the sliding friction between the piston rings and the bores is small because of the lack of accel/decelerating, and therefore not so bad? This question has also been in the back of my mind in relation to my swift gti, where on long trips, revs stay even higher than in the skyline due to the shorter gear ratios.
