  1. Update: regapped em, checkd all my coils and there voltages and all that still runs like crap
  2. Uhm, i guess springs is the way those are set up, could be aftermarket ones i dunno, but i dont think mine would work without the "buttons" so yours wouldnt Hmm, plugs regapped to .8, coil packs fine, its still slowwwwwwwwwwwwww
  3. Ah ok cheers, i wasnt sure how careful id have to be with em, they seemed to be spring loaded or something, moved around alot. Ill emry em b4 i lob em in
  4. arghh!!?!?! Its about to start raining im gonna have to put them back in. Spewing if i put them in and some 1 tells me 1 of them is rooted or something Hmm i did a search for checking the ohmage on em and i got.. all around 1.4-1.6 @ 200ohm setting, but the person who wrote in the topic didnt say what ohm increment to use so im not sure if these are what they should be.. But there all consistently the same so..
  5. Hey just about to regap my plugs so i thought i may as well post some coil pack pics up here see wat you guys say/reckon. Just interested in knowing if these will cause me any trouble thx Note: i will not accept any responsibility to self inflicted wounds caused by the absurdly long load time of this page
  6. i cut the sides off mine. Im pretty sure as long as the numbers/letters arent obscured its fine (was in the past anyway). Mine originally had washer like things on the front plate that looked shocking and on the back plates it had a extra bar made up and was mounted down and to the side. Just cut the sides off them both and they'll fit fine.. Dunno about the dodgyness factor but i havnt had any 1 defect me so
  7. Really, haven't heard of same problems, same owner multiple cars before. I think it sounds like a good place to start to, ill regap them to .8 tonight... Right after i buy a new feeler gauge thing.. mine has only .4 and .6 left on it, stupid elements. Err to regap u just tap them on a brick or something right? Thats what ive done in the past, or will the iridiums disagree with my handling?
  8. I get alot of people who tailgate me with those dazzling xenon front lights that blind u when they go up hills. And get alot of people who tailgate me (when im on the limit), posibly because my car can go fast and its not, who give me 10-20 seconds of high beams in my rearview just before turning off. Nothinnnnnnnng annoys me more. Do they WANT me to get out and knock them out or what -_-
  9. Hey dude if you figure out the problem make sure you post back here ok. Im running pretty much the same set up and have the same problem. Had my fuel pump replaced and after that it ran alot better but now its gone crap again so i need to start with some other ideas (which unfortunately there are alot of, my mechanic is convinced that my timing belts off by a gear or 2, but im 90% sure hes had to many spanners drop on his head)
  10. Whoa thats a really obscure question haha um go with 98 octane, so optimax, premium or synergex (the most expensive crap.. Faster and better for the car, less crap in it, more refined etc)
  11. That could be a problem if they start getting tighter on the rules associated with "drifting". Car immobilized/impounded for losing control of it ?. I can see myself on an icy morning, trying to accelerate out of the way of some spacko in a ford caning it through a roundabout, pushing the accelerator to hard and having the back whip outa degree or two.. Or perhaps driving on a dirt road and having a kangaroo jump out.. "flashing lights"... "Sorry officer i lost control".. "No, you saw that new movie and your "Tokyo drifting". 48 hours + broken windows, brake fluid on bonnet, no stereo and no rims later i can "drive" my car again. Not cool
  12. Just browsing through the herald sun on the train and noticed this, thought some people might be interested in some (relatively?? i think??) recent developments. P-Plater restrictions, now car impounding whats next. "New laws will give police powers to impound, immobilise or confiscate cars driven dangerously Burn-outs, doughtnuts, drag racing and other anti-social and dangerous road offences will be enough for police to seize a vehicle. "Cars driven by first-time offenders will be held for 48 hours through impundment or on-site immobilisation" (Wouldn't be to keen on that, would come back wheel-less engine less windowless and stereo-less most likely)". Drivers caught a second time within three years face losing their cars for three months. And a third hoon-type offence within three years will mean permanent loss of their wheels. In which case it will be sold by the state of victoria which will keep the proceeds." So i suppose they do give you three chances and im not really worried about any trouble myself. But i do think there going a bit overboard with all these new road rules and regulations. Ne wayz just thought it might be handy for ppl to know
  13. http://members.iinet.net.au/~robi/public_h...skylinebook.pdf That has alot about it
  14. Its good that there doing it out of revenue's raised from speeding fines. Some of those things raise absurd amounts of money and are highly innacurate. How much is a licence renewal anyways?
  15. eh, fair enough. Admittedly, im young and that but my other reason for disliking vicroads is that there current laws will let me drive my 13 second gts-t and not the 18 second 69 valiant we've been restoring. 2 years is a helluva long time to wait. Does any one know i the policies on modifying cars will change? Because as far as i know at the moment you are allowed turbo upgrades and other legitimate power increasing modifications as long as you dont engine swap. I guess they will change this? Or will there be no change, in which case there will be a whole lot more hotted up 4 cylinders burning around. (not to mention there goes mods to my skyline) thx
  16. Nah just kidding around on the driving 170 on my L's. Was on my P's, on the stuart highway so it was quite legal.. and fun As for it being a joke to myself, im almost 20 and am yet to get 1 parking ticket, speeding ticket or into a crash, (not counting the trees i used to give a nudge to from time to time in the golf). Actually i thought it was good to be able to laugh at yourself, go figure Just for my own interests sake how is it that comments on me driving faster and more dangerougly in a lower powered car related to power restrictions.. Because thats what i said and you seemed to think it was "PRECISE"(ly) the reason for there being brought in My golf had 110 HP.. My skyline has what 200 ish? My golf accelerates from 90-110 in 4th a hell of a lot faster than my laggy skyline does.. Power doesnt equal speed... Driving does. And if its reduction in road deaths that make you so anti-P-Platers then its quite absurd. Wipe off 5 and save live... How about "LOOK BEFORE YOU WALK"... and perhaps for drives, "INDICATE BEFORE CHANGING LANES" and "GIVE WAY TO YOUR RIGHT AT TOUND-ABOUTS".. P-Platers generally have no problem remembering to do these things... Its the wanky 30 year old business men or the middle aged hatch driving women who seems to struggle with these so much. But oh well there not even gonna apply to me because im already on my P's, its just everywhere i look i see the "KIDS THESE DAYS" attitude from any one off there P-s (or going through a mid-life crisis) and it sickens me. Humm as for the medal.. i would like one.. And my name engraved on it.. Vicroads is a joke Edit- I would prefer a new alternator - if youd be so generous
  17. Nah that was my L-Plate car and i was making the point that you dont need a fast car to hoon. I got a speed limiter in mine to, so it woulda been only 180. And the 170 wasnt the limit of the golf, twas a beasty little thing. My "high powered" car, the skyline, handles alot better than my golf.. Driving up to king lake the golf would "aqua plane" quite badly in the wet, and on tight corners the body would roll so badly it felt like it would have tipped had the soggy suspension in the back not bounced around, not to mention that the golf doesnt exactly have crumple zones. In my opinion the golf is far more unsafe The target shouldnt be on hoon cars it should be on hoon drivers.. Or at least on teaching drivers to handle the car better.. Reductions in crashes is more important than reduction in P-Platers who can do the 1/4 mile in under 15 seconds.. Did i mention i got my P-Plates with only 15 hours driving experience in one car and no paid lessons? (even im admitting that thats a joke)
  18. Agreed on the opinions of older drivers. I'd also like to mention that I used to drive alot harder in my 78 golf than my skyline.. in a 78 golf it doesnt matter if u stack it.. Have never been over 120 in the skyline.. got 170 in the golf.. Crappy car doesnt mean u cant speed or hit trees or drag old ladies in barina's off at the lights.. I think our streets are far more likely to run rampart with ricers than hoons anyway. I see 10 Hyundai Excel's dragging me off for every one decent performance car... Ban hyundais.. Oh 89 skyline GTS-T Type-M is what i have and according to most websites its exactly 1 kw under the limit. Some other sites ive read have said that the 91 models are slightly lower and have been equal to about 10 kw under the limit but who really knows. Alot of what you read on the web is BS. Have had alot of cops pull me over though, none questioned me as to whether or not i can drive it. Anything above a gts-t 33 is over. Although the GTS-t is as little as 5-10kw over zz
  19. Yeh sorry meant ultimate not premium. Filled up with ultimate today and its better. Doesn't stutter anymore and pulls harder on boost (althought not as hard as it did before putting optm.. weird..) Probably some rooted fuel related sensoor somewhere doesnt like the optimax and makes my car frig up or something. Ill try the mobil tomorrow and post back if i notice any difference
  20. Hey just wondering if any one could tell me if optimax is 96 or 98 octane. I normally fill up at BP on 98 octane (premium) but filled up on optimax today.. Since filling up on the stuff my car has lost all power and feels like it did before installation of my new pump (slow as crap, no power at boost, farting etc).. This has all co-incided with my alternator/battery getting consistently worse, and i was just wondering if the optimax was 96 octane, because that would probably make more sense, than my battery/alternator getting worse so fast thx
  21. the 125 kw per tonne rule is true, i checked it all out 2 months ago when i bought my 32, and its posted on the vicroads website (also 3 liters per tonne, but i dont think you gotta worry about that) The r32 gts-t is about 1 kw under this law. As for any new laws, they wont apply for people that are already on there P's with a turboed car, if they do introduce them, only to people who get there P's after its brought in or the car (better be that way anyway, bad enough i cant drive my valiant, id love to see them try telling me i cant drive a car which i just bought)
  22. If it helps, i had the same problem on my 32 (and on my 78 golf) both times it sounded like a dry bearing, or like something that is spinning and needs greasing. Was noticeable with clutch in and changed pitch at different speeds, Also was only noticeable turning right at first then eventually noticeable going straight to. $450 is insanity but i suppose everything is expensive on imports. Can you just re-grease them or are they sealed.. in which case they wouldnt need re-greasing, but re-placing anyway
  23. Ohh fair enough just got the link working in mozilla, hadnt seen it earlier, assumed he was talking about the type i was above. dunno anything about these kits but they look like they'd work almost as well as the turbonator...www.turbonator.com... buy 3..
  24. oh fair enough, mustnt have been concentrating very hard when i was replying to your post hehe. Might as well add that the cooler kit has very nice lips great clips and byadiful hoses. Youll need about 3 additional clips if you dont have the original ones or for added security, my original clips kept losening themselves
  25. i have seen and read about some electronic turbo charged applications. Which run off the battery to compress air instead of exhaust gasses... Supercharger is probably a more politically correct termination for them Not sure if this is the same thing your talking about but.. Basically any claims are way exagerrated and for the money these things are far from worth it.. But i suppose they do work, i read somewhere in a magazine that they run 2psi.. 2psi is better than standard atmospheric pressure i suppose but, well, most ricers in 4 cylinder magazines (perhaps i wanted a honda civic b4 i wanted a skyline, cant quite remember why i picked one up) boasted of horsepower increases, of something like 10hp.. They cost around $600-$900 so.. waste of money Maybe itd have a wine though... You could set up a BOV somehow i guess with a switch here and a relay there.. If that would work then theres a massive pull for the rice factor.. but with N/A BOV's out now who knows ^^
