  1. ahh but my car doesnt have a bov and doesnt make the queer noise. Is it because of a larger turbo size? Like more air banking up and rushing back into the turbine when ur intake(?!?) closes makes the noise right, so a bigger turbo would produce more of that and make more of a noise out of it?
  2. Hi um i have been wondering and debating with my friends for quite a while, what makes the BOV's (or the majority of) on VL turbo's sound so bad? Like normally i dont mind the tshhhhhhh sound but the VL turbo's go tsh tsh tsh tsh tsh like in fast succesion at a high pitch and its hilarious. I have noticed HKS sequential BOV's which i assume let the air off out of 2 openings and thought perhaps this could be the cause of queerness. Also i was wondering if it could be that the BOV is like loose or far to small or something? Like its slapping open then coming back down on itself and being slapped open again by the air rushing out. Could it be like absurd amounts of compressor wheel surge or something? I know thats not really skyline related but well i dont know a huge amount about turbo'd cars and have been laughing at VL's for like 5 years trying to figure out why they (or the vast majority of) them sound so gay. ( and they got like r31 engines in em right?)
  3. yeh we serviced it and such so all thats good, ran some injector cleaner through it to, um in a couple of house (5) ill be home and will take a pic of the engine bay and post it here.. although i wouldnt know what to do once its attached, e.g. what to crank it to and such. ahm ill take it to a dyno i guess so they can adjust the boost and such for me, and get them to check out the cpu and all that, hope it doesnt cost to much, i still owe $10000 on the car zz
  4. well i fancied i did see a drop in boost at these rpm's but i think mainly it just stays at the same spot (about 5 out of 7). Only work that has been done is the exhaust and new suspension. I dont know what my boost is set at as i dont have a boost gauge and have very little knowledge on cars made after 1985 so that i am unable to put one in.
  5. um it couldnt be like the wastegate or something could it? What about the Computer that organises fuel distribution and such? Any way that could be misfunctioning or set up wrong? Its a pretty standard looking unit, sitting on the top of the engine where u take off the spark plug cover, right? thanks
  6. Spark plug gaps are all good and spark getting through is sweet. Ah 3000 rpm isnt down low to me, drives me nuts having to drop the clutch at 4000rpm to take off fast -_- I thought maybe its just the turbo maxing out after 4000rpm, but then i thought it was unusual that it seems to kick back in again at 6000 rpm Oh well thanks for your help. Cant put a new turbo onto it due to power restrictions damit.

Hey guys, my turbo kicks in around 3000rpm and u can feel the power increasing rapidly to 4000 rpm, but it seems to just bottle kneck or max out or hit a wall all the way from 4000 through to 6000 rpm at which stage the turbo kicks back in (and i gotta shift). I cant afford a dyno at the moment as im still paying the car off ( and the $1800 insurance -_-) so any suggestions would be much appreciated
  10. ohh like up in the guard? coz ive heard of that before, guess itd be better than top mount and such... FMIC would set me back $500 for a cheapish 1?
  11. hey, i recently bought a r32 gts-t (19 years old and its my 4th car) and well im confused. My other cars have been a 318 valiant pacer and a 78 vw golf as well as a 1991 toyota corolla (was sorta loaning it) and the technology leap in the skyline has got me sorta confused and weirded out. And dammm it took me about 45 minutes to change the spark plugs in the thing, (after about 20 minutes trying to find out where the frig they were) had to pull apart all the piping for the turbo and different hoses and tubes and such. Anyway, where the flip is the intercooler? I assumed it didnt have one? I have noted it has a crank ran fan and a thermatic one, is there any like intercooler integrated into the radiator or something? I dont like the idea of running the skyline without one, especially the way i drive it and will get a front mounted one if i can. Also whats some mods that people do to these things? its got suspension and a 3 inch turbo back exhaust but i dunno what else to do that will provide a sufficient enough power gain to justify the cost. Oh and no BOV's!

    looking to buy a r32 gts-t, 5 speed manual. Must be low kilometers (0-90000) with only basic engine mods (on P-plates).
