  1. A compression test is most meaningful when the engine is near normal operating temp, and you have WOT while cranking. I guess no manifold is the next best thing to WOT.
  2. I'm pretty certain "tie rods" and "tie rod ends" are the same thing. Try Repco for a set.
  3. Try "twiddling" the switch - it probably needs cleaning at the contacts
  4. So, it's a multi-purpose switch - you just have to think of something, and then flick the switch and "something" will happen. Actually, my money is on a rear wiper switch.
  5. sent
  6. OK, checked with Nurse Debbie, who has responded thusly: So, it would seem there shouldn't be a problem.
  7. IIRC, the Zs have the bowl of the sump in the middle, while the C210 / Skylines have the bowl near the front. This may be the advantage of using the Patrol L28 over the 280Z L28.
  8. Well, that would solve the dilemma of the "1 week early".Roy, not really, I trust you (though millions wouldn't!). More so I can get enrolment forms to those who haven't previously given.
  9. There is also another input for the ATTESSA, from the TPS. There was an article on Autospeed (sorry, dirty word for some), quite a while ago now, about how the G-sensors affect FWD.
  10. Adz, Mavric I don't think you have emailed confirmation. I particularly need you to so I can send you an enrolment form to fill out before you get there. Tx
  11. Got my letter yesterday too - for 18/12. I'm checking with Nurse Debbie, but I reckon it won't be a drama, as they always need blood, and they particularly need it over the Xmas culling season on the roads. My only concern is for James, who would be 1 week early. (Strangely, Debbie initially told me Dec/3 was the eligibility date, which is why I confirmed 17/12. Anyway...)
  12. I have a RB25DET in my GTS4, pushing 180kW at all 4. What I've done with mine: Slotted rotors all round. Braided brake lines (probably the best mod) all round. I used to have problems with pedal fade, but the braided lines seem to have almost eliminated that. Had a day at Simmons plains a while ago, and the brakes worked well all day. And, if you keep the fluid fresh (ie change annually), it should pull up well all day, every day.
  13. Never felt the need to get vacuum assist on my GTS4, even with a HD pressure plate.
  14. 1. Disconnect the CAS, and crank the engine until the oil light goes out, and the gauge shows pressure. Then you know there is oil around the engine, and you can get oil pressure. Then reconnect CAS and fire away. 2. Even at idle, an engine with basically no exhaust makes a hell of a racket (I know, I did it when I fitted a little L20ET to my R30).
  15. Not sure how the 2 are related... But, the reservoir takes Auto Trans fluid.
  16. Gee whiz, how many times has this question been asked?
  17. R30 hatch has a trailing arm with disk brakes (handbrake in the caliper), and, IIRC, the 280ZX had a similar setup. R30 sedan has rear drums. When I did the rear disk conversion on my old 180B SSS, we manufacture a bracket to suit the calipers. It used 3 of the bolt holes that hold the drum backing plate (so you don't need to remove the axle to fit or replace it). So you have two options.
  18. Try some KYBs. But I can't guarantee they are going to like such a low suspension setting. Part of the roughness of the ride is quite likely the suspension riding the bump stops. You really need to raise the ride height a bit.
  19. Try measuring the heights with the swaybars disconnected.
  20. If your battery is continually needing a re-charge, replace it. Also, get the alternator checked for correct charging rate. An overcharging alternator will destroy a battery, so that the battery cannot maintain charge. Skylines are notoriously sensitive to voltage - one wiff of a bad voltage and the ECU chucks a wobbly.
  21. R32s run a full mechanical (cable) speedo drive system, R33s have an electronic speedo.
  22. Pretty certain when I did this job, I left the exhaust manifold on, but removed the inlet manifold simply to get that little sh!t of a bolt behind the inlet cam wheel.
  23. Can someone provide instructions on how to attach pics as thumbnails. The last time I attached a pic, it took ages and was like a full-screen version in the post. Tx
  24. IAC gives a constant high idle speed, the AAC valve gives a "hunting" idle speed. tazr32 has "hunting", so it's more likely a problem of a dirty AAC valve. (On a 32, the IAC valve is the one underneath the throttle body. On a 33, it is under the inlet plenum. The AAC valve hangs off the back of the inlet plenum on both models)
