  1. Have no idea if it's the same smell, but my R30 L24E running ULP does a similar thing. It doesn't have a cat, so it could be sulphur oxides. Maybe your cat has died.
  2. The RB20DET in my GTS4, with 3" cat-back, T3/T4 hybrid turbo running around 10psi, and FMIC, punted 145rwkW.
  3. If you are running a stock ceramic turbo, then it's probably safest to get the signal at the compressor. Then you can be safe in the knowledge that the exhaust wheel is not going to let go and de-glaze your bores. If you have a steel exhaust wheel, then it's probably best to know exactly how much boost the engine is trying to ingest, and therefore pick up the signal at the plenum.
  4. Why not reset the timing for standard boost, then play with the bleed until it runs well. I don't think it is ever going to run well at 14psi, but it may run well at 12 psi. And running well at 12 psi is FAR SUPERIOR to running against a brick wall at 14psi.
  5. Where are you shopping?Checked www.discpads.com , and they have slotted DBA909 (standard) for $183 each. You can get Bendix Ultimates to suit from Autobarn for around $100.
  6. Yes, sskylinee. The HICAS has its own diagnostics. I'm sure it's on here somewhere. Otherwise check out meggala's site. try here: http://www.overflow.250x.com/diagnostics.htm
  7. There's 2 hoses under there. 1 is a short section, which could probably be rteplaced with any appropriate diameter hose. The other is a formed piece, and is probably only available from Nissan. You can probably reach under the manifold and feel which hose is broken. Have fun getting either of them off.
  8. 2WD sump - it's a 4WD after all. And they are generally autos. Other than that, it's a RB25DET - just grab one from a R33.
  9. DBA 909 rotors. available as slotted, and 4000 series (www.dba.com.au) DB 1170 Bendix pads (get the Ultimates).
  10. The NDSOC have their second annual Targa Tour of Tas next Feb. ATM, there are nearly 30 cars and 50 people booked to go. As it stands, there are still a couple of spots available for cars / people to participate. But all details need to be finalised by 15 Dec. If you are interested, email Matty - [email protected] . For details of the trip, which includes a day at Simmons Plains, check out www.ndsoc.com.au .
  11. I'm running a Wolf 3D 4+ on the RB25DET I fitted to my GTS4. On crappy 95 octane and 10psi, pumping 180 kW thru ALL 4 wheels (probably 210 rwkW). There is a straight plug-in replacement (like PFC) available for the R33.
  12. Done with a RB25DET (from a Stagea) and Wolf 3D. All up, around $8G, and that's with me doing the majority of the labour.
  13. Different ratio, isn't it? GTS4 = 4.375, GT-R = 4.111 ? Still, haven't as yet had a problem with the front diff, despite now pumping 180 kW thru it.
  14. The losses thru the drive train will diminish as a % of power as the power increases ie don't expect a 300 kW car to have the same % loss as a 100 kW car. In general, at the numbers we are dealing with here, add 1/3 of the rwkW to get fwkW, so, you should have approx 270 fwkW. If you use a Dynamic Test Systems dyno, they have a procedure to accurately determine fwkW from rwkW.
  15. Unfortunately, you can't legislate against stupidity. And Albert Einstein said it best: Only 2 things are infinite - the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not so sure about the former.
  16. Have you run the diagnostics?
  17. No, nothing to do with it. If you look at the cattledog again, you'll see that the model is 909, available in "slotted", "x-drilled" and "4000".I got some about 3 years ago, plain 909s, slotted.
  18. Typical knee-jerk reaction of imbecilic bureaucrats, who wouldn't know one end a gearstick from the other. Did no-one remind them that these morons, who have thankfully removed themselves from the gene pool, were breaking already existant laws? What makes these pen pushers think that adding a new law is going to make any difference? Why don't they try the carrot approach; sure as hell the big stick approach isn't working too well.
  19. have you replaced tyres recently? Check tyre pressures.
  20. How "adjustable" is your suspension? It's possible that the weight distribution is all wrong after the ride height was adjusted. It's probable that the shocks are not matched to the springs. Stiff springs and soggy shocks don't really work well together.
  21. SK, I fitted the Whiteline GT-R HD rear bar to my GTS4, and it's actually a bee's-dick smaller than the standard bar. Also, it's heavier (weight-wise), because the GTS4's bar is hollow.
  22. The GT-R are all the same, the R32 GTS is different to GT-R and R33 GTSt / R34 GTT. R32 GTSt is same as R33 GTS4.
  23. The front bar on a GT-R is about 140 mm wider than the GTSt. All the other bits - lights, etc - should come close.
  24. also thinking of electrolysis between the iron in the bolt and the aluminium in the caps.
  25. Where were you all??
