Turbo 180Sx ! Anyone Driven One?
iplen replied to Rb Liner25's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I have driven an RB30 powered Patrol, it was pretty bleh, and yet my little RB26 Skyline goes alright... This story about street racing, although cool, is pointless. A mate of mine has a 180 making 270+ awkw.. They are a great value bang for buck, they seem to be a bit held back from the factory with some very simple mods they will be all over any standard Skyline in a straight line. I would definately recommend it. -
Cars can only be imported if that model was not sold on the ADM, and the Spec V as a variant of the GTR would not be eligible for import apart from as a private (eg owned in Japan for 3 years and bought in as part of moving to Australia) I am sure there are people who know far more than me, who could clarify, but even the 15yo rule won't work because that was changed too. Even R32s manufactured in the same months as the ADM ones cannot be imported AFAIK

Not saying FLD is the last word in GTRs, but anyone else heard this or got any more info?? How "Super Light" can we expect? 1700kgs??
-
Perhaps post this on a Japanese forum, seeing as there is as much chance of driving a Vic Registered car in Tokyo as there is of registering a SpecV R35 in Aus... Hope you didn't pay too much..

Fuel Gauge In R32 Stoped Working
iplen replied to r32gtr92's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Isn't that where GTR fuel gauges always sit? -
I have finally managed to get the wife to get rid of her much loved Charade, it is a 3cyl, 1 litre fireball. Last time it was on a dyno it made 300fwmp (front wheel mouse power) This was her first car, bought in about 2001, It has done SFA for the past 3.5 years since we bought her current car, prior to that it just ran around Bathurst. *1994 TE *171,000k *15 tri-spoke mags with brand new tyres *06/11 rego *Clarion CD/MP3 with fusion speakers (300fwmp was with this turned off) *Will throw in 1 standard R32 GTR turbo... *Fuel economy is REDICULOUS (we replaced it with a current manual Corolla that uses more fuel) however *Uses some oil (not excessive) *no air con *no power steer As I said above, my wife loves this car and takes great joy in pointing out that every time my cars break I can start this and drive it. It has never let us down and will be sorely missed by 1 of us. After $3000ono, or will also direct swap it for an R34 GTR PM for contact details. Ian

Thanks Dan the Man, I will send a PM to you later and follow it up. -
Anyone looking please refer to here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/346507-gtr-parts-and-tough-good-offsett-wheels/page__p__5602251#entry5602251 There may well be a reason for the delays I am experiencing, and I will happily have my posts deleted the day that I have my money or PFC, but I have made several attempts to contact Chris re this to no avail.

Gtr Parts And Tough Good Offsett Wheels
iplen replied to RB26DEBT's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Money paid on about 12/12, still no PFC, or contact, PMs sent, FB message sent, Australia post hassled, Member reported to Admin. If anyone is aware how to contact Chris Dickman (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/profile.php?id=100000420664848) please let me know or suggest that he either returns the money, sends the PFC, or ensures there is space on his front lawn for some gearboxes, and a cop car. I am happy to accept any story he can come up with as far as great Aunts dying etc, as long as I see my money or PFC. -
I have gone into the relevent for sale topic http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/346507-gtr-parts-and-tough-good-offsett-wheels/page__p__5578951#entry5578951 and have clicked "report" also gone int othe members profile and clicked report, either way there is an error to say that it cannot be established what I am trying to report, and will not allow me to go any further... Either way, if this is working or not, how do I report RB26DEBT, have paid money etc, promised goods would be sent 10 days ago, have not had contact since, I have sent 2 PMs, and a Message on FB (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/profile.php?id=100000420664848). I am giving 14 days (Thursday allowing for public holidays) before submitting a police report. Is there anything in the way of IP information etc which can be supplied to make life easier for me when approaching the police? Also any suggestions as to the best way to go forward, thanks for your help Guys, no rush, but by Thursday would be great. Ian

R34 Gt-R Confirmation
iplen replied to sikmatesubwoofa's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Why replace a radiator on a 10y.o car? it is nowhere near a power level where it will require it, and is running 15psi on ceramic turbos, There are few things about it that seem sus. I very much doubt you will find any R34s advertised as GTRs that are not (other than idiots with GTTs who do not know any better) to do a conversion is more than the car is worth. As others ahevsaid, you get what you pay for, keep an eye out in our own for sale section, generally because of the amount of GTRs on here, and a slightly more real world approach to pricing you will get a far nicer car for your money, it may just mean waiting a little longer. -
Selling - Greddy Trust Nissan Skyline V35
iplen replied to CLUBFX2's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
V35 does not mean it is the "luxury" one, it is just the V35 series, no different to the R32, S13 etc etc -
We are talking in the wet?? But seriously, if it was going to be a traction issue would expect it at lower revs (as in when it first hits boost) or to require more grunt, unless there is an issue with the car, eg rear alignment. If the car is lowered for example, you suddenly have a HEAP of camber, which means less tyre on the ground, and therefore more wheelspin. A mate has just gone from 240-280 atw in his 180 (with a pretty pathetic LSD), and he is having trouble upto 3rd, but still at lower revs. Have a look at your Dyno sheet, where ever the power curve starts going vertical, that is when you would expect traction problems.

Does PF have mods???? If any of our aforementioned "Nazi mods" saw that sort of carry on here no one would be on the forums for 10 days, and after editing the only part of each post left would be "Wayne Besanko" ... And does anyone know what the go is with performance forums? Miguelegent is right, it appears to have disappeared..

Help Me Decide R32 Gtr Vs R33 Gtr Vspec
iplen replied to overd0se's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I have an R32, and my mother has an R33 (yes you read right) both are v-specs, I bought an R32 because I wanted an R32 v-spec II, but the R33 IS the better car, you will generally get more for your money, and the late R32s weight 1530+ kg anyway. I personally find that the benefit of the R33 is that it isn't as taily. I have only had the 32 on the track, but a bit of spirited driving the 32 wants to be thrown in and be driven through slightly tail out, the 33 at first feels far less willing to come in, but that is because it isn't trying to spin on you and head for the fields. If you want the original Godzilla the 32 is it, but as a car I would choose the R33. -
So.. A formula 1 car with 950hp, and weighing 620kg takes 3.8 seconds to reach 200... meaning in a car twice the weight you would need about 3000hp. Not trying to rubbish you mate, and good on you for getting this thing back out of hiding, but perhaps just swallow some pride on the 0-200 claim, and admit you got bum steered, no-one is going to suggest this thing is slow even if it can't pull that time.

Awaiting delivery of PFC, was only a stop gap because of radiator issues stopping it from making the Dyno, end of the day though an ecu sees the air going through the AFMs and the amount of fuel coming out of the chambers and adjusts on that. Road speed cannot really be used as an accurate variable because 100k with a 20k head wind or 20k tail wind gives you a massive difference in air coming in, hence AFMs.. In 2 weeks it will be trivial anyway
