  1. DO NOT USE INTERNAL HEX WHEEL NUTS!!! Had these on a rally car I bought and after heating cooling and a few wheel changes (fair enough rally car gets wheels on and off a lot more than a road car..) the pressure out on the inside of the nuts cracks them. If you simply think about the pressure is being applied as you tighten and loosen you will soon see how easy this can happen.... It may be poor quality, it may be a lot of work and all the hot cold, but I will still never use them again
  2. Assuming reasonable mechanical knowledge eg line up all the marks etc, my mehcanic mate who will be supervising (damn him for being injured and not just doing it himself) asked me to check there were not any tricks to be aware of when changing TB, such as one cam needing to be set and turned as the belt comes on the other one, tensioners that need some leverage on them rather than just being allowed to set themselves etc. Thanks for any assistance.
  3. This does not look like a private sale to me...
  4. Adding a set of R33 Brembos is not hard, even V-spec production did not start until 4/93 pretty sure... Why do people like this who should know better advertise a car that could have never existed? Some poor bloke is going to buy that car and be over the moon at getting 1 of 1303 V-spec IIs for a steal, then in years to come find out he has been shafted (probably should have investigated it earlier, but some people still trust car dealers
  5. So I had seen this car advertised and was pretty keen to go have a look at the build plate and perhaps suggest they change the advertising... However, it even has the V-Spec II model code on the firewall... I am not suggesting it is Edward Lees doing the dodgy here, they may well ne innocent victims but if you were going to this much trouble to make a $18000 (est as a non v-spec II) car into a $22000 wouldnt you at least try to get a car that was built the right year, or claim it as a V-spec I?
  6. My concern about surfs and 80 series being old would go doubly for a 60... Mid to late 90s is where I am looking, if not later
  7. Is it purely the kw/tonne figure that rules things like Surf etc out of being imported nowadays? I though they had to meet a few criterea and that it was possible if they met a certain number? I will be looking for something like this in 6-8 months, I would love an ARX 4 Stag, but I know there will be several things I want to do that it will not/should not do... Surfs that were imported are all pretty old (or scarce) nowadays, and the next option is Aus delivered Navara/Triton/80 series etc, which are either big money or done a lot of work. Is there anything like this coming?
  8. Thanks doo doo
  9. Not sure if there was a better place for this... After torque settings for dump nuts, both ends of manifolds etc, had a look in DYI etc, but no luck
  10. So.. Head gasket??.... "old mate was real honest, it was perfect apart from the headgasket going, and that was only because of the plastic bag that got stuck in the radiator, and nothing else is damaged at all, he was real sad to see it go, he really wanted to fix it, because it is a cheap fix, but his wife just had 10 kids and he has to buy a people mover...." There is no such thing as a cheap Skyline... Let's pray that with this one clearly having major issues it will not be fast enough to get wrapped around a pole...
  11. I am seriously tempted to see how much I can get for my V-SpecII, in NSW and pay to bring this over!!!! but my wife would probably kill me before I got to enjoy it... Any offers for a Gunmetal 32 V-SpecII? this thing is a F___ing bargain!
  12. Hey buddy, am looking on behalf a friend, no photos, no links, probably help a lot to include either, okay, my mistake, link found
  13. White R33 GTS25t, spotted on riverlett hill (great western near Lithgow) about 5:30, out the side window of my Wife's bog stock '07 Corolla 1.8, while I went round the outside as he was using racing lines and looked to be having a go, sorry I overtook you in a standard shopping trolley, twice, in corners while your mate watched on, But we will pretend it was the straights that matter hey?
  14. Pair of -7s on the way, I have decided to stop reading suggestions etc about which way to go, for me it came down to 7/9, I spoke to GCG, said "I want 300awkw, without to much stress, but, will be used for street, and circuit etc, want a car that is responsive and will not being going chasing more later as it is not ALL about horsepower for me and this car" he said -7 all the way, so that was it. Initially they will go on with only mods being: exhaust from dumps back Apexi Pods HKS Hard piping kit HKS EBC was previously running upto 20psi (on ceramic turbos ) but will probably wind it down to 17-18... Fuel pressure reg When we know how that goes it will have run on the dyno with a Top Secret ECU that I scored, if that behaves it will stay on, eventually PFC as well as maybe some injectors. Results will be posted.
  15. I am sure there are several thousand people think that every day, got to think that $60k for a 400r is a bloody steal
  16. The ongoing death of forest rallying is a sad but true fact... Although amsag is not doing too bad. Perfect example is Bega rally, 2003 entry was capped at a bit over 100, this year the event did not cover costs due to poor entries. I think the problem is that people with money used to go gravel rallying, but now the people that would have dirt rallied go Tarmac rallying, possibly because they more often than not are promoting their own business and there is simply no way they can justify dirt rallying to any accountant
  17. Fatz has a good half of his arse cheek?
  18. Just check what this sort of thing will do to your insurance costs etc.
  19. Silly cheap for a car with some collector potential and top nick too
  20. I have rallied Subarus, Own a shitbox Liberty wagon, and frankly, it outhandles my GTR, but this time is poo, R33 has (to be fair) 230ishkw, and I am guessing less than 400nm weighs 1500+kg, was on stock tyres. STI has 221kw (aus spec) 404nm wieighs 1505kg (In full street luxo trim) and was on sticky tyres (Even stock tyres are sticker than stock on R33) This was a Spec C, with work done to it... I am a Subaru fan, and would still buy one again, but if I was Subaru I would not advertise this.
  21. 15mm lower on one corner???!!!!! and yet you are asking about wheel alignment etc?? How if this car is on standard suspension is one corner 15mm lower, further to that what does the VDC etc think is going on when it is already seeing Gs going back and left?? DMS is good, MCA is BETTER. used both on rally cars. Suspension setup and tuning effects a car so much more than you will ever believe. My RS Impreza rally car, with DMS was unreal on one setting, but I felt it could go softer, we took 2 clicks (of 20) out of it, spent the next 2 stages chasing the front on hard pack, then the road would turn muddy and I could not make it go straight, back one click, and heaven!!!
  22. If I was Subaru, I am not sure I would be advertising that the up and coming model (with several extra add-ons that will not be on the production car) achieved this time.... http://www.egmcartech.com/2010/06/09/video...urgring-in-755/
  23. Thanks for that Victory, could not have answered it, Pics attached, was not aware how much the Chef had planned for me yesterday
