Checked the front of the exhaust cam for wear? how is the ignition timing be set? don't use the loop at the back of the motor, get a plug lead and shove it up coil #1, then run the light off that, with the TPS unplugged.

Buy a rental in a Uni town (Bathurst comes to mind because I live here) after your $25k deposit rent will damn near cover the mortgage, if you heart really is set on a GTR get a 33, if you have a brain buy a 34 GTT with the other $25. Pay what you have been saving on the mortgage and some basic improvements on the house, 4-5 years (or when you are ready to buy a place with the future Mr or Mrs Wigout, sell the rental, hello healthy deposit. I know nothing about financial planning, but I am happy to come up with ways to spend your money

Mrs got a current Levin SX manual about 6 months after release, has about 80k on it now, and the closest I can come to faulting is that it is a little sluggish (100kw for 1400+kgs..) and 6th gear is too short. I believe they may have changed the ratio on 6th at some point. Saying you are looking auto though, don't bother... This engine struggles with a manual, the 4 speed auto is attrocious! New Impreza seems worth a look too..

20psi is way too much for standard turbos.... so the only 2 probs I have I asked for, the front of the exhaust cam can be an issue too. The drive gear gets worn and the ignition timing will move, and that can be hard to pick up, these cars are 20 years old now.. I love my gtr, but in all honesty stick with what you have or go something newer like an Evo. If you are adament though $5k should be ample, and get it checked by a mechanic

I went from Terraphone to Peltor, and would not go back, I was running an Arai with the Peltor headset in it, so none of the ear muffs but was SO much clearer and easier to listen to. I imagine Stilo would be much the same, it has been a while since I looked but the Peltor was well worth the money over the Terraphone.

In 2 years mine has done turbos (running 20psi, thought they were N1s...) water pump and exhaust cam. My biggest problem is that I hate working on it, with practice I could get the front turbo out and in in 5 hours. Nothing is an easy job. However for a daily car what you have now is 5x the car. The only benefit I can think of with the gtr is that sometimes, in a straight line you will have awd, which if it happens to be raining, you are silly with the throttle and there is something solid, might make a difference.. In every other way the 25gt is a better car

So it isn't low kilometres at 81,000. No one believes odometres on these things any mate so just be honest from the start, this just proves that you will happily lie about the car to sell it.

This may not be how I will do mine, but I still draw inspiration from it, this car in the flesh is impossible to fault, execution, presentation everything about this car is perfect. Shame to see it not being appreciated online.

Name a race series where awd has not been outlawed, or is not the only way to win. Sierra was more than 200kgs lighter and had similar hp (towards the end) and got smashed. ATCC-We all know what happened there BTCC- awd had about 100kg penalty, then got banned JGTC- awd outlawed WRC- 2wd last won a round in late 90s Superlap- awd dominating.. The list goes on..

Import laws in Australia do also make it harder/more expensive to import than Unzud, (still protecting FaltyDores from Godzilla) I very much doubt it is 3x more though

I am with God Speed on switch 2, it fits so well because most switch holes are a uniform size, all cars must have adjustable dimming on the dash lights in Aus, but I am not sure how often it works in imports. The symbol on the first says traction control to me, car, skid marks, adjust up and down... But that seems a little far fetched....

That is why you see cars listed as a statutory write off, with not a single scratch... Apart from that, one of the most knowledgeable importers on here has answered, and you appear to know that he is correct.. face the facts, if the car was insured it should have been written off, pay your premium, get your money, and move on

I bought a Stagea because a GTR was out of the question and never regreted it, price insurance, and if you are still keen get searching!! And welcome aboard

RB26 being the most unreliable is countered by the fact they are also probably one of the most abused and hardest used. They get revved harder, they cop more Gs, they get full throttle earlier in a corner while the oil is sloshing around etc. There are plenty of solutions that do not require the engine to come out.
