rb20-calais

the standard vl 6 cylinder box the (MF5?) is the same strength as the rb20det box, so dont bother with that. The RB30ET box (MX7) is the same strength as the RB25 boxes but they are older so you might have to recondition or find a good one. One of my mates had 492rwhp with a standard MX7 in a VL turbo that cam second at horsepower heroes at the summernats (PSI-03L) he upgraded because he wanted auto. I would go for the one in better condition and cheaper because I am sure they are very similar and will definately hold 350-400rwhp no problems. Hope that helps, Evan

if you get a hand controller it will show your boost levels but it may be hard to see them when you are actually boosting. If i was you I would get a boost guage anyways just so its easier to monitor. Evan

Some **** stole my digital camera at my brothers 21st so I dont know how I could get a pic... I will have to borrow a camera... I will give a quick rundown.... the same structure exactly... lug between barrel and stock item isnt sanded back flat on my one... i have started to sand back the cast area smooth so I can polish it. hey, Mods to fit are: Addition of longer throttle cable, lenthn TPS wires, shift fuel pressure regulator from the side to the end of the plenum and weld up the old regulator hole. Bolt the cold start sensor to the mount on the plenum and run a flexi pipe from the stepper motor to before the throttle body.... Thats all Evan

Hey, I bought this plenum for my car when I was in the "i need parts" stage but now I need money to put the parts on my car and I need a car to drive so I am willing to sell it to get enough money to start finishing my car. I got the plenum from NZ and it is the same as the ones in the pic below as the guy who owns that car designed/made them. There wre only ever five made. The car below has over 400bhp on 12psi so they must work well. I have a NZ magazine with an article on the car below and the buyer can have that. I wont part with it for anything under $500 so please no rediculouis offers. The plenum isnt polished like the one in the pics below but can be done obviously. I was actually thinking of getting cams to bring my car on boost earlier. Maybe all I need is the gears. Is it worth getting both inlet and exaust on an RB20 or should I just do the exaust? Evan

Steve Janda engineered my rb20 in vl with front mount, pod, exaust, etc and he was good to deal with. He operates out of his house in Alfords Point, Sydney. Top bloke but i heard he doesnt engineer crazy stuff. Might be good to give him a try.... $380. Evan

i wore out a single plate nismo brass button in two weeks when i got my car . . . it musnt have had much left in it but god damn it chirped fourths and was savage... i loved it. If only I could get another, I should of kept it and had it rebuilt. Evan

i was in my mates rb20 180sx the other day... he was drunk so i was driving... with 4 people we beat a modded r33 (big fmic, etc) ... i launched like shit and had 3 car lengths by 70km/h they are quick and get good traction for 125rwkw (what my mates got on the dyno) .. i know the guy with the r33 and i think it has around 150rwkw maybe a bit more. But my RB20 vl with 132rwkw still used to beat my mates 180sx with 125rwkw ... must be the weight over the tyres and soft suspension (not soft anymore)... also i ride the clutch i dont fry the tires.
