they are the easiest setup to change i have encountered. the rears require a bit of fiddling to "screw" the piston back in, but they are still 10 times easier than my ford rears that also screw in and you need a special tool to do it (which i didn't have).
-
Rotarys are effectivley a 2 stroke engine (even thought they don't actually have a stroke) that is why they use more fuel but that is also why they produce so much power with such small displacement. How about these apples;
-
Did you hav ethe aircon on while you were going to the servo? If you did i think i know where the water was comming from.
-
They don't have to and i'm not saying that you should, but you can't expect CAPA to make a kit for skylines because the market would be tiny as there is a better cheaper alternative. The flip side to not going down the same path as everyone else is that it will cost you big time because everything that you do has to be custom made and you are talking big $$$; hey i know as I'm running a CA which has pretty much no off the shelf support any more but then i have the advantage of having a CNC machine centre at my disposal. i was hoping someone would bring up Top Fuelers. The original reason they ran supercharges would have been off the line response as the turbos back in the day were laggier than there present day cousins, also there wasn't the electronic trickery that exists today (antilag and such) to help get them off the line. The reason they aren't used now is because top fuelers are making close on 10,000HP these days and how laggy do you think a turbo that would support 10,000hp would be when a T51R only supports around 1000HP. That's like a turbo 10 times as big as a T51R (this isn't the whole truth though as Nitro-Methane produces oxygen as it burns so not all the oxygen for 10,000hp has to come from the induction). Here's another interesting fact; the supercharger on a top fueler takes between 600HP and 800HP to drive (depending on gearing). and here's some more i found;
-
LOL Why would they? they come with a more efficient turbo setup.
-
Talk away, It pretty much the luck of the draw though as i was saying it depends on the history of the engine. So unless you are going to start with a rebuild then there is no guarantee that the engine you have will be reliable. The thing is that CA's are relatively cheap to rebuild, for around $2500 + machining (but i have some parts already) i can have a bottom end that will easily hold 250-300kw+

S*#T I'd better stop posting, i made the top 20.
-
they can try, but they can't do it legally; all it needs is a court case to prove that.
-
Sorry i should have written "SOME" not "YOU". Just out of interest who do you think would be on that list cos' i can't think of any, well any that i haven't just look at.
-
Sorry but i must as he just said every thing i have been thinking for the past 8>9 months. +1 And that is meant as +1 to what he was saying not my post count :lol:
-
i would love to see a line up of the top 10 Average posters per day. Cos i know you would be claiming Steve would be up there but his average is only 6.4
-
well you need more moderators then, that's easily solved. You may knock NS.com but it is one of the biggest performance forums in the world so they must be doing something right, and despite popular opinion they do actually have some reasonably tough moderators.
-
the problem with the wasteland because it isn't a section it's a single topic you can have a concise conversation about a specific topic because it gets lost in the rest of the dribble. P.S. Damo was just an example that came to mind not meant to single him out, it must be his average of 11 posts per day that drew my attention.
-
Pete I think the answer is to create an Off Topic SA section so people can create nonsense threads and and every one else isn't exposed to them. Do what NS does and make the section a non post count section, hell if this had been done from the start Damo and a few others would only have 5 posts and not the thousands currently they have (not that post count means anything). We are all member of the "modified/performance" car community but that doesn't mean that we have to always talk about cars.
-
They will either be made to comply with ADR's when they are constructed or in most cases they won't comply.
-
Hear Hear And here's some more proof;
-
I don't know the cost as I haven't had any done, but the eyebrow height is the height from the centre of the rim to the edge of the guard. Because the fibreglass guards have a different edge position that is why they need to be engineered.
-
Don't forget you will need to get the assembly balanced as well. I'd also just the bore a light hone.
-
Bonnets: Some are some aren't but there are ADR compliant ones out there. Guards: The eyebrow height will have to be engineered but apart from they are fine
-
That's alright the people that need to know, know the validity. There are no details about my car anywhere online. There is a build thread on NS but it hasn't got any plate/VIN numbers on it and that is the way it'll be staying. Besides the details in the box that I have edited out are entered when you put the car on the dyno anyway so they shouldn't be taken as gospel anyway.

I knew something wasn't right in the day because it was sssooooo rich, if you remember the exhaust manifold was also cracked at the turbo flange, when i took the turbo and manifold off it all made sense when i saw the 10mm plug had falled out of the compressor outlet. Yep was getting full boost just over 4000 before but now it's more like 3700-3800 rpm, but at the cost of kw. Was making 216kw with the old manifold but with the factory manifold it was making 203kw, with some more tuning and the extra psi or so we got it back to around the same figure as the old manifold. Earlier power = Torque so would have gained a few Nm in torque, but i don't have a graph with that on it.
-
That was 185 kw with a 10mm hole in the intercooler piping where a blanking plug came lose and fell out. That won't be happening again, now with added loc-tight. What's with all the CA haters here, anyone would think it's a skyline forum. The only problem with CA's is that a lot of them have had a hard life and they haven't been well maintained, If you get one that's been treated with respect they make a good RELIABLE little power house. Have a look at the graph below, that's on a standard bottom end. Here's the new graph from a couple weeks ago on a 36 degree day, and that's after i lost 10kw by going back to the factory manifold which we gained back by 1 more psi in boost, also gained 400 RPM in response with the factory manifold;

Hello All, Just wondering who is coming out to the Modern Reg' day this weekend. For those who don't know about the event it a consistency based event and doesn't depend on outright performance. Basically you have a practice session in the morning and then you set a time based on your practise times. For every 0.10sec you go slower than your set time you get 1 point and for every 0.10 you go quicker than your time you get 2 points; the person at the end of the day with the least amount of point wins the day. There are 5 sessions during the day that consist of 4 to 6 laps, this is good for cars that aren't set up for the track as it reduces the chances of you having cooling issues. There are a few car requirements like fire extinguisher, tow hooks and blue triangles you also need a helmet but you don't need a harness. If you are interested have a look here; Descrpition of the Event SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS Entry Form Program of Events

Hey Dave (Scandy); Cheaper than a rebuild and a slight upgrade. http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...howtopic=370422
