New Budget Motorsport Coming To Adelaide
D_Stirls replied to GROWLY CUSTOM CNC's topic in South Australia
Yep that basically it, you can't do any engine mods or any ECU tuning. this class has come about as it getting harder and harder to find parts for the old pre HQ's models which is what the old standard class was made up of. So this class ahs started up and the old standard class will eventually be phazed out. There would be restrictions on tyres as well but i haven't read the new rule book yet. Too right, the old 265 HEMI was very quick and that would have actually been making less than what we always thought it was, but the old chassis was very light as well. -

This is the car that we are building; http://www.toyotatuned.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=271273 -
Well you'd hate this thing then cos' it has a dirty old V8 in it
-
you guy's do realise that it's supercharged as well and that is why the idle is up and down like that. P.S. i think it sounds absolutely TOUGH, but then i did grow up around BIG V8s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJNM3sHcwBY...re=channel_page See the front mount at 0.24

Hey Dave, If there is nothing wrong with your turbo then I would keep it fit a boost controller and go see Jeff (SpeedLab) for a remap. For around $500-$700 (my remap was around at or below the lower end of that scale but SR's need a daughter board installed which the CA's don't and the board costs around $250 by itself) your current turbo you will make around the 190rwkw mark. I have a feeling that you will be near the limit of your AFM at that point and you won't want to go to much further with your standard injectors, but you should get there. If you want to go bigger turbo then you will be looking at at least 550cc injectors (but 740cc are the same price and they will give you more scope for improvements in the future improvements) remember that with 4 cylinders you have to go bigger with your injectors to make the same power as a 6 as there are less of them. You will also need to a bigger AFM; once again you have choices a Z32 will support around the 320-350rwkw mark but costs anywhere from $200-$300 where as a SII RB25 AFM will support 230-240rwkw and will cost you around $50, and really even if you go for a GT2860RS you won't be making 230kw without cams. If your still after up upgrade i would suggest the GT2860RS as a GT28R (A.K.A T28BB) is only ever so slighlty bigger than what you have on there from the factory I would forget about the GT2871R as it's too big for what you are looking for as it will support 230-240kw without cams and 250-260kw with cams but come at the cost of response (full boost at around 3700-4000 depending on cam setup). Anything else just ask

as mentioned above, here is the one of main problem with the modified scene in SA. ENGINEERING IS TOO EXPENSIVE: And you might ask yourself why is it so expensive? The reason is because regency will only accept engineering report from 3 engineering firms (even though they can't do this legally; I will explain below). So these firms can charge what they like because you have no choice; if you want to have your car engineered then you have to take your car to them. This works out well for everyone except the car owners themselves, the engineers get to keep their business extremely profitable and regency get to collect as much revenue it can for the government by keeping themselves constantly in business with cars that would easily be granted an engineers report but for the fact the owner doesn't have the $1000's of dollars to get the report. For this same reason mod plates won't work in this state either; To be granted a Mod plate in the eastern states you must first receive a engineers report. The thing is in the eastern states to get an engineers report for a whole car would generally be around the $1000 mark not the $6500 marks you would be charged here. This is highlighted by the NS.com project car (I know you don't want to hear about anything NS.com but hear me out for a sec). Loz went to get the car engineered here in SA and he was given a quote of around the $6500 mark, which of course he didn't follow up on. He then moved to Queensland last year, he then thought he would get a quote for getting everything mod plated including the T67 and the Haltech; and the quote came to be around the $800 mark through Autosport engineering in Sydney. Now I said earlier that regency can't refuse a report from a certified engineer; this is because engineers are certified by "Engineers Australia" (of which I'm a member) which is the peak body for our industry. By regency refusing the engineers reports they are calling the engineers qualification into question which considering there are NO engineers at regency there is no one there qualified to make this call and it not their job to do so anyway. The other problem with the modified scene is that we don't know the legalities correctly which is why I will be asking Neil for documentation when ever he claims that an item is illegal. A lot of the time cops just make up some BS to get you to regency and then let them sort you out and people just roll over and take it. You ask how the eastern states got their systems reformed by fighting the BS defects in court which led to a call for the system to be reviewed as the courts were sick of seeing uneducated policing of defects.

Are you thinking it's MIS**** Andrew

His engine is not a S15 engine, it doesn't have the bump at the front of the rocker cover for the VTC solenoid that al the S14 & 15's had. Also I though he was claiming he had 260rwkw and that he was running a T51R.
-
Quote for Truth; And that is why I want to see the documentation, not just here-say be it from a police officer or the general public.
-
Actually i am and therefore; i am better qualified.
-
It is beside the point whether they Like a mod or not, they are there to enforce the design riles what ever they may be not decide themselves whether a mod is illegal or not; None of the regency inspectors are engineers so they aren't qualified to make that call. This is what I mean about going to court, if they can't pull out the guidelines and point to the code they are enforcing then the car shouldn't have to go to regency.
-
I would like to see documentation when there is a claim that an item is defectable. It's all well and good to claim that an item or a modification is a defect, but without documentation it is just that a claim. Too often people have been "defected" for "illegal" modifications that have no mention in either the ADR's or the state based laws. In the past it has been a case of "what the police say, goes", but this has to end; as most (not all) of them wouldn't know the first thing about cars. If this doesn't change then going to court might be a better option than producing your car to regency for unjust defects, as it will force changes. So so far we need to see documentation for; BOV's, Turbo Timers, Placement of aftermarket items in the cock pit of the vehicle (Gauges, GPS's, Taxi Computers). Also the documentation on steering wheels as I have a wheel (MoMo) with an ADR compliance sticker but according to the State based laws it's too small (how can the state laws contradict the Australian Design Rules; is someone in this state smarter than the engineers that created the ADR's ) you started the topic by saying And then the list goes on where we have been dictated terms. So I have to ask is this a two way "relationship" or is a servant and master relationship (where we are the servant) because at the moment I have my doubts.

I challenge ANY workshop in Adelaide to do as good a quality work as what I have done on my car, and for the record I have no certificate saying I can do what I do. I have however grow up around the Dirt circuit racing scene and have built a number of purpose built dirt circuit open wheelers from scratch. Any the aftermarket parts have been made on a CNC machine centre and are a lot more accurate and better quality that anything seen in the automotive stores these days. This is a bit suss. How can something that is permanently mounted (aka affixed to a piece of the bodywork/frame) be any safer than something mounted with a suction cap? In the event of a crash, anything not mounted correctly turns into a missile... This is the sorta stuff we need clarified. well if we are going to be defected for gauges I want to see every taxi in the state defected for there "job computers" that are fixed to various places on the dash "endangering" the general public, but if I had gauges in these same places I would be defected. So the meeting basically just confirmed what we already knew, I can't see anything in what has been written that is new to me as a member of the motor enthusiast scene. All that I can see is that if was pulled over now I can be told that "oh your a member of SAU? then you have already been warned about these things" say hi to the inspectors for me.

Get them directly from the distributor and save, the least amount of middle men the better. http://gslrallysport.com/shop/index.php?ma...dex&cPath=9 EDIT!! Which is actually the same person as the SAU link.

went for the first few Km's, but I have an exam tomorrow so I went home after that.
-
Aww I'm not recognisable well I haven't officially met you so I suppose that's fair.

let me know the dimensions (mainly height) and I'll see what I can come up with.

Andrew's got some pictures just whether he has enough time to post them up.
