  1. I've seen the tops on inlet valves grooved/ridged with a spiral pattern but that had more to do with getting better distribution in the cylinder than increasing air flow and i have only seen it on 2 valve engines.
  2. Anyone up for a Stake Out, sounds like they hit the same car park a number of times so makes it easier to catch them.
  3. Hey All, A mate is selling his unused external gate as he is now going twin scroll and is using 2x38mm gates. It's a TiAL MV-R 44mm gate and comes with everything pictured. He bought it from the states for $450 and he's asking for $400 posted Australia Wide. Call or Message him on 0421 471 653 (Michael) Don't message me as it's not mine. More info Here; http://www.tialsport.com/prod_wg_mvr.htm Pic's:
  4. No they have fixed cam positions, unless your going to go for a HKS V-Cam but you are talking plenty of $$$$$$ then.
  5. Pretty sure that is all that is sold in Aust'. Infact i think they are all HSPA+.
  6. It wasn't originally supposed to go there though. And i would say that the section between Pym St and Grange road is worse and the section past castle plaza is even worse again. The project (express-way) was originally supposed to go between Pym st section and Grange road to reduce the issues that that section has (power line next to the road and the pavment needing to be redone anyway, etc) that is why the 950 mil budget was given. They discovered later that there was a sub station that wasn't going to be moved which basically put an end to it the original location, but rather than scrap the project because it wasn't going to achieve it's original goal, they moved it up the road where it isn't needed. And what they are going to achieve now is that they are going to make the original problem worse because they are speeding up the traffic to the original problem area.
  7. You have to tune for the fuel unless your car is a flex fuel car; As for injectors and pump it depend how much head room you have in your existing fuel system.
  8. Don't like the New hospital, Spend 3 billion in the existing hospital and you would get a better outcome. Don't like the Super express way, complete waste of $950,000,000. Don't like the tram extension, Supposed to service AAMI Stadium, but by the time it gets there the footy will be played at Adelaide oval. I don't even agree with the Adelaide oval redevelopment, i think they are ruining what was a historic cricket ground. On a side note, i just got myself one of these;
  9. Any answer to this?
  10. Dummy head is called a torque plate. OP, was the engine run at all before it went to the dyno and if so how long did it run and what were the running conditions (i.e. idling, driving, rev's etc.) Personally i think the 1000km run in thing comes from what is require with brand new cars, but with brand new cars you aren't only running in the engine you running in the whole drive train.
  11. It's not methanol
  12. Don't use a metal head gasket unless your are going to prep both surfaces to the correct finish. MLS gaskets require a RA (roughness average) of 50 or better so unless you are machining both the surfaces use an organic gasket.
  13. Link not working for me.
  14. Kind of a myth. You will only get the $10k fine if your a business. The fine for an individual is only around the $500 mark; but since cats can die after 25,000 km's if your running overly rich and definitely will be on it's last legs after 80,000 they have a tough time proving that you knocked it out yourself. Decat though is hard to argue but you just say "what's a cat" and then claim it was on there when you bought the car. End of the day unless your caught with a crow bar in the cat your not getting fined. Dave if your popping flames through your cat it's only a matter of time before you melt it, and then it'll either block up or break up and shoot out the back.
  15. That was second hand (of course) and was through eBay and was 18 months ago so no link but i'll have a look now. There were a number at that price back then. EDIT!! Here's one close to that price, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1990-NISSAN-300ZX-ECU-Engine-Computer-A18-A68-MB1-/170669745331?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27bcb5a4b3
  16. You can get them from the states pretty cheap. I paid ~US$50 + Postage.
  17. Sure about that? Unless your pulling from that other side of the diaphragm, but even then where the shaft leaves the can isn't sealed in 90% of actuators. You talking waste gate actuator or some other actuator in your setup? The mixtures will be fine.
  18. so how you going to pressurise the actuator to hold the gate open? you going to have a pressure cylinder somewhere to store the pressure. Also by doing this you effectively have a low compression 2.5 litre that still has a reasonable exhaust restriction, the cam profiles aren't optimised for what you are trying to do and due to the low compression your fuel economy will not be good. The reason manufacturers use high compression engines is to increase efficiency to increase fuel economy.
  19. Most of it came from NS, so......
  20. Just out of interest does the person who built the first engine have his workshop in the hills and has just move to another place in the hills?
  21. They are a bit of a dogs bollocks of a turbo. As others have said they are a mismatch. The 53.8mm turbine is even a bit to small for the 71mm compressor with a 2871 so with a 2876 you have the extra lag of the 76mm compressor but with no extra power to be made because the 53.8mm turbine is that limiting factor. There are a few uses for this turbo but they are not conventional setups; like they are good in motor sport classes where you have a restrictor plate that limits the amount of air flow available to the compressor. Garrett even give you a heads up on their info page for the 2876 where they say;
  22. LOL When the F*#K did we get ice-cream. VV NWS VV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=assQTPT7A8g
  23. The GTR will have a CV on the nose of the diff and the GTS-T will have a uni joint. When the S-Series guys have put a GTR diffs in thier cars they have swapped the whole cradle, i think the mounting point are different, haven't looked into it personally though.
