  1. Craig at RevZone has been tuning Apexi SAFC's for ages. He's really good it and seen a large number of good tunes by him. I will be taking my other car to him soon to tune the SAFC.
  2. lol thanks Dez...and yes it was a case of look at me I'm on the ring road most mornings between 8-9am...getting off at sydney/hume exit. Now I might be in the line instead..
  3. where do u buy it from? I havn't been able to find it.
  4. **mesh now in black... the grille is going as soon as the FMIC is one in a week or so so I'm not too fussed, However I agree with the grille color sux...wasn't oo happy when i saw it but ...funny enough I just went to find the black paint I used to paint my other one...so should be done by later today... not the biggest fan of the letter box style.. Also the ones I did try didn't fit properly anyway - and I tried a few. lets see how it looks without the silver...black is the go.
  5. finally got my GTST back today after 2.5 months or repairs... I have fitted Matts (Mavric) custom banana bar however I havn't installed my FMIC yet which is just sitting in the garage...thats next weekends project. Anyway after much debate about grilles I went with a stock grille cos I thought it would be nice with the color...anyway too late now regardless.. Here are some pics without my good rims If any1 is looking for a front bar that fits perfect (cos it required now adjustment at all)...ready for a FMIC I would be looking at this bar...
  6. yeah any1 who has done a compression test knows to warm the car...so i assume that was done properly...125 is very low IMO...and you are right it seems wierd cos usually one or two cyl. are llower than the rest...from my experience anyway without factoring in the rebuild..mine is a 94, 101,000km and was in the 160s-165s as above...this is the origional engine...mainly stock. Just as a reference. If one cyl. is a bit low this can be put down to carbon bulid up etc...but not that low...
  7. with compression tests there are a number of things to look for...one is the total variance between highest to lowest. Your results look good in that regard. However the "stock compression" from memory is 175/180 in a R33GTST...when I had mine tested my results were in the 165 bracket and its done about 100k. I was very happy with that. I would be suggesting your figures are low...however the total variance is well within range. Not being an expert though. some1 else might have a better analysis
  8. its probably been stated but like the dyno your 1/4mile run is dependant on so many factors...the driver for one! the day...ur setup...blah blah...you either need to run side by side to see which is better or do your dyno at the same day/place to get realistic comparision. jumping dynos...is pointness but proves that there is a massive variation in results...hence never really trust them unless its at the same place (at least)
  9. yeah I need to ammend this a bit... I will get 1 x 10W30 (big one) and 1 x small one...cos the big one isn;t enuf. 1 x 1x lightweight shock proof oil (3.8L)
  10. so what would that be from the 1st graph shown?
  11. lol that got a reaction...bit loose with my 1k i guess..600...arh well close to 1k in my book I though we were talking about making get more power so I just assumed this was the reason. didn't knwo they were onlt 500...might get some I seriosuly thought they were 1k haha
  12. lol - I want ur car, close to 900mn of torque.... dyno results should be used to determine if your mods have given u a gain...and by how much. However if ur dyno reads 300kw when it should be 180 then thats a bit pointless also...cos by that logic...I wack on a new cam gear and it says i get a 50kw gain LOL we all need one of those..
  13. for 1k...there are probably some better power mods u can do instead of getting some spitfires...
  14. If thats what you think...you stick to it.
  15. lol trex...must have been at the same time... and this ia good point I missed:
  16. I disagree. Using the specs to determine the quality of an oil is far better than using guess work. There is also a perception that over 100k u need thicker oil...a lot of documentnation suggests that because at op. temp. the viscosity is roughly the same then there is little gain from useing the thicker oil - which was your origional point...and there is a lot to gain from startup wear restrictions and HP gains through lower flow restictions of a 10W-30 for example. When i comes to cost...ppl complain about an extra $30 on a really good oil..that they only need ot change every 10-15k due to better OCI...for a true comparision u need to factor in the addative package gains say of the redline product for example and its ability to really "clean out the sludge" which has been proven in a numbe rof different makes an models. lets not even get started on HTHS etc...
  17. just looked at he specs...nothing outstanding...also some key specs missing - no suprise really. Type VI POA base stock comes seconds to a POE (ester) base stock. as stated by trex....POE has better HTHS...flash point etc...also helps clean out all the sludge much better. btw 5W-50...way to thick for daily driving...look at is cold start cSt ratings....OMFG...at least go for a 10w30/40.
  18. this is really good stuff. put me down for 1 x 10W30...
  19. have u ZERO'd the maps? did u look at the Apexi web site...the SAFC manual I have for mine tells u everything u need ot know and even how to setup some basic settings...
  20. fair enough...I don't care what anyones does...its a forum and I just posted up different view. I'II take the GTR, in the end of the day it will transfer the power to the road and be a better drive on wet conditions...not to mention twisty roads. I was a bit over zellous with the stock bit... as for the money, I got a better idea mate - make more money with it?
  21. welcome dood Having lived in both melb and syd for a while I can say you will be initially disapointed eventually things will get better! I hang out in the Longroom (Collins St) awsome joint on Fridays...wicked place. Since you in Sth Melb grab a chicken parma as the Cricketers Arms I think on Clandon st...awsome if u havn't been there... as for good sight seeing?? Goldfingers and The G...hehehe always good viewing.
  22. lol nice1...however like u it seems- i cbf making one...I will pay for the time saving
  23. shouldn't touch...if u have a stock bar its almost guarenteed that some cutting will be needed...you will need to take of the front bar obviously but maybe I'm stating the obvious If ur gonna do it...get a decnet one...a few good priced ones in the GB section.
  24. Look at my avtar...I have more than one car and know what ur saying.. My point was. if you car is a daily driver...make it drivable and look good, its not hard to get to 200rwkw. If you wanna crazy power car..save and buy a car that can put it to the road without being to unsafe. don't get me wrong...I love my R33 GTST...awsome car for the money I rekcon. But I don't see the point of spending 15k on engine mods and be beaten by a stock GTR. I think I have seen Paul33 say in a few posts...make the car drivable..unless it s track/drag car. Its all good to wack a big turbo..massive FMIC/ tripple plate clutch etc...then try driving it to work every day.
  25. keep reading the threads about 250+kw form a gtst...why spend 15k on one? u can't get it to the road easily anyway...just go an get yourself a GTR R33...stock its pretty damn good. my GTST runs at about 200rwkw..although I have it now set to about 10psi and its about 185-190..I find that to be fast enough for normal street use...esp. in the wet...u will recondider when you hit a pole in the wet cos the rear end lost traction...putting all the "u can't drive comments" aside rwd + high power + wet roads = be careful...it only takes one time when u wanna hoon past some1 and bam... of course everyone will shoot me down...but when I had a rolling start with a 911-t he didn't beat me by as much as u would expect considering the price difference...and he was worried for a bit also....damn he went fast tho I only spend 3k on mods...priceless. this is only my opinion...unless u setting your car up for drags/racing etc don't waste 2 much money (cos back when u sell it) on the GTST... of course...do what u want and hope to see u get big numbers....I do agree that 250+ would be awsome...but not when i do the cost/benift analysis in my head..
