Rb25 Turbo Upgrade, All Dyno Results
hypergear replied to Nacho Vidal's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Unopened R33 Rb25DET HyperGears 21U G3 high flow internally gated 600x300x76mm cooler kit. 1000cc ID injectors, walbro 470 fuel pump Apexi power fc 3 inches Turboback exhaust 20psi @ 3500RPM, 291rwkws E85 fuel -
CAs are pretty cool little nugget. I rebuilt mine in 09, it made 314rwkws on Pump 98 fuel using an old ATR43G4 turbo internally gated. And I sponsored a drive whom also had a built CA18det that made 344rwkws on P100 fuel using the same turbo externally gated.

RB20 Turbo selection (twinscroll housing advice)
hypergear replied to iruvyouskyrine's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yes thats when they were first developed. The turbo is ATR28SS15 based, it maxed out at 281rwkws P98 fuel on an worked SR20det, on a stock cammed Rb20det it should be maxing some where towards the 250rwkws depending on mods. I bought a R32 GTS4 late last year and trailed a bunch of other wheel and housing combinations and that is still the best one, BB improved transit response and made the turbo came in with very light throttle movement. Unfortunately I've picked up a bad car, its unfit for the building purpose, I might get another one to continue this venture when I see something come up decent.- 154 replies

RB20 Turbo selection (twinscroll housing advice)
hypergear replied to iruvyouskyrine's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
This is some result form an ATR43SS1 Turbo in bush bearing. It made 227rwkws @ 17psi on Pump 98 fuel. I've used the same turbo with BB core on my R34.2 with an RB20det (running with melted cyc 6) which is very responsive. Green boost curve: Same turbo with BB's core.- 154 replies

Over the years, I've noticed many former RB lovers switched to Barras . The bolton XR6 turbo project is also in progress. I will post our Barra results as project moves along. Car made 406rwkws @ 19psi on P98 fuel internally gated with supporting mods: Car run 11.7 with street tyres.

I will keep this post updated with my FB time line in the next few days. First up is the anti surge sleeve insert that we started doing this year. Or some people prefer to call them the T51R mod. This can be carried out to various housings, details about it can be found on our site.: Original: After: It doesn't affect turbo's performance if the compressor housing has already been Anti-surge slotted. But will change the induction sound pitch.

Hi Adrian, The ATR43's current turbine wheel is about perfect for the housing and comp wheel size. Its just right been able to match flow the compressor and just out side of the lower surge limit of the Rb25det engine. So I won't be doing any more modifications to the turbine side at this stage unless changes made to the compressor or housings. With the turbine housing, I might be able to use your GT30 turbine housing and get similar result, but preferred to run the default housing it comes with the turbo.

Discopotato03: I did a couple of runs with Tomei drop in cams, far as for 380rwkws application is made 3kws differences in power and added lag. This is will also be the peek power range for a GT3076, so I don't think there will be an huge improvement in powe About 3076 under performing, it is related to the pressure drop per my test results. So for it take its full capabilities, it will needs been able to hold boost, and you should see touch over 300rwkws internally gated on P98 fuel at 22psi. Stock air box didn't work out so well. I ended up drilling holes under the lower half of the plastic cover, that worked great and looking stock from the top. I didn't like cats either, drop it and to a separate run to see if there are differences in power. that will shown if its restrictive or not.

I got 3.8psi out of a 12V system running on a RB25det engine with a electric turbo that I designed for a Chinese company in 2011. There are way better motors today I think I can get it to make around 7psi if I'm doing it all over again this year. Boost was instant spinning up a T04Z compressor once activated. I guess it can be attached to a turbine shaft to make it hybrid. Just don't know whats the reliability of the electric motor on long run.

Cars at Seven Auto motive to get those cams in, will keep everyone updated once its running. I will keep this post upated with my FB updates. fist our team took winning trophy on Vic time attack 1.35.27 last week. footage: Mr Oversteer was ranked 3rd this time due to Alternator problems:

That was the first item came in mind, Trent tested said CAS is fine. I will check again when its back on dyno next.

My Rb20det is hitting a brick wall at 215rwkws. I've installed the best possible mods to not cause any flow restrictions, and it doesn't like to make power. So far I've dynoed turbos in equivalents of: GT2871, GTX2864, GT3071, GT3076. and the most power it would make was 215rwkws with a 3076 equivalent. I've also spent alot of timing fixing the car and made sure all components runs correctly. Be aware of Ebay cam gears, Mine "0" degrees out of so called "HKS" brand is actually -5. Car's a GTS4. shown 188,000KMs, but drives solid. Silver top engine. The power band sort of falls into range of Rb20det P98 figures out of Trent's dyno. There are few odd ones that made pretty high power for the turbo size, I'm curious to know if its because their engines are healthier or if it had some sort of cams / head upgraded in their long years of running. For some odd reasons RB20dets doesn't like timing in mid range. Mine's down to 6 degrees around 4000RPM, but happy taking 13 degrees up top when there is 20psi of boost making the car feel torque less down low. E85 fixes that problem, and shift the whole power curve 1000RPM to the left with heaps more up top. At moment I'm fitting up a set of Kenford cams. I hope this will make a difference to power and I don't think there are anything else that I can do other wise.

G2 is engineered to work with stock ecu and injectors. You can still get over 240rwkws with it on decent mods and more boost. Dyno below shown customers result of 222rwkws maxing factory injectors on 13psi.

I'm pretty sure Standard GTR 32 turbo has M12x1.25 thread while R34 has 7/16 UNF thread. Oil drain adaptor on the R32 should be 1.75 inches centre to centre while R34 turbos should be in 1.5 inches. water lines are the same and bolt pattern is also the same.

Not Holding Boost! Hks 2835 Pro S .87 A/r

never seen any turbos do that before. I assume its got a 4 inches metal induction pipe or something similar? -
Not Holding Boost! Hks 2835 Pro S .87 A/r
hypergear replied to LaurelPWR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
During this this two years I've had two of those 2835 Pro-S in for repair, and they all appears to have an boost tapering problem. One particular customer did manage to get it hold 20psi without boost tapper, and that is by overloading the actuator given 3mms of waste gating. We did larger trimmed compressor wheel, as well as doing billet 76mm Garrett GTX comp wheel, it did not change that behaviour. I found the boost tapper behaviour is common with internally gated Garrett GT30 turbines. I suspect it is due to the crop in the rear exducer blades. After replacing the exhaust wheel with one of our SAT models, the boost pressure held dead flat at 20psi with minimum actuator preload. This is a pretty good example in earlier SAT developments. Replacing an GT30 turbine wheel with a older G3SAT turbine wheel nothing else's changed.: -
Hi, we can supply a donor turbo for $150 so you will not need to send one in. The cost to high flow is $850 for G2 that is made for stock ecu and fuel system, while the upsized G3 cost $900, that supports around 260rwkws on P98 fuel, but will require a custom tune and bigger injectors to work. postage to Okinawa is about $150. Oil line is included in price quoted.

Thats a pretty reasonable figure consider for the boost given. how much power r u hopping for? More then happy to make it bigger free.

What's the HP limit for the 21U turbine housing?
hypergear replied to Torques's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Both R33 RB25det not Neo. using identical size core, the 21U is more responsive while OP6 made more power. also correction on the dyno reading of the modified 21U rear housing on Friday's the 10th post, the correct reading has been updated (on P98 fuel) -

What's the HP limit for the 21U turbine housing?

OP6 generally lose 500RPM of response and picks up 30kws of extra power. capable of alot more once externally gated. -
What's the HP limit for the 21U turbine housing?
hypergear replied to Torques's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I pulled 293rwkws on a 21U once with a custom CHRA set and tones of work to the turbine housing. The problem is OEM housing does not contain enough materials to containing a big enough turbine wheel. For that experiment I deliberately broke through the rear housing then filled it back with blanks. I got pretty good result, but not for the time and efforts put in. -
its just a 12mm copper washer you can get them form Auto spare shops normally hanging on a wall pack. the drain adaptor gasket is to suit OEM drain pipe, cheapest place to get that is Ebay or simply cut one out of gasket paper. No silicon glue on either of the fittings.

thats a 56T GT2871R, you will be expecting around the 250rwkws region on a worked SR20det with pretty good response.
