Turbo Replacement Without A Turbo
hypergear replied to skidlineTodd's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I admit making an mistake quoting the maximum boost level safe to run on stock ecu earlier. Been corrected and that it should be no higher then 10psi. Reason of having the high flow, as cost wise is similar or cheaper then to rebuild, similar drive ability working with factory ecu, making good power when other supporting mods are present, and proven by time to last. For a budget ECU upgrade you can get Toshi to remap based on factory injectors and AFM. I've personally sent few customers that direction and worked well. -
Made 297rwkws on 22psi On pump 98 fuel. Compressor maxed out. Turbine had alot more in it. How ever its gettng too laggy for what i originally wanted and i think i know just why. Will upload result later on.

Turbo Replacement Without A Turbo
hypergear replied to skidlineTodd's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i meant stock drive ability when used on factory ecu under 10psi. Do not run any thing above unless supporting mods are available. -
The ss15 rb20 high flow runs a 63mm turbine which is some thing ive recently made upgrading the ones in the ss2. I didnt think it was wise running a 72mm turbine which is what i usually use in rb25det highflows, as it might be too laggy on the rb20. Compressor is ss15 67mm, that was tested and perfect for 250rwkws, that is pretty comfortable for this turbine to handle. So should make good power and not too laggy for the road. The ss2 t28 is due for dyno tomorrow. I will enable vtc also, will post results once complete.

Turbo Replacement Without A Turbo
hypergear replied to skidlineTodd's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Depending on what the high flowed profile is. We can highflow it to run on 10 to 22psi reliabily with factory alike response and drive ability on standard ecu. Highflowed turbocharger is capable of supporting a maximum of 270rwkws on pump 98 and had customers making 320rwkws on e85 With supporting mods. -
Billet SS1.5 high flow using factory R32 housings. Expected to pull around 240rwkws and good drive ability.
-
Get Adaptronic Plug in ecus. I've upgraded to it from Nistune+z32 board + Z32 AFM. It worked heaps better.
-
The turbine housing is different. You will need to get a SR's .64 rear housing machined to suit your turbine.
-
Another update this is my latest ATR43SS2 turbocharger.Compare to the current one. Compressor inducer has been increased by 2mms, while the turbine inducer and exducer has been increased by 3mms. This particular one is expected to be maxed out at around 390rwkws on E85.
-
The difference would be the cams. I've compared mine with few that has Pon cams at Trents, The BC cams are making in average of 15kws more mid-top while the pon cams has 15kws more in mid-low with better response. The GT3071 on my car hits 20psi by 4250rpms at 250rwkws, feels laggy down low.
-
I think it make similar power as your GTX3071 hopefully with better response. If that works well I will enable VCT.
-
lol that is very wrong. The turbine is in a standard T3x patterned housing, means other T3s will have similar issues. I use Brae high mount and fits perfectly.
-
Posting a little update. This is the SS2 based ATR28 turbocharger with a even larger turbine. This particular one runs off ceramic roller bearings. Hopping to get 300rwkws+ with 20psi by 4000RPMs.
-
I have a billet 20.5G in stock in 10cm turbine that would be a good responsive option. Call Brae on 0438584796

The SS2 would be the most reliable turbo for this setup. The externally gated version usually comes with a Plate which a 3 inch metal pipe can be attached to as the font pipe. Or a Vband assembly extension that cost $100 additional. details are at: http://www.hypergearturbos.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=72&product_id=54

We can high flow them and they will be good enough to support 300rwkws on a manual with supporting mods. Lot of work is involved in doing it how ever. So it might be working out cheaper with an high mount, but depending on what it is. The cost to high flow both CT12As is $1800 and they needs braided oil and water lines after high flowing. Alternatively, you can use our ATR43G3, SS2 or SS3 depending on what sort of power you are after. G3 is $900, while SS2/3 is $1150. 50mm HPVA gate that Ive been using on the R33 is $300 with the turbocharger. and Brae manifold is $1100.

Gt3076 6 Blade Vs 7 Blade, Did Research But More Inside
hypergear replied to HIKAR1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
when both compressors are maxed. Garrett 6 pair blade 76mm 56t actually make slightly more power with better response then the 7 pair 76mm compressor or referred as 60-1. -
can definitely make it run less then 10psi with smaller compressor and turbine profiles. Depending on what the plans are, if injectors and ecu are on the list then have the larger profile and don't thresh it till the the mods installed and car tuned.
-
For reversed turbine wheels there sin't that much of option yet available. Need to see what I can find.
-
If you are serious about power and response and have a little bit of budget, Have a look at our SS alpha series which is an multi stage CBB VNT turbocharger. That drives as a factory turbocharger pulling 383rwkws. This is much more then a .82 single stage 60mm turbine with a billet compressor can archive.
-
They only work with low boost level applications, some thing under 16psi would work great. The compressor and turbine end must be welly balanced. As in the back pressure needs to be similar to boost pressure so forces generated naturalizes. At moment with the SR its matter of evaluating different wheels and housings for some data. Once the limitation of compressor and turbine is determined, I can then mix-match or make some thing very specifically to suit either end of the turbocharger. That way I have a balance flowed turbocharger that makes good power for its response and last.

SLSS2 is making 285AWKWs so far. I think it will stop making power just under 300awkws at 29psi.
-
Actually the SS1.5 is smaller then a 20G. That one which you've sent back originally was a 20G size. Regardless the compressor don't matter that much, the turbine side is the one needs to be worked on. The SLSS2 stopped making power at 385rwkws at 23psi on my R33 externally gated on high mount. Usually smaller engines needs more boost getting the same power level. How ever the EVO is internally gated (stock manifold?) The easiest way to determine wither the turbocharger or some thing is maxed out is by judge the amount of power gain per psi of boost added. The percentage starts to decline sharply when that happens, and best leave as that. By calculation this the SLSS2 will max out at 299awkws at 29psi. Did that evo ended up adding higher boost for the dyno show?
