  1. Well its nearly finished. I will put up pictures soon. Not happy with the process, but the finished product looks ok. Quite a bit of fiddling and messing around to make it fit well. Definately not straight forward, but like i said about $400 and I had to buy an angle grinder. Just have to mount the lights for the number plate some how and its finished. Edit - As for towing 1.5 tonne, I dont know, its pretty thin rails back there and its not braced very far. I would really still to the 450kg unbraked limit on the 200sx bar. 900kg braked. 450 is enough for me, trailer + possibly 2 karts in the future.
  2. KE70 or t18 definately. Good parts availability, a few cheap mods available and the correct wheels are doing the driving.
  3. Im still in the process of mine. Should fit it tonight. Had to get a panel beater in to remove the hump in the beaver panel, other than that quite straight forward. Fitting costs inlcluding wiring... $170, Bar $240, so total only $410 (provided it goes back together). The car doesnt seem that substantial there, wouldnt want to tow huge amounts of weight.
  4. Na im up in maryborough, fraser districts kart club. We race 'dirt' here, but I travel a bit, hoping to do bundy and gympie at least this year.
  5. Yeah wouldnt mine a go at a clubby. Will have to hassle some of the guys in my club for a run. My j is a bit lethargic at best when starting! Will see how much power it actually makes tomorrow when I got it back from the engine builder.
  6. I have to say, once you experience a real kart there is no way you will ever want to go within a few km of a hire kart again! Gets expensive though, even in the slow classes. Topkart - What type of J makes 9hp and S makes 15hp really
  7. What types of karts are they offering? Just j's im guessing or 4 stroke clunkers?
  8. Ill get you pics next week when I fit mine. Ordered today, should be here on friday.
  9. Bumping an old thread. So its not a huge deal on an r33 then? I am planning to order one this week.
  10. Bit of a kinda sunshine coast question. I know its a bit north, but has anyone been on the gympie skid pan? I didn't know it was there until the weekend when i was at the kart track and heard some action going on.
  11. Cool thanks for that. Ill try some of these people after the local lot (which im sure will be utterly useless and fairly scared). I think getting a towbar fitted has got to be a better financial decision than changing cars anyway. I guess that is the only benefit of s14's, they are available off the self. Or heaven forbid I could get a wrx (that idea scares even myself).
  12. Hahaha woops. I should have updated, that went a while ago. It would have been a lot better too, would have been worth hanging out too for that alone, but the requirement for towing wasnt there 6 months ago.
  13. Seems this topic has been asked a few times but with no answers (i searched!). Just wondering if anyone here has got a tow bar fitted to an r33 2 door in queensland. Only has to be a low capacity bar for a light kart trailer and kart. Not too interested in carving up the rear bar too much though I guess if its a no go its time for a new car, but thats the hard part!
  14. QML, the enemy S&N employee here, lol. I think I know you, you went to jcu hey?
  15. Someone organise it well enough and it would most likely happen! Although noosa seems to be a snobby area at best (from my one visit). Just dont be so sure though, lots of quick old things like 240z's around e.g. john siddins etc. A well built skyline might do well e.g. that black one i mentioned previously, but dont underestimate some of the old rigs, especially with a new bit of technology under the bonnet.
  16. A few things get me about this thread. 1. People suggesting that sliding corners is generally quicker than correct and quick lines. Maybe you guys should be formula 1 engineers. Rally cars might yes, but on bitumen they aren't as taily. Really tight hairpins seem to be the domain of handbreaks, but thats a neccessity. 2. You drive a lot harder on a closed circuit or road than one open to the public, I have experienced that many a time that is unless of course you are lacking that self preservation instinct that most people have or any common sense. 3. Why is everyone here a hero driver but without much to back it up. Most the good drivers I know (people who are sucessful at motorsport) are really quite modest about it. I have also seen this phonomen of people that are quick supposedly on open roads and flat out suck in real competition. Same thing in townsville with the mt. stuart hillclimb, plenty of people talking it up (often skylines) then failing miserably when it came to the event. Ironically however the hill record is held by a skyline, be it a certain forum member in a black r32 gtr.
  17. I'm ashamed to own a skyline about now. The number of hero racers!
  18. Thats the way business works isn't, minimise costs to be competitive and return maximal profit. If you read it says that the seat belt hasnt been known to fail in the real world and could if installed incorrectly.
  19. Drive a car you can afford to insure then? I pay less than that for fully comprehensive. My first car was still quick enough for a mid 14, and it was still only $200 for 3rd part, $350 for fire and theft. $1000 is still a lot cheaper than $50k,100k etc etc.
  20. Its funny that I have also heard of so called 'professionals' with skylines arguing exactly the same oil starvation point. This thread is great, thanks for leaving it open
  21. And even that performance thing doesnt ring too true with the new bread of local cars. If the fpv typhoon and new SS are both doing low 13's, thats enough to do away with a lot of standard skylines!
  22. Seen it a few times in the flesh. He claims its legit. Its not the touring car of bathurst fame, just from the production races i think.
  23. Has everyone seen this already? Fair cool bit of kit from a historical point of view I guess. http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/NISSAN...nd/2121816.aspx
  24. You the next thing about a ve if it does bugger up, you take it back and someone else does all the hard work for you. If your r33 buggers up you are going to be taking it out of your own pocket or back spending days leant over the car. I know which sounds like a better option.' Oh yeah, anyone that kills 3 diffs in 20 000km in any car really needs to look at their driving habits. Burnouts are not normal wear and tear.
  25. Thats pretty crazy! Not a place you want to go off. I was a good kid, I dont think I exceeded the speed limit all day.
