Im located in maryborough about 250km north of brisbane. Little bit in the middle of no where. Im thinking I might need to make a trip to brisbane for it. I think anyway that expects to be good off the bat would be dreaming.

Im looking to get into karting now. Just starting the trail of getting it all organising. I guess a kart would be a good start. Not looking to be competitive, but to just get out and have some fun. The track here isnt of a very good standard so it looks of more a social affair, which is fine with me. Looking to go racing Senior National lights class as well I believe it is. Seemed to be about of field of about 6 people in that one when I went out for a look around the other day. I just think it might get expensive quickly. Just gotta find a semi decent kart first, i have a few numbers of a few shops so that will be the first point of call i reckon.

Wide Bay Sprints At Maryborough
Turbo Tim replied to hrd-hr30's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I have a couple pics I will post up later when I get home from work. Those other 2 skylines were from a local skyline dealer. I think the other black r32 gtr was as well. -
Yeah I saw it out there. Seems legit now I have seen it. Have a few pics too. I just remember reading this topic a while ago and brought it back to life. What were you driving at the sprints? The other black r32? gtr?
-
Old topic I know, but I believe a local car around here is claimed to be that gtr.
-
Im maryborough which is kinda close I guess. Brady - Figured there would be someone from hervey bay on here with all the skylines down there, r31 would almost be different amongst the sea of r33's.
-
Nah they wouldnt, but they do have a dyno.
-
Nah there are more than 2. Hawkins (chiptorque) has a 4wd dyno. Crawfords has a 4wd dynolog dyno. TMS have a 2wd. ARB has an old 2wd. Apparently there is another 2wd dynolog in town too for some new mob opening up.

Who Said Rb20 Nics Were Useless?
Turbo Tim replied to Turbo Tim's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah the r31 was a fun car, just lacked torque due to the big turbo. I guess any rb20 with a decent size turbo and poor tune is going to be like that though. -
Who Said Rb20 Nics Were Useless?
Turbo Tim replied to Turbo Tim's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
THats something new I definately didnt know! I guess the stock turbo had to be the major problem on them? -
Just thought I would share this video around here. Its an RB20 NICS powered bluebird wagon at the ingham car show. Only reason I posted it up was that my brother used to own an R31 which had that particular engine in it before it go sold and stripped and put into the bluebird in question. Made about 180rwkw in the r31 on stock ecu running a hitachi HT18 from a series 4 rx7, 2 rx7 cores welded together and 2.5" press bent exhaust. Running 13psi or some such. Apparently it now runs an after market ecu and about 20psi. So maybe those really old nics arent as bad everyone makes out Kills the rear tyres pretty quick too!

I live in maryborough too, I hope things dont get any worse after this. That said I have never been pulled up, but I dont really drive much. I think the car in question drove by me the other day, didnt look like the brightest lot.

Hey im interested in shocks alone, can you PM me with details. Im ready to buy any time if you have stock. Interested in front and rear. I just wondering if I should do anything else at the same time. I currently have some too low and too hard springs that came in it off the boat. I really hate them, but I dont know if that is more to do with the shocks in combination with the springs. Am I correct in reading this will give me some height adjustability, I just think it could do with being another inch higher purely for reasons of functionality and im also sure its too low to handle well. I havent changed shocks in a skyline before, but played around with enough other cars, so it shouldnt be a huge deal I assume? Doesnt seem to be anyone trust worthy around here.
-
I think its more than plausible for shocks to be shagged, its still a 9/10 year old car. My 95 has buggered shocks, probably the stupid hard jap springs dont help. In combination with the bad roads around here they didnt stand a chance. I have had the rear end step out in a straight line under acceleration, purely because the shocks are so bad.
-
Im suprised about something here, the number of people recommending replacement ecus? Im new but im wonder at what point it because necessary? Is it a pretty standard thing to get reasonable power? What would be the maximum you would expect retaining the stock ecu? My own '5k' plan would go something like... New shocks and springs (stupid overly hard jap rubbish with worn shocks) Finish exhaust (front pipe + cat) Front mount Fuel pump More boost (whats same stock ecu?)

They have been saying the $2/litre thing for about the last year now. Im getting a bit suspicious of the easter price increase though. Fortunately im 800 metres from work

Qld Transport Minister Slams Imports
Turbo Tim replied to ' Max Power's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I think this sort of thing makes me annoyed to own a skyline. Getting lumped in with some of the crowd which drive them like complete and total knobs and have very little idea about what they are driving. I really think it is the one thing I hate about owning a skyline, everyone expects you to be a hoon, drug dealer or similar. The random crap of people yelling out gets a bit annoying, even in the 6 weeks or so I have had it. Its gotta be the thing I hate most about the car. -
Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
Turbo Tim replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
How big of a problem is this oil issue? Reason being im considering using my essentially stock rb25 for a bit of track work/short sprints, is it going to be a huge issue? Stock limiter is still in place, so I cant spend huge amounts of time up in the revs. Still might be something to think about and might further influence me to thinking about changing for an s14 or similar. -
When Buying A Car From Car Yards...
Turbo Tim replied to Modena's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I didnt get a tank of fuel but I got new tyres, a few things touched up and fixed and a free carbon clean today. Also found a stacker and amp in the boot and sard boost guage in the centre console. Remember a lot of the time dealers costs include stamp duty and all the other fees. Did for me anyway. -
Many skyline owners up in bundy? Im planning to come up there for a drive on the weekend, I saw a few in yards when I was up there about a month ago for work.

bank loan, how hard is it to get approved ?
Turbo Tim replied to skylinedrifter's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Reading this thread has been a fair eye opener for me! Im very suprised at what some people borrow on there incomes! I think when you are borrowing more than your annual wage that isnt a good thing at all! -
We had the same problem in my brother rb20 r31 he used to have. Solution was to call a mobile mechanic. He came around, bent the shit out of his puller and charged $50 for his time. For the time and effort involved it was the best way to do it. Saved a lot more frustration.

Test Drove A Mazda Mps - Turbo Awd
Turbo Tim replied to benl1981's topic in General Automotive Discussion
There are still plenty of factory turbo cars left e.g. EVO's, Subaru's, VW golf and polo gti, renault megane 225 and prolly a few more of those europeans too. I think for the price, it would be really hard to beat an evo if you wanted go, just a shame they are fairly basic inside and look like they do on the outside.
