  1. The courses they have to do include a law degree & several years as a clerk and I'd say many more years practicing. You'd be a very very old by the time you became a cop and made it to being positioned as a judge, unless you weren't a cop for very long.
  2. I'd like to clear up that misconception for you so you can get on with appreciating the total riceness of the mod The air coming out of the BOV has already been through your intercooler, it doesn't do anything to increase the temp of the intake air to the motor, thats just silly if you think about it. As for extra rich fueling you must understand that a BOV interfering with the AFR does not so so in a measured and precise way. This means unless it's an absolute fluke there is not necessarily any 'piston crown' cooling more likely the poor mixture drops the power very slightly. If you want piston crwon cooling get rotational idle and a propper tune. At least you aren't spending big bucks so your kilo of rice is really costing less
  3. Lithium, Unlike most of the NZ R33 gtst owners it seems you are actually looking for good advice and are preppared to aim at something (aim at nothing and you hit it every time).Don't worry I'm sure the 12 second pass won't be far off for you either.
  4. mickr32gtr, There are reasonable gains to be had from the higher (9.2mm) lift 260deg Tomei shafts. 15-20rwkw or so up on the stockers. The camshaft swap including tune should be around $800-$900 with the cams costing about $800 pair (greenline/nengun). The head need not be removed.
  5. Nismo, A common dream you are having. I'm sure we have all had one like it at some stage. People are unlikely to be killing you anytime soon, unless your abillity to control others goes beyond what people consider polite . However feeling apprehensive about the people involved is the real motivation behind your actions in the dream. You subconsiously decided the people in your dream were trying to kill you. Try to think about these things in light of being the author/film maker of the dream (pretend you are and give answers as to why you might made things happen like this or what you were trying to convey) Who are the people? What do they look like (are they taller/shorter than you or have anything that makes them look unusual)? How are they trying to kill you? What is happening in the dream? Sometimes there is a simple anxiety behind a dream like that. No more complex than you think people at work hate you.
  6. mek, You will find that much of what you do each day is the result of mental patterns in your subconcious, this is not amazing if we consider that much of what we do involves choice and that mundane choices are often resigned to the part of our mind bordering on the subconcious. Sometimes we suprise ourselves when we carry out actions days after day/dreaming about doing just that, without being completely concious of doing them at the time. That is, we often subconciously decide what type of actions and circumstances we will put ourselves in, in the future. The scary part is that the subconcious mind is not an impartial robot, it is creative in nature and affected by emotions etc. just like your concious thoughts are, they are not separate. You have the capacity to do yourself and others harm by subconcious intention. In a very real way we can self-fulfill a dream by subconcious actions and motives.
  7. I study philosophy.
  8. Spammer are we? we all love those.
  9. I'd like to add whether or not you were actually thinking in the dream to race the skyline, thats what instigates the motivation outside of the dream for you and that what it is symbolic of. The environment around you in the dream is often a construct of your subconscious mind, even though in the dream your bodily self seems to be distinctly separate from it.
  10. The wet roads, in the built up area of the city and at night time, say to you to be cautious. This is what you think when you encounter these conditions outside of the dream. The perfectly straight road and the other black skyline racing you are saying to throw the caution to the wind and race. These are often all people need to justify running someone. What you also didn't say was that there was no other cars on the road, am I right? I see your dream is a warning to you. Something that comes from within your subconscious. As fas as it being a preminition, I'd say that given a wreckless attitude to driving a car we all could end up on the end of that bobcat.
  11. Is this a spam attempt? Or did you just forget to post in the forsale section.
  12. simon, I reckon your 'stock' rb20 turbo was not really all that stock. At least your 190rwkw was backed up by the cars performance.
  13. Flaps, Based on the mph ,60ft time , terminal speed and the fact that the R32 is lighter than an R33 I'd say the dyno of 189rwkw was very generous. Ot at least the 189rwkw you got is lower than the 175rwkw I had when doing a 13.3 @106mph in a heavier R33 gtst with the factory turbo at 10psi. Makes me wonder about shootout mode, since thats what mine was done on. I'm going to say 'no' to the question of 200rwkw on the RB20 with a stock R34 gtst turbo.
  14. I wish you and the other lady a speedy recovery. Best wishes dAvE
  15. mickr32gtr, Plugs. I yet to see a platinum plug outlast a copper plug by a factor of 3 (3 times what may I ask?), considering they cost 5 times as much I think....sorry, I know you are wasting your money. As for better spark I'd like to point out there is no evidence what so ever to demonstrate improved performance on that claim. So you 'asked' a couple of performance tuners. I base my recommendation on years of personal experience and I happen to know a few very good tuners who recommend coppers over platinum. Strangly enough I don't know of any who would say platiums were worth the $, I'm sure there might be some I just haven't had the pleasure of meeting them yet to discuss their ideas on the matter. The cold air intake is great if the cold air is forcably directed into a cold air box. If it's left open it's rather ineffective. better than nothing but not by much at all. Pulling the boost restictor and retaining the factory boost control as I mentioned provides stable boost, it may not hold as well as an EBC at higher rpm but, it's certainly not going to spike over 1 bar. Plenty of GTRs have done this and it is commonly regarded as a simple and effective modification. I'll be happy to present a boost curve for you once I get a dyno done but, I can assure you there's no issue. If your going to own a performance car period you need to start learning the basic point of efficient modification. You ought to learn how and why things work or spend lots of money based on other peoples intentions. I'd rather do it the easy way. Last time I saw something about 'genuine race equipment' it was in refference to a 'rice boy' BOV. Does this mean if I'm not prepeared to be a rice boy I should buy something else?
  16. Good stuff. I ran 13.8's back in the old gtst days with very little done as well. At this time people on the WA forum were telling me I couldn't run a 13. 3 inch Exhaust (standard cat) 10psi bleeder. Pineapples, they only cost $100 odd and are a 10min job to fit. I did mine on a 38deg C day though, on 205's with about 100kgs of work stuff in the car You couldn't have asked for a better night to race in terms of air quality. Very cold and reasonably dry air, excellent for making power. I think you have further shown how these cars don't like to be 'riced'. Simple little efficiency mods are all you need. Mid 13's are not hard to get either and you certainly don't need a front mounted intercooler. I think the vast majority of the front mounted cooler brigade in R33s with factory turbos are still stuck in 14's, where they belong.
  17. *do not to use platinum plugs, they are a waste of money. *do not to use the poisonous mushroom HKS filters, they filter beach sand and nothing finer. A K&N or piper cross panel filter replacement is good enough and you save a hundred on the 'rice' pods with no heat sheilding. *pull the boost restrictor plug out of the vacume line to the factory boost controller, will give you a little under a bar of boost, costs nothing.
  18. looks like a good thread for the 'for sale' section.
  19. I'd like to stick a kazoo in all your ricey BOV's it would sound cooler.
  20. 13_devil, If you haven't retarded your base timing a little ,you know your car might still be detonating now, you just can't hear it. There is no Shell Optimax in Perth either. Optimax is the 98 octane stuff. Shell premium is only 95 octane.
  21. To be some sort of Australian delivered group A, it needs to : *Be an Australian delivered GTR. Since 'Group A' reffers to that period and category of racing. *Have a diff and trans oil cooler standard *Have the 260kmh speedo *Have an aerial on the roof *Have the Nissan 'hamburger style' badge on the bonnet.
  22. Ustasa, It's something more skyline owners need to take on board. Even when people pull their motors down for a rebuild they almost never consider them.
  23. INASNT, The main problem with the factory exhaust manifold is that they occasionally are cast so that the ports don't match up. In some cases the ports match up fine in others there is material restricting it (I'm not sure of the fequency of a bad cast but, my old RB25 wasn't bad at all). Besides the fact that getting the exhaust manifold off is about as big a job as changing the camshafts. I know which one I'd rather do.
  24. There will be NO loss of response on the turbo with upgraded camshafts. In fact it does the opposite. Thats a fact jack.
  25. INASNT, consider the fact that an average of 20hp increase right the the rev range is more average power you will net from a PFC & intercooler upgrade combined. To fit and tune camshafts you are looking at $800 plus the cost of the cams, the cheapest I've seen is $800 for a pair of Tomei. Thats $1600 for a gain you are hard pressed to get on anything else. Plus the car is so much more responsive. Still seem like low bang for buck?
