  1. you can go pretty hard setup on the rear suspension as long as the front is stockish. Too stiff a setup at the front is what kills you. Too low as well. Get the KCA349 kit from whiteline suspension for the rear diff cradle. I have this kit and otherwise the suspension is stock.
  2. giz01, whats the damage on those? ( eg: 235/16's). Retreads? They must be the best value drag tyres around.
  3. Rbhead, It doesn't matter how you drive it. The ecu has a set map. a reset may fix a fault though.
  4. dremen, I ran a 13.4 and a bunch of 13.5's with: Std ecu, std intercooler, std turbo 10psi. Full exhaust, light flywheel and standard airbox with a replacement K&N element. I ran a 13.8 without the light flywheel. then again your mate is a guru so I must have dreamt it all (even the time slips I have posted).
  5. WazR32GTst, Just last nite. 13.3 @ 106mph (2.3 60ft). Letting down the tyres wrong let me down. I had 14.5psi in one and 18.5psi in the other and it was not predictable at all. The S-afc had to run a really rich map (read power killer) and I couldn't take it past 6000rpm because of a mystery knock that I can't get rid of. Had a real mixed bag of passes , most slow. 13.7s, a 14 even a 15. Other than that it was good fun as always. I went toe to toe with a drag torana in a burnout that had all the staging lane covered in smoke for a couple of minutes, so that was good.
  6. judged, Good to see a gtst in 12's. I wasn't aware what 60ft did ya get? I think the sticker thing is always about 'free advertising'. Race cars get money for it. Even in the V8 world we have our own version of 'rice'. 4cylinder escorts with twin 2 1/2 inch exhaust pipes as above with non functional hornet scoops. NOS stickers (hello police) and the list goes on. As I said before I don't get anoyed I just laugh, me and my mates used to sticker up peices of puss we owned as a joke.
  7. like i said if you don't know how much water was in the bucket to start with how can you tell how much is missing. take the engine out, dyno it. put it back in and dyno it. the difference is drivetrain loss. ultimately it doesn't matter. What matters is how fast you go. Then again if you were ging to use you car as a bore water pump then rwkw might help.
  8. several hundred HP of drivetrain loss is normal for engines of 1000HP capacity. YES they do melt a standard gearbox. As power increases at the motor the power loss through heat, noise and movement increases also. It's difficult to work out without having a motor reading and the rearwheel reading. Trying to guess the motor from rearwheel readings is quite pointless, and is just that A GUESS.
  9. factory boost solenoid limits the boost to about 7psi. It is quite possible that this is the problem, it self corrects. You can try and reset the ecu (Disconnect the battery overnight). Otherwise the only way to assure a 10psi level of boost is to buy a proper boost controller.
  10. summoner, whats the HC package worth? I'd like to have an LS-1 in the volvo, would fit no problems at all.
  11. i've got 16's 205/55's. try to keep the rear tyre profile tall (45's are not tall enough).
  12. I understand summoner. Over here stockish R33's seem to run a little on the slow side. Then again there are also many a slug LS-1's, just check out the wednesday night drags. Your ute is unusually quick amongst the LS-1 bretheren most of whom are floating around mid 14's or worse, including modified ones. I ran a 13.4 and a bunch of 13.5's with a pretty stock gtst, but it is as unusual as the 13.4 your ute did. Not fast all the same. Should organise a joint LS-1 and skyline gtst night and see how the average times work out. I reckon it would be close (and pretty slow average).
  13. can't drive around on slicks. Street strip tyres are another option. Don't think I'll need them tho.
  14. I might have to skip out of the hotel if I can't transfer any cash over. should I : a) do a runner in the morning B) go to the bar down stairs tonight with some ring ins and put it on my room --- then do a runer OR c) think fresh ; set fire to the hotel records and blame a group of rampaging communist monkeys
  15. I don't think it's the same one per-se, I believe you get a choice from the brothel that is sponsoring the comp. I think it is pretty sick.
  16. I beleive the hooker competition entitles the winner to the use of a hooker for one hr every evening for a year.
  17. hey joe. hi paul. The chicks in darwin are unique . You see they out beer gut the best blokes in many cases (beer cases i think). I can't believe there is a drink called 'flirtini' I mean what the hell? I also can't believe that dunk women think it's some sort of male attracting advertisement....no wait...I can.
  18. the darwin people have beaten the best bar tab destruction previously set in kalgoorlie. I just heard on darwin radio that they have a competition where you can win a hooker for a year! Can't believe this place sometimes.
  19. someone want to comment on my rubber chicken post? I'm all alone, my amex has no money in it and marketing don't like me...sniff
  20. yeah, don't take off the stickers, they are funny. I reckon you also need to wear a helmet, a nomex suit and gloves to complete the look.
  21. domo-kum is a poo monster.
  22. damn! This has been an expensive trip. I've just cooked my AMEX gold! no money left in it! That bar tab I bought last night was the last straw bloody darwinians, I can't believe the drinking ablillity of the girls up here (not conected facts)
  23. 29
  24. the chickens are an incentive for staff to promote my printers. Be the lexmark product champion for the month and win a rubber chicken. Finish last and recieve a sixpack of 'Pissweak beer' (It is the beers real name).
  25. riggaP, Mods are often poorly matched. In my experience people go about doing mods to their cars without a good plan.I have given quite a few expensive gtst's a chopping even at rolling in gear runs (where driver skill is negated to a greater degree). I've driven a few modded gtst's that were not a patch on mine when it was first bought. Plenty of these gtst's I can assure you are slower than a completely stock new gtst. Many people do not take into account that their base power on a car that has done 60,000kms is going to be a fair way down on a fresh from factory engine. It's a basic fact that you can't ignor.
