  1. ping---- 'rattle rattle rattle...'
  2. Did someone say intercoolers? Stock intercooler is a BAD place to start modifications. It offers very poor value for money when you are chasing 'the basics' and specially with only the stock turbo. If you have a budget of $3k or less leave it alone for now, and just make sure you have the other bases covered first. Unless of course you are made of money (New turbo's?) or like losing to much less modified skylines in races.
  3. ha ha.. you are funny. I would take you up on the challengen but, melborne is a fair way off. Why don't you think I can do it, after all it's just a drag strip?
  4. sikr33, Sorry if it seems a little discouraging. After all you are only trying to help out. The factory solenoid is nothing but a bottleneck for real performance. You will get better results with a bleeder performance wise and ultimately the very best results with an EBC. Keep looking for those 'free horsepower' ideas tho', I'm sure you will run into a few that people haven't tried and then the silence is golden.
  5. Well the takeoff is good. 2.1 60ft is fine. Getting lower is hard to do. The 13.4/.5s I did were at 2.1 also. Looks like you are losing something up top, rather than launch.
  6. TufR33, Sorry for not answering the original q's. I get on my soap box a bit A hiflow would be good, a modest sized intercooler upgrade (same flow as turbo spec). Fuel pump, reg and s-afc. Nigasnt, Ask yourself this (re: driverskill) : " how hard is it to drive in a straight line?". Not hard is it. Don't go to a track day till you can or there will be trouble!

  8. hurray another 13sec GTST! good time with an ordinary mph. What was the60ft?
  9. It's back again! It's possibly a regulation issue, I'll have a look at the vacumehose on the reg to check for splits. Then I'll have to look at fuel pump. Doh!
  10. NOS in WA = illegal. Fullstop.
  11. the 10psi will also cause a large timing retard by the factory ecu. Two steps forward one step back.
  12. I'd just leave the restrictor in, doesn't do anything to the boost on an R33. I tried it and it did.......NOTHING. Pull the restrictor out and put it in the air bleed end instead.
  13. only if you are comparing fat narcoleptics does this age category apply.
  14. hello. $#%* fridays!
  15. seem to have got rid of the drama, for the time being. I added some more fuel in the rev range from 4600rpm up. As much as 11%. I've given it one run so far. Will see if the issue returns on further tests.
  16. And there is nothing wrong with never taking your car to a dyno either.
  17. The trev shops like Chris Mills and and A1 etc. will run rings around most, they do nitrous installs in their sleep. If it's not a direct port system, the kits are designed for semi-morons to install. Tuning can be done on the dyno but, most basic setups are jetted 'spot on' with apropriate fuel pressure and supply. Shop around. For $2k or less a properly set up kit can be had.
  18. 40degrees advanced hey puckish? Thats luxury! I ad to ge out t' coal pit in t' mornin eat t' han full o gravel....
  19. I have run octane shmooster and it persists. Backed the timing off. I've got some BCPR7ES plugs in now and still it persists (better power delivery up top tho' with a nice 1.0mm gap. I'm thinking its a fuel thing, might have to try a big wack of extra fuel just before 5000rpm. The other thing it could be is cooling system (say it aint so!).
  20. Jet33, Spent less than $2,000 so far. A snick over $1k to get a 13.4 on little 205's (13.5's all day baby). The next outing will have me in 12's (still a slow car tho'). Well it looks like you do have problems running a mid 13 in your car, you haven't yet. Talk is cheap beat my time and shut me up NismoR34, drive around with your bonnet up? Care whether you have only one working gear in the gearbox? Dyno is a tuning device, dyno days are fun sure but if the point is trying to make sense of other peoples mods then you might want to make a few other comparisons before heading off down the dyno sheep path. Dyno's don't tell you how long it takes to accellerate, they can't emulate the areodynamic drag on a vehicle or airflow into cooling components. There is nothing wrong with never taking the car to any kind of motorsport. If it aint your bag say so and no one will get confused
  21. I'd say you just need more practice launching. I have had lots of practice over the years (even though I've only gone to the drags wth the line' twice). 205's will handicap you quite alot, if I had your 255's I be in the 1.9 second 60ft. stick with them and practice I reckon, or get some 225's at least with a tallish profile.
  22. I have removed the so called 'restrictor' in the past. It does nothing to an R33 is all I can say, but hey knock yourself out it won't harm anything.
  23. thats mine. It's back there now getting some work done on it (cooling system pressure flush) and the valve body on the trans looked at. I only gave it a little throttle, when it gets 'a bit of stick' it screams quite a supprise if it's next to you on the road and it drops back a gear.
  24. Jay95R33, Nah, it's not harmonics. Your knock sensors don't pick that up. I take the dyno tune advise on board, I've got to admit defeat unless someone has encountered this before. Anyone got a spare gtr fuel pump?
