No I wear thermal underwear and say 'helooo.. I'm Haaarns Vargenhoopenspigger, brothdeer of de swedish chef'
-
yeah that could work too.
-
jimiH, That is normal my friend, just say thankyou to the factory computer for retarding the timing and richening the fuel MAP. Dump pipe will give you a couple of extra revs.
-
angel, the high flow cat won't do much, the dump pipe will tho'. You will love it!

Gradenko & Turbomad. the funny thing about dyno comparisons between intercoolers is the flow of air around the car does not even remotely resemble driving on the road. And since external airflow is one of the biggest factors effecting an intercoolers performance you might find the dyno skewing the figures a fair bit, especially since the peak power figures in 4th gear are taken at around 160+ kmh. Do you really think the intercooler is getting the same amount of air through it on the dyno as 160kmh+? But, I'll give you that the larger front mount picks you up the power anyway. Where it does not help is in the time taken for air to travel from turbo to plenum at boost of 10psi or less, time my friends that costs you in the 400m. Larger turbo is the time to go a larger cooler, fine if you always intended to get a big turbo go buy a bigger intercooler. I am not against front mount intercoolers at all, its just I think they are poor value for money for people like me who don't want to visit the circuit racetrack on a regular basis. Finally, let the intercooler champions put their money where their mouth is : run some better times than I do, with the same basic mods and I'll give the idea some more consideration. Thats fair isn't it?

The stock rods are probably fine is crack tested and machined for that sort of power, if the budget doesn't stretch. You need some good rod bolts and pistons though.
-
No...but I'm thinking I should now. Yes, there must be something to enjoy about pointing out the fact that you 'only run 10psi'. Perhaps its the way you point it out? You can say it: ..with contempory dance. ..with an artistic arrangement of pocket lint. ..in music, that when played backwards says ' I only run 10psi' ..by cross promoting with Mac Donalds, the '10psi burger' - guarenteed to produce flatulence at or below 10psi.

Good point. The Neo engine's are rated at 208kw flywheel from factory as opposed to the 187kw of the R33. Possibly there is a slight flow improement at the compressor, assuming other factors are not responsible. I think since I am not privy to the compressor map either, I will reisign my position.

I have a bleeder/spiker, they suck! Mind you I only run 10psi.

Sorry I shouldn't have used the word 'fabricate' in that sentence, I don't doubt that the dyno did read 200rwkw, you could see that on the video. I am sure the 'real' flywheel kw would tell a different story however. There is simply not enough 'flow' in the standard turbo for an accurate figure of over 200rwkw, on pump gas at 1 bar. The tune however looked sucessfull because there was at least before and after sessions. I agree about the soarer, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that the standard turbos are worth a bit of a go.
-
what do you want the car to do ?
-
I take your point's : Magazines tend to fabricate things a little , HPI's R34GTT does 200rwkw with factory turbo? I don't think so. On the other hand there is alot to said for trying to squeeze out the last bit of performance from stock parts. At least doing this often costs nothing to very little.

Merli, Cheers mate. I hope to get there on the 205's too which will make the claim (if I ever get there) more reliable for others to follow should they have the same thing in mind (ie: they can expect a time similar or better if they run wider tyres than me). GTS-t Vspec, I am faster dispite you having the full engine management, EBC, Trust plenum, fuel regulator and all that other stuff I would love to steal off your car. Oh well I won't be faster for long if you get the GT30 turbo on there.

Most of the portable tyre inflators suck. They take a million years to inflate a tyre, thats fine if you have the luxury of time but, when the staff at the plex are kicking you out it isn't helpfull. I just drove home on 20psi. If you do get one get the mother of all 4wd tyre inflators so it takes less time. My friend a frount mount will only hold me back, it will dull the response of the stock turbo in the mid range. It is not something I'd even consider doing till I had a replacement turbo fitted and a few other things. As such it does not even appear on my list.
-
Run a dump pipe in? If done right it either seals or it doesn't. You will/should notice better turbo response (down low) and improved top end, along with a bit more boost. The next thing to do is to wrap it in thermal tape, allth way to the cat.

Stopping Your BOV From Leaking - A How To

some got a g-tech or something to measure th effect propperly? -
Just finished changing the plugs and new rocker cover gaskets, geez there isn't much room for the roller rockers under the cover. Now it just needs a timing fiddle and some mixture adjustments.

VISHES, I agree with you about 'street trim' thats why I haven't put slicks on the car. Everything else I do is 'street trim' including the tyre pressure. I drove around after the drags with 20psi in my tyres, I just don't fang it around corners. The 12 pass is there without stripping weight, the mph is high enough if I can reduce the 60ft to 2.0 or 1.9. That would probably require some better tyres, which I can't be bothered buying till these ones wear out, after all its a work car. -
$400 - $600 for the S-afc for around 20-30rwkw gain on the stocker. Tripple that plus for a cheap PFC (add more dyno time) and you end up with about 5rwkw on top of the S-afc (If you are lucky) go the pfc if you are going to go mad on a tubo upgrade later and have the cash all the same.
-
I'll get to the picks soon. It looks very stock apart from the noise it makes, and reasonably wide pirelli P9000's on the back
-
Not the intercooler! plugs too hot? (go a colder set) Too much timing?

Got the New family car today. It's a 1978 Volvo 244 Wagon , but before you start screaming and running in horror (you can do that after). It has something different about it : *Worked 308 -- Forgies, roller rockers , head work etc... bout 340HP when tuned up right. * Turbo 350 trans --- Shift kit , no stall. * LSD Diff. Its Red... its ugly... it just might kick your ass with a load of shopping and three kids in the back.

giz01, try again mate the skylines downunder web site keeps overloading as of this post it was working fine. -
NO. I can and have run 1bar without any for a quick blast, I did this once never again (just in case)
-
do the cams, not the head work. Doesn't require an engine strip.
