paint the pipe. Cure it. wrap the pipe evenly (very important) and then paint over it. The idea is to prevent moisture build up when cold and also does a little to protect the wrap. Even application of the heat wrap is important so as to avoid hot/cold spots.

buy one from nissan, they aren't that expensive.

Sorry Modena , We are using a alot of bananas at the moment. We need to conserve them and observe designated banana times according to street number. If it wasn't for the shortage you certainly deserve more than 4. It's a relative indication at this stage.
-
Ok 4 bananas for you and one for BLK33T ?

I just check my idiot licence and because it's still valid I am allowed to post in this thread ! Woo Hooo! Alicia, Sounds like you've earnt your hobby in an honest way, end of story. Getting into sewer threads like this means often people splash the poo about. Best course of action is to award bananna's BLK33T ; Two banannas :P Modena ; Three banannas Anyone who cares to battle it out in a VS thread ; lifetime

great curve that one. Would be awsome to drive. The power is very similar to Ryan1200's but alot smoother. He was running 2530's on a standard stroke Rb26. Got to be 2530's I reckon.

What you reckon is basically attached to being unable to drive a faily slow car off the line at the drag strip. Ask him (2rismo) how to drive a car off the line, actually go to the drags and talk to people who race. They are friendly and believe me getting a 8 second car off the line and down the track safely and worse trying to run in a bracket involves far more skill than the slow 12/13 second cars lots of guy punt around in. They will point you in the right direction in no time. Then you just practice what you get told. It's instant improvement. I was at the drags a few weeks back not racing and talked to a couple of young blokes with skylines and helped them both lop half a second off their times with one conversation after they had been running the usual 'forum expected' times all night. The lessons are usually short and mostly it just involves using the two ears on your head. Biggest problem with guys racing thier street cars is that they talk amongst themselves about how to launch a car, it's a pool of ingorance. And on this forum it's been that way ever since. I remember copping all sorts of flak when I ran 13.8 in a fairly stock gtst on 205's and even more when I ran 13.4 on the same tyres, I seem to recall you gave me some of that flak back then too? Based on non-wanker power numbers 170-ish rwkw is enough for a high 12 in a gtst 190rwkw is an easy 12, simple as that. And proven to boot. Now why don't people start asking how they can do the same thing? Your mph says you have an 11 second car there, so the good news is theres plenty of time to lose from your 13.3

mods to the motor? Application for car?
-
I'll note my tune settings for the cam timing this time round so once I show you how much cams slap the stock ones you can go ahead and buy with confidence and also have a pretty good starting point for optimum settings. What other mods will you have on yours?
-
Perhaps altering things like the head through porting/ combustion chamber and compression you can wind up needing different specs for optimum results but, I you'd still get more our of a set of upgraded cams designed around the motors characteristics with more lift at any point where positive boost is being built. The fact is we are stuck with off the shelf cams meaning we get to pick sometimes from a bunch of 'wrong cams' (including stockers) and just get the closest fit from what we have to choose from vs a purpose designed set for our specific motor setup and application. I'm guilty of buying like this and a case in point is when the cams are better than what you have and the price is cheaper than the set thats really better. Setting up cams properly is something thats always been in the minority across the tuning world, whether you talk NA or V8 or turbo. The people who actually make cams (experts) seldom are consulted by mechanics installing them leading to alot of poor reputation and crap talk on the street 'brand x is so much better than brand y always...'. The skyline tuning community at large seems to suffer the same issue where people seem to be suprised when cams do or don't work as if it's been caused by some sort of magic. After I had various 'magic' convinced people tell me I was going to waste money and recieve less performance, as I had already calculated I've managed to pull more down low power out of Tomei 260's on small stock turbos than people can get from stock cams and adjustable wheels. I have no doubt I can replicate the same feat with any turbo of larger size. The only area the stock cams are going to be better is in emissions and the NA part of the power band. Based on the theory of how cams work, thats what you naturally expect. I'm certainly no expert so that's why on the odd occasion I think of cams as an upgrade I try to get in touch with info from the people who make them to determine what I need to do. I'm going the Tomei 260/256 this time round for the GT-SS turbo's later on, will be tuned for 300rwkw or less to be kind to the old stock engine but, I'll be shooting for lots of low/mid power. I'll be taking the pepsi challenge again to show how povo the stock cams are 'again' when properly timed and tuned.

Interesting. can't see why you wouldn't go upgraded cams. You can lay the smack down on standard cams with the tomei 260's on even stock GTR turbo's. between stockers power and 400rwkw without question , there is plenty of benifit to be had. This includes making more power than standard cams even at lower rpm ranges.
-
tomei type A 260 intake and 256 exhaust 9.1mm lift. Jun offer the largest non machined lift bolt in cams.
-
They are very easy to rebuild at least. Rotor's can be made into very reliable race motors.
-
depends on what you are doing with the car and what upgrades you have.
-
The No 1 posi is taken by the Ultima GTR , 5 seconds faster than the CCX with top gear wing.
-
Not alot. 250rwkw would be plenty.

you may also have air in the cooling system. Try re-bleeding /top up of coolant. If you don't bleed the system when changing coolant you are in for grief.
