  1. the apexi rsm can be had for $300 direct from the usa.. and i thought that was really cheap.. 300 bux is nothing.
  2. yep, your right the demand of P platers for legal cars is driving the prices. Its just a simple case of supply and demand. As for buying a turbo and dropping in a NA motor, you'd most likely still get done for it because the car would be recorded on the RTA/Vicroads etc database as a turbo.
  3. I agree with what you say on getting the right bits that suit the intended purpose. I still stand by my statement that exedy are crap. Even after talking directly to Kabel Davis who runs exedy Aust, I am still convinced they are rubbish. Of the Exedy dealers i have had to deal with, most of them hate the product. The reason for recommending a super single ORC clutch is that is a single plate that is still driveable on the street while being able to cope with increased power outputs of engines. We all boost things and play...
  4. try DHL or FEDEX.. but they will both be expensive..
  5. easy and safest way is either HKS - SLD - Speed limit defender or APEXI - RSM either one will remove the limiter, although I would go the apexi, at least it will give you a few other functions you might find useful on a track.
  6. that F1 clutch looks like rubbish.. Exedy are crap. Go for an ORC clutch and flywheel - for something up to 250rwkw you only need a super single ORC unit...
  7. Boss audio is crap. Always has been, always will be. Buy a brand name, headunits have dropped dramatically in price, so there is no reason not to get something will all the goodies for 400 bux or so at a max..
  8. Yeah, these things are ok and work well. They are about 1.2 cuft internal volume, so as long as your sub will run sealed in that volume it should work ok. There is another company innovation audio that makes these as well, the cost twice as much and the build quality is poor.
  9. welcome to victoria the revenue state... Next safeway will put these in their stores to make sure we dont race trolleys...
  10. wrong - there is nothing you can be fined for as their are no specific laws relating to in car dvd's. some new car are fitted from factory with screens that function at speed... They simply have a menu to either enable or disable the screen when the car is in motion. Sometimes the menu's are user accessable, sometimes they are dealer accessable with a scan tool. To, the original poster, just ground the wire from the dvd to the handbrake. And if you ever run up the back of someone cos u were watching a movie, well, never admit it, you'll be screwed on insurance.
  11. r34 smic on a r33 will handle 200rwkw easy... but if you want something a little better and still stealthy, get yourself a r34 ARC SMIC.. harder to find, but worth it,,, they flow nearly as a front mount does without the heatsoak or the r34 smic... or at least that has been the experience with the ARC cooler on my 33...
  12. I asked a mate before replying to this, he is a cop, pretty high up on his definition of a man trap. He looked into it and told me that under the definition of the law it is any device purposely made to harm, mame or kill a person. Your device would fall into this catagory. As for a warning notice, even if you had one you'd get your ass handed to you in court. there have been plenty of cases already through the courts where there have been clear warning signs and people have been hurt. those people that have been hurt have sued and won big time. Even in the case of people either doing stupid or illegal things. an electric fence around a property is a little different than what you are proposing as the fence is not on public land, such as a car park, but on private land. however having said that, its my understanding that even someone injured on private land, even while trying to commit a crime can sue. you have to look at it this way dude, there are so many things that could go woring, why open yourself up to potential dmages. we already had the example of a child... what about someone with a pacemaker, a small amount of current can cause them to fail. or if your electrical device malfunctioned after a collision or if your electrical device caused a collision or if you were to park against something and somehow it caused a fire. etc, etc... there are plenty of decent ways to protect your car, but if your really that paranoid about it i would suggest sell your car and buy a car you dont car about..
  13. From what I know through some industry contacts, I can tell you that GM Aust is now trying to sell commodores directly in the US under the GM badge as police cars. GM Aust has built one protype car for the LAPD. It is based on the VE however the equipment list is different from the Aust spec VE's used for our police. The reason for this is that the americans require a large car with load carrying capacity and a V8 engine for pursuit. Ford US currently makes a car for most law enforcement in the USA, however this car has been scrapped under the Ford restructure that Obama made happen in order for Ford to get a $9bil us loan. GM Aust have also shown this new prototype to Russia and several european countries. Most of Europe gave it a very cold shoulder. GM Aust are hinging their hopes on the sale of this car to US authorities, it would represent about 70,000 vehicles per annum and would ensure that GM Holden stays in operation in Aust. There are several things that could cause this to fail. - US car unions not allowing that volume as imports - GM USA going under - The car failing field tests - Aust unions and work shut downs - Aust component manufacturers going under and GM not having the bits to build the cars. If GM Aust was to fail there are several viable options. - All manufacturing moved to either Thailand or china or commodore - No commodore or variants and all GM product imported - Manufacturing her in Aust closed and moved to existing plants in either Thailand or China It Would effect tier 1 and teir 2 parts suppliers here in Aust as well as many dealerships who have already had to battle with loosing floor plan finance and are currently running the lowest amount of new car stocks in around 20 years. Many teir 1 and teir 2 component suppliers would most likely close. And those that dont close would have to lay off staff to survive. Which is what happened to me 3 weeks ago. More car dealers would close. The other factor in Aust to watch out for is the upcoming release of the chinese cars now that a couple of them have been able to pass ADR testing. The Lifan 520, GWM and Cherry cars will hit the market hard and offer new cars much cheaper than the existing offers from any manufacturer we currently have here. Sources - GM Holden Marketting, Atteco Aust (importer or Cherry and GWM)
  14. LOL... most auto electricians are hopeless with alarms.. They are great rewinding alternators, but not so smart with wiring. In fact they will go the other way and tell you to rip the alarm out or it cant be done with a turbo timer. either way if your in melbourne go see Stylin on the east side or Hektik on the northside. Either place will be able to sort it out for you.
  15. Easiest way to do it mate is to take the front bar off to get the parkers etc. Just pop the grill out - it just clips in. Under where the grill went are 2 or 3 screws, remove them. The front bar is then bolted to the body in behind each guard - just find the bolts on each side and remove them. Now with everything undone the front bar with fog lights will come off with a little bit of light pressure. It should take you 20 minutes or something to have the whole thing apart.
  16. top gear australia is so gay they should have their own float at the mardi gra... I am sure a couple of the hosts would be used to wearing ass-less chaps...
  17. best thing to do after you buy all the components to do this is get yourself a really good lawyer. the first person to be injured, even a thief could sue you for damages. the cops would most likely do you for intention to mame or building a mantrap, either one would be jail time...
  18. I have one... they are a great little unit. Holds boost very well, easy to install, tune and conceal in the car...
  19. I have a HDI EBC, great little bit of gear, easy to install and adjust, holds boost very well.
  20. to grond the rca's you need to - be careful - cut through the plastic sheilding of the rca cable til you get the braided cable..(this goes to the outer part of the rca plug.. and it may also be a wire rather than braid on cheap rca... - do not break this braid/wire - join another wire onto it - becareful when soldering as to not burn through your rca's totally - do near both ends of the rca cable - once you have a wire soldered in at each in - earth each wire directly to the chasis - do not earth them to other wires or amp/head unit earths. thats about it, take your time and dont rush..
  21. heres a few things to have a look at. re-earth your car not just the amp. That crappy earth wire that runs from the passenger inner guard to the exhaust manifold on a r33 needs to be replaced with something that is thicker and can handle more current difference. Your head unit, a nice thick piece of graound cable from the chasis of the car to the chasis of the head unit. Your power wire from the amp to the battery, move it away from the fuses and main feed for the car. your earth wire on your amp - connect it to a different bolt in the boot than the factory earthing bolt under the battery. make sure all the connectors you use are soldered, dont just rely on those crappy "gold" screw type connectors. RCA's - twisted pair is a marketting ploy to get more $$ outta you. The amount of money you would need to spend on a system to hear an actual difference in RCA performance is more than you would spend buying a r33. you can just always earth the outer sheilding on your existing rca's aswell.. if you do these basic's it should be fine as long you have good quality equipment. My amp sits on a piece of timber mounted above a hi-flow intank fuel pump and the system has no noise to it.
  22. yeah dont stress over it mate, just drop the battery, reset the ecu and you'll be fine. although I would pull out the quicktrak and chuck it in the bin.. they are rubbish...
  23. take it to creatd - talk to Danny - 03 93577663. Danny knows what he is doing and your car will be in the best hands.
  24. Simple.. Take the car to a professional installer and pay him for his/her time to remove your alarm system.
  25. yes they can re-issue an infrigement notice. And no, it wont guarantee you get off, it may only help. The more doubt that is cast over the police's version of events the better when trying to get off something. But, in the end, it comes down to how your lawyer performs on the day and how hard/soft the judge is. And that is one of the major factors that no-one can predict in a court case.
