Any1 Got A Installation Diagram 4 A Repeller Car Alarm?
frx026 replied to avalanche's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
you would be better off getting a garden gnome to guard your car. Go, grab a hammer, smash it and then get a decent alarm. -
unfortunatley for you the motorist, the police officer does not have to have any special knowledge or actual knowledge of a vehicle to defect it. A police officer only has to suspect something is illegal to issue a defect. It is then up to you at your cost to prove that you are right, or fix the problem. Most of the time the police officer in question would have no clue about parts, about modifications, about what is legal and what is not. It all goes back to their poor training and the forces drive to get statistics so they can be seen to be doing something.
-
Before you spend any money find out the FACTS from Vicroads about what you will need to do have the defect cleared. Also find out why your are meant to be assessed by only one vicroads staff member in Victoria. It would not suprise me if you have been harrassed for owning an imported car by a police officer that has no idea of the rules and regulations. Unfortunately the police do not need to prove a modification or vehicle is in a roadworthy condition, they only need to suspect it to issue a defect notice. That is why you find out from vicroads first. If you find that you have been harrassed and this officer has acted unlawfully or has made it unduelly hard on you to clear your defect you may be entitled to seek compensation from Victoria Police for all costs incurred due to this officers lack of knowledge. I would also recommend keeping all paperwork and writing a letter to the office of police integrity to complain of the harrassment and improper directions given to you to clear your defect notice. A black mark on a Police officers file last's a lot longer than a defect notice on the window, and i can tell you from experience if you do make a complaint and then you are further harrassed you will be able to escalate your complaint and land that particular officer in more trouble. Tips, Keep all paperwork and receipts, try where possible to get written advice from vicroads/ vic police on how to clear your defect have your defect cleared by someone not listed on your notice write all facts down in a logical sensible manner, dont exagerate or lie. Hey mate, Have a look at these two, might be the products you are looking for. Product 1 Product 2 The first one would be nice, the second one better as it is higher powered and will give you more output. Either way the both come with, sub, amp, box and cables.

I havent done any high tech fuel analysis or anything, but what i can tell you is filling up with v power racing in melbourne near the westgat and driving to albury on one tank the car ran great, smooth, heaps of power to overtake. In albury they didnt have the racing one, so i went the shell v power. Felt like driving a hyundai excel. No power, chewed the fuel and ran like crap. My 'test car' is a 1996 series 2 with some mild tuning, std turbo and other bolt on bits and pieces. shell v power racing - good shell v power - bad

Those Remote Control Alarms And Gsm Alarms
frx026 replied to Angus Smart's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Please, sell your car before you run into something much more expensive that what you own and cant afford to pay for it. Every car is insurable, no matter what mods. and no car is unstealable no matter what system is in it. -

Ebay = CRAP. Few reasons - no australian warranties - do not meet australian standards ( read no insurance when you make a claim) - inferior product passed off as something else There are systems here in Australia, which are australian standards apporoved, insurance approved and readily available. Carminder Black Widow Clifford Autowatch Brandt Mongoose to name but a few. All can and will do what you want. Now, read this carefully, Are you a licenced installer of security products? Are you a qualified Installer? Have you got more than 5 years industry experience? If you answered NO to those questions then do yourself a favour, dont install it yourself, get it doen by a professional. Most backyard installs while they might technically work can be gotten around and totally disabled in seconds, GSM pager or not. Honestly mate, if you are that paranoid about having your car knocked off pay a few bucks to someone that does it all the time. oh, and for those that forgot ebay = crap. -
let me know where and when should be ok.

For a member of the public to report a "hooning offence" and proove it is very difficult. If it was to go to court there are numerous ways to pick apart " the expert witness" have you had a fine? do you drive a high powered car? did you follow the speeding car? have you had your speedo recently calibrated? have you done a vic police approved speed estimation course? etc... It would also be interesting to hear your definition of hooning and how it relates to the anti hoon laws recently implemented. Perhaps you could point out the section of legislation that this individual alledgedly committed offences against. OR You saw some idiot driving 3 km over the limit, his car was low or loud, your jealous, whatever it doesnt matter, but you thought you would bring it to the attention of a respectable skyline community and make a hero out of yourself. Tell me and be honest that you have never broken the law? never lost traction? never had a beer and got behind the wheel? never illegally parked? I have. But. I have learnt from my mistakes. I have also many years ago had the misfortune of hitting a person with a car. Let me tell you mate, the feeling you get when you see a pair of legs in the air, hear the bang as the car hits them is the worst feeling imaginable. Have you ever looked over at someone and thought you have killed them? Luckily I was only doing 40Kph and the person was not seriously injured. But I still had that bad feeling. So look at it this way, I would rather run over 100 cats than swerve and run the risk of mowing down some kid playing in their driveway. If you feel so bad, then do something to actually help the situation, go find the owner of the deceased animal, buy them a new one, bury the old one and get on with your life.

Actually your right. OLD SCHOOL sony head units were very good and were commonly used by people in high end sq cars in competitions. The old cdxca900 - brass chassis, no amp, 4v regulated rca was one of these units. But.. Unfortunately for sony when they introduced "xplod" and spent their money on marketing AXL ( the name given to the spikey haird mascot for xplod) they cut back dramatically on the build quality and output of their product. It is no secret that sony have been downsizing their operation here in Australia in relation to car sound. Their product has simply lost quality and in turn market share. I guess after 11 or so years of dealing with sony at different levels I feel confident enough to say this. As for the other Brand, sure it isnt the only one on the market, it's my favorite at the moment for a couple of reasons. 1 - great value for moeny 2 - looks impressive 3 - sounds good 4 - excellent "bang for buck" Have you heard the NEW Fusion equipment? There are other brands out there sure, and if I was to list all the brands that were better than sony it would be a long post. I will give sony a point for something, they are one of the few cd player manufacturers that continue to make a black faced head unit to fit in looks wise with vehilces. Nothing worse than having a nice car and a silver piece of CRAP hanging ut of the dash ruining the look of the interior.

Banning Performance Cars From P Platers = More Deaths
frx026 replied to scathing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Dick Johnson - Aussie Racing legend and Nice guy was recently quoted as saying "ban low performancee drivers, not high performance cars" Surely the key here is education to drive within the limits of the vehicle and the road conditions. -
mate, thats the idea. As for those that may wish to debate/argue etc. YES, i have simplified it for the forum YES, vehicle accoustics are more complex YES, designing a great system takes time NO, I am not going to write a 10000000 word essay.

Try some of the new Fusion Powerplant speakers. They will KILL the sony's any day of the week. As for what i am running? ok, here is the system which is now coming out. front - usd waveguides rear - 6" 2 ways sub - 2 x 12" amp 1 - 4 channel 4 x 185 rms amp 2 - monoblock - 1500rms @ 2 ohm As i said it is coming out, and believe it or not, the new Fusion power plant gear is going in. Front - 6" splits rear - 6" two ways sub 2 x 12" amp 1 - 4 channel yet to be decided amp 2 - monoblock 555rms @ 4 ohm amp 3 - monoblock 555rms @ 4 ohm By the way, the car is a 96 series 2 R33.. Why take the old one out, simple, update every 12 months.

I think you will find that even though the sub fires dowwards it is not mounted hard against the floor plate, it is raised above it and creates a gap between the face of the woofer and the plate. You will also find the yamaha's are ported to help with bass reproduction. My example was talking about vehicle applications where a subwoofer is mounted hard up against metal with little or no gap.
-
should sound great, except for the sony speakers and crap amp. There is a reason why they call their speaker "xplode". For the same money there are other brands on the market that will perform much better.

you have to remember it is not only the design of the box, but how the design of the box suits the accoustics of the car. You used the classic example of the commodore, seats down or boot open you gets stacks of bass, seats up or boot closed you get nothing. The subs might be the best subs in the world, the box might be the right design, the right size and made with the best materials, but it does not suit the accoustics of the car. An R33 can be made to sound good, and that can be either for sheer volume or for sound quality. It just takes a clever design. The boxes that Autobarn sell for example are ok for use, why? they effectively load the woofer accross the width of the boot meaning that the sound wave from the front of the woofer is longer and therefore bass can be produced. In english.. If you fire your subs straight at the metal backed seats, ala commodore the sound is killed before a soundwave can be produced. Open the seat or the boot and the wave can be formed producing a sound we call bass. Loading a speaker means firing it at a durface to create a greater effect. This can be done in a r33 relativly easy by firing the subwoofer accross the width of the boot. Now, when you are using two, there is a slight trick to it, dont fire the subs directly at eash other. You can have what is called accoustic cancelling. Think of it like this. You drop a rock in a pool of water. It creates a wave. If you drop a rock of the same size weight etc a certain distance away you could produce another wave. If the high point of one waves hits the low point of another it would in theory mean the water is still. So, with the woofers, aim them at a slight angle facing the front of the car, it only needs to be 5 or so degrees, just enought so that they are not facing directly at each other. Bang, no cancellation. Now, volume or sound quality. Sound quality you will need responsive speakers with a moderate amount of power and most likely the subs will be turned down considerably from their maximum potential. Volume, or the typical street system. High powered amps, woofers and good cabling will yeild great results, You can do things like "swiss cheese" that removable metal plate, or remove it completly ( may effect vehicle structure), remove padding from the back of the seats etc. But you will end up with a system that is loud, clear and will be heard. So, theres a couple of tips and my 2c, i hope you read it all, it took me a good 3 or 4 minutes to type this out.

One other thing to consider is the type of sensor you are dealing with. Is it a microwave or ultrasonic sender? Is it a pressure or vibration sensor? etc... Basically microwave sensors emit a signal that can travel through glass, park the car in a tin shed and the signal travels out the glass hits the relective surface of the tin, is dispersed and may error the alarm. Microwave sensors are generally un relialbe as they can also be tempreture dependant. Ultrasonics emit a sound wave within the vehcile, the use a sender and a receiver and operate when the wave being sent is interupted. These are a lot more reliable, are not tempreture sensitive or prone to errors. The other thing to consider is that if you are not happy with the way the system has been installed in the vehicle then take it somewhere else, tell them you bought the car with the alarm in it and then ask them for an opinion. You may be surprised at how crap the first companies instal was.

a 40 amp power supply should do the trick and they are available from car audio distributors for anywhere between 450 and 2000 dollars. One thing to think about to is the level the amp will see. Your computer from a set of rca style outputs will only have a weak signal output, probably less than 1 volt. A car audio amp is designed to see between 2 and 8 volts generally. so you will need to run a line driver, car eq etc to boost up the signal before it goes into the amp, otherwise no volume. Or... Go to Jaycar, buy the piece of crap amp, wire your 2 subs at 8 ohm so the amp does not shut down and you have bass. This is the easist most cost effective way to do it.

Those Remote Control Alarms And Gsm Alarms
frx026 replied to Angus Smart's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
great, give me $10000 per year and i will make sure your car is ok, you wont even be able to drive it. Now, for the sensible response, what is your budget? where are you? what car? does the car have existing - turbo timer? electric windows? electric mirrors? sunroof? electric gas cap? central locking? auto/manual gearbox? -
ebay = crap. that is all.
-
most likely no more than 10 amp, and yes, just cut the wire, insert a fuse holder, place fuse in holder, and well, bob's your uncle, or aunty if your that way inclined..
-
ok, here's the deal, if you could find the alarm box and remove so could a thief, so to fix you car, take it somewhere that specialises in alarms and security, not the dodgy $44 p/hour place, a good installer is worth much more than that, and then, get it rewired and re programmed with the box hidden.
-
honestly, take the stacker out, get a hammer smash it! or then there is always ebay. Get your self a good MP3 player, that way you can get away from the crap that is Sanyo, um er Kenwood..
-
wire it up with a fuse on the power line. switch power on/off. this way you don't have active 12v going through it when you are not using it and you have a fuse if something goes wrong..
