Time for random thread of the week. Over the past twelve months or so or so my uncle, cousin and I (along with random other friends and family dropping in to lend a hand) have been slowly restoring an old HQ Monaro as a surprise present for my dads 50th using funding from the rest of the family. We want it to look exactly like his old Bogan basher used to, as this car has a really strong sentimental value to my dad and given this, so a few of my family members have suggested we try and get some NSW plates for it simply for that extra authenticity effect when he first opens the garage. I only hope he doesn’t decide to bring back his old Ringo-esque hair (not much hope of that actually), moustache, chops and leather jacket to go with it. The car won’t be driven on the plates at all, they will simply be on the car for show when he first gets it for that extra visual impact. Only reason I am posting up on here is I have no relatives left in New South so I was wondering if somebody could help me out, I will be willing to pay for the plates and it isn’t overly important what type they are. If anybody could help me out with this it would be much appreciated Cheers Ryan

That’s a bit of overkill, it is a "roadworthy" vehicle, it was able travel from Caulder to the boat and then to move onto and off the boat all under its own power. All lights and indicators work, no leaks of any sort, tires are good, it’s not overly low and I can put silencers in the pipes to quiet it down. Straight from VICROADS: 1. A vehicle to be used between the hours of 7:00pm and 7:00am, except in the following circumstances - • where a vehicle is collected from the place of purchase to be driven to the residence of the owner or the garaged address nominated on the permit; or single trip journeys where specified on the permit form Show me a burnt out three wheeled shell that can do that

What about a Jaycar interceptor or getting the proper gear to run your speedo. Sorry know its not an answer, but thought I would suggest it
-
Just make sure you check your alignments when you are done as they can be thrown out. But yeah, they are a joke to fit compared to 32’s with their stupid hydraulics. Also, I suggest pulling the HICAS bulb in your cluster as it will stay on when you remove it
-
It doesnt need to go over the pits in VIC to get a permit, what a joke, in vic you can get them over the phone. Pretty much everything you said doesnt apply, but thankyou, I do appreciate the input anyway (serious) Anyway, cars here so all the doubters, NER NER NER THREAD OVER

Diff witing for a good home -
Thanks for that Stuart. When I was on the boat last time there were 3 fully caged evos on there with no plates and plastered in stickers so Im not sure about the whole RWC thing, i think its a crock of shit, my car is more road worthy thatn some of the old cooners Ive seen boarding before

Hey guys I was just wondering who has taken an uncomplianced vehicle or a vehicle on an unregistered vehicle permit across on the Spirit of Tasmania? I called the other day and they said that I needed to have a RWC on the car to take it on, but the reason it is on an unregistrable vehicle permit is because it isn’t road worthy. If anybody could give me any advice or let me know of any experiences they have had with this it would be great. I have checked out freight options and that looks like it may be the go at this point, however it would be somewhat of a hassle to get the car to the docks. Cheers Ryan

I got one, pm me if you want it
-
Have you put this on the VL turbo forums, might sell quicker on there, also try ausrotary. I can put up an ad for you if you want just send me a pm Also what are you going to be running on the car after this?
-
Ok so first, go send that guy his oil relocation kit Then when you have done that, check the computer. Mine did EXACTLY the same thing when I stripped my engine down. I did everything, even pulled apart the afm to check the board and cleaned that with contact cleaner, cleaned the afm, checked plugs, the comp, checked injector voltage, afm voltage blablabla. I did everything except for one of the most basic and easiest things I could have checked. Turns out somehow I got my ecu mixed with my mates when both our cars were in pieces in the garage and I had a s1 ecu, swapped back and went fine.

Welcome! What colour is the Stagea? I have started to see a few around town, gotta love the volvo-ness of them

Hey t01-100 who did your cage? I just saw it in the whats happening with your car thread and it looks awesome, mine is also going into an FD
-
Yeah im looking at a chromoly setup. Dammit I hate living down here sometimes, love the place (with the exception of the bogans) but it just pisses me off, parts I used to be able to get from my mates down the street I now have to send away for or pay through the arse

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anybody in the Launceston area has a welder they would be willing to loan me, or even if they would be able to help me by doing the welding for me as my skills were average at best when I worked in an engineering company back in Melbourne. I will compensate with an amount of cash obviously. Also, who does roll cages down here as I still consider myself a newb to the area given its only been 5 months or so. Any help regarding wither of these questions would be great Cheers Ryan

price drop = SPLITFIRES $400 The rest shall remain the same (bear in mind they are neg.) plenty of talk but so far no cash, first person who shows me the $$$ get them -
I always ran rb30 filters on my car, my friend worked at a certain large automotive store and got them for "free". Autobarn stock Motul turbolight which is the only oil I would reallly run in an rb, not sure but other places might aswell. As for dynos in Launceston, a few places that dont have dynos down here in launceston can still tune your car as they get the car transported to tafe and use the dyno there.

Hey mate, I just sold my 33 with a somewhat similar setup (externally gated 3037 blah blah) and FARRRRKKKKKKKK did I get some wankers out there. I was getting riduculous offers. I remember some guy came and had 3 looks at the car and then even had me take it to his mechanics and the mechanic even said it was a nice car, and then he offered me 13,000. I was like "Hmmm well considering its got a built engine, tomei cams, hks turbo, trust manifold, hks wastegate, hks exhaust, apexi PFC, hybrid fmic, braided teflon lines, q45 afm and makes 320 rwkw..........I politely accecpt your off and suggest you go ram yourself". My suggestion, do as I did. Stock it out and sell the parts on here and then sell the car on its own. You have plenty of quality parts which will easily get a decent price on here and will equate to MUCH more than if you sold it as a total package. I even ripped my engine out and put a stocker in and sold it dead stock for $14,500 and then sold all the running gear off.

OH CRAPOLA! Sorry about not replying, got caught up there. I don't have a pic on my comp but sms me your number and Ill take one when I get home. The bar was made by me when I used to work as an engineer. We ran them on over 20 different mates cars (never actually made them for a profit, just to help friends) and they have survived many a drift day. My friend even wiped his 32 off a barrier at CP one day and it bent all his rear arms but the lockbar was perfect Yep took the built motor out (sheesh who builds a motor and drives it for just over 1,000ks these days) and sold it stock. Now I got a white FD, you just cant argue with a 50/50 weight distribution -

LOL no offense taken, you shop at autobarn and therefore know little about cars. Hey do they still sell those spinning rims and neons there? Gotta get me some of that shit for the FD yo! But seriously was there any point to you posting here you oxygen thief? BAH! Go spam somewhere else newb I actually wanted to check the slide prices and price it accordingly using them however the site was down when I tried (Aaron actually got them for me when I was building my engine) so I thought I would put them at knowingly high price so I didn't end up losing too much on them as they are in practically brand new condition. Ill drop the price, only slightly though as like I said, new condition. SPLITFIRES NOW $450 delivered
