  4. it has to be the same which to start with means it would have to be 2.5". and no doubt since they have to comply to australian standards before it can be registered in aus and adjustable mufflers are illegal here....................
  5. No idle test, it has to be 90db or lower at 4800rpm, no other tests for noise are done.
  6. I've had it for five years now, lately tho 5 things have f**ked up one after the other, most minor but the most it has been running fine for in between each is 1 week, now I have to pull the box out again to check my new clutch
  7. I didn't miss your post titan, I will measure the ones that are in there and see if there the same size, put on hold for now tho as I think I f**ked my clutch on the weekend so I have to pull the box out and see what the problem is, atm I just wanna burn the f**ker!

  12. And if you have to do a db test they will probably tell you to change as its not allowed to be adjustable, does not matter what the engineer has signed off on.

In normal 3" form my exhaust did 92, with 2.5" pipe and muffler behind the diff it did 85, that tells me that there is ways to make it legal without needing to weld shit in and resort to using a factory exhaust, what was the phrase i saw you use the other day "smart modding" with the right bits i will get a legal exhaust that will flow the 250rwkw i have and the 300 i will get after a tune. The hard part is making it height legal and still look good, that will be my next task.
  14. already got one, centre and rear, no jap stuff either, i asked the guy what i could do to quieten it and he said he would use the same mufflers i already have on there.
  15. And what about the cams and cam gears? there only good for 300 rpm lower on a 26 compared to a stock 25?

Had to get a noise test done last week, was 92 but have to be 90 or under, to pass the guy made up a 2.5" rear section with some triple flow 2.5" muffler, as soon as i passed i put the old one back on coz the 2.5 looked and sounded poo. I was thinking about just using a hot dog just behind the cat, will this cut the db enough to make it legal, was told by a mate that an 18" one on his datsun dropped it 10db, hard to beleive since this red back 2.5 i had put on only dropped it 7 db, also will it be more of a benefit to put it in front/behind/in between the mufflers i already have? Im looking to cut out 4-5db (or more if i can) without losing power.
  17. If you going to run the same power then the fuel system you have will be fine, i dont think you will get much more out of it with a .8 rear on 98 pulp, if you went E85 you will need a bigger fuel fuel system but would probably get close to 400 if the .8 rear will flow enough.
  18. i have a 3540/3582r (gt tho not gtx) and on my 25 im making 20 psi at around 4300, factory cams and cam gears, with the gtr+cams+cam gears+gtx i would put yours at arounf 3500 maybe less.

    Did you write all those down while driving? You do know that your not meant to put plates up don't you, normally the first 3 letters of a standard plate is enough for people to realise its them.
  20. Interesting, neither of your cars have standard turbo's do they? Don't they do a visual inspection of turbos and knock you back straight away if there not factory?
  21. Does that hour include whatever is required to pass a full epa and full rwc? It now would take me just over an hour to pass noise and rwc but passing a full epa would not be so easy.

A while ago i read there was specific areas that are exempt from height rules, from what i read it was a meter either side of the axles, downloaded the mod guide from vic roads to check and there is nothing in there any more, it is a new one too, october 2011 is the date on it now. Last time i looked at it exhaust manifolds were free as long as all the original fittings were retro fitted, now you need to have documents from the manufacturer to say that the manifold you are using is suitable for that car/engine, im glad my chinese stainless manifold cracked and i went back to standard. seems things are getting worse
  24. for the record the db test for a 33 is @ 4800rpm and needs to be 90db or lower, mine was 92.
