  1. I don't get it, do people like wishing their turbo hangs together all the time? Is the thrill of knowing your turbo could let go at any time and possibly damage your engine that good? Maybe this sort of mentality explains a lot of blown engines/parts? I think i might be onto something here..
  2. DR1FTER, you really don't sound very mature. Somehow I have trouble believing you have 20 years of car ownership under your belt. Here's a few steps for buying a second hand enthusiast's car, which have served me well: PM/call/email with an expression of interest, not a ridiculously low offer. Go and look at the car thoroughly, and if you genuinely think the car is worth less than the owner is asking for, give your offer and explain why the lower price. If they refuse your offer, they may not be the right person to buy off. If you can't find anything to lower the price with, maybe the car is out of your price range. Look at another. Whining and insulting members will get you nowhere. Most people who enjoy their cars will take a sudden low PM offer as an insult, and why reply at all? It's not exactly a genuine expression of interest. Many of these guys would like to see their car go to someone who will treat it properly, and establishing a good image of yourself and a buyer/seller relationship is always a nice touch. Be nice and polite. Good luck buying a car anyway, i know i wouldn't sell you mine after reading this, even if you offered more than i thought it was worth.
  3. Yeah i agree. That was the reason i didn't stay (didn't want to drive around with the charades etc...haha). Ah so you were the soarer. Came and left pretty quickly. Oh and i have to admit me and a mate were quite surprised/excited seeing the chick get into the R33. hehe
  4. You know we were wondering about the stagea.. ahh would have been nice to have a chat with you guys but i assumed noone else was there. Oh well.
  5. Nah i wasn't into it tonight, went straight home afterwards. Don't know about the rest. Saw gtr_fan and had a chat, but don't know about anyone else from SAU. I wanted to have a look around some (RB25) engine bays though! Time to cough up that membership fee...
  6. Soft It was pretty good. Got free stuff and now have half a clue on what to use and how to use it No other skylines though...disappointed on that one.
  7. Hope 6:30 is early enough to get a spot at the place.. You should come anyway, there's a space free. Then i can perve on some other skylines properly
  8. Guess i'll just have to be one of the first there then Do you guys know what cross street this place is closest to on broadway?
  9. Millimetres mercury (mmHg) is a measurement of how far mercury moves in a manometer (basically a tube), used as a measurement of pressure differences in engineering. The gauge reads pressure difference between the intake and atmosphere in this case. The reference on your boost gauge reads x100 mmHg, so +7 = 700mmHg, or the pressure in the intake is just under 1 bar above atmospheric, so you're getting around '13.5psi boost' in simplified terms. 1 bar = 760mmHg. mad082, 1 atm = 101.325kPa = 1.01325 bar so your phys textbook sucks
  10. The comments about Motor mag sucking are a bit rich. If you don't like it don't buy it. I'm happy as ever and have been subscribing for almost 5 years now. They do make mistakes every once in a while but if you actually read the article (the sign of a car enthusiast?) you'll see, as someone already said, that the actual times are way slower. Though having a go at SAU members is worse.
  11. Strut braces are useful for leaning on while working on the engine . Most things on these cars are fairly simple to change, as long as you're not completely lost. I love saving on labour. It almost makes up for the amount of money i spend on fuel .
  12. The active LSD in GTS25ts is the rear diff from an R33 GTR V-Spec which is what they're talking about in the link.
  13. Your attitude pisses me off. A knowledge base builds up through different people knowing/discovering different things and sharing them. So how about you stop whining that noone knows anything and go find out yourself. The guys here can't be experts on everything, and you shouldn't have a go at them because they can't give you everything you want. Here's your answer.
  14. Mine's on 17" wheels. I reckon they're big enough. Click
  15. Don't think there's a cost. See you guys there .
  16. Mate you should check if 'Cre8tec' have any job openings.
  17. Does 'Cre8tec' sound like a company looking to sell you all its hard work, engineering and innovation that's gone into making an 'electronic supercharger'? Or a company looking to make a buck from a few suckers.
  18. I had this decision to make and went with the R33.. because it was newer and i preferred the interior and torque of the 2.5. You'll probably be looking at a series 1 for 13k.
  19. I think this is a bit shortsighted. You can't actually think that the only reason speed limits are imposed is to make money? Seriously? Would you be comfortable with everyone flying around at 120 past the local shops? The part you could call revenue raising is fining someone for going 63 at the bottom of a hill in a 60 zone. Also, you lose demerit points when you speed. So the rich can't really speed off into the sunset. BTW 'justify' on dictionary.com: "To demonstrate or prove to be just, right, or valid". iplen, it's true that speeding gets way more attention than most other things that kill more people, but it's relatively easy to enforce and needs to be enforced (within reason) to keep things in control..
  20. Nah..i'm in sydney but north-west.
  21. I think what me and one or two other guys were getting at is that you shouldn't be surprised or blame the system when you lose your licence for doubling the speed limit. I wouldn't be. No one's claiming they never speed.
  22. Yeah.. Gutted to have seen my first skyline off SAU after 3 weeks of driving.. hahaha
  23. I personally think a lot of this stuff is driver attitude. I'm not aiming this at you (unless this is the attitude you have), but in my opinion, if the people who speed excessively can't respect a law of the country even while knowing why it's in place, i'm not sure they should have their licence. It's laid out pretty clearly that if you go over the legal speed limit, you're doing something illegal, and there is obviously a reason why it's illegal. Some people may think this is unfair, but you have all sorts of people thinking all sorts of laws are unfair, not everyone can be happy, it's a fact. Accept it and if you do double the speed limit, don't be surprised when you lose your licence. Comparing with Germany is hard, since they obviously planned the whole situation out far more carefully than our own past governments. Proposing driver training is fine and i guess a logical solution, but if you impose driver training on everybody, you will have the people who can't afford it, and all of those who fail and lose their licence. For a government imposing this, they're going to have a whole bunch of people whinging that they can't afford this, and they then have to either subsidise these people or tell them they can't drive because they can't afford it. The people who fail the test will suddenly realise that they don't have an easy way to get to work and will complain to the government that there isn't enough public transport close to their home etc. And there will be lots of these. Then the people who pass will complain about paying for it but will be happy to drive 10km/h faster, which they did anyway. So the government has half its population pissed off at it. How long do you reckon it'll be before they get voted out and a party offering speed limits again gets voted in? Speed limits are the easiest way to account for everybody. /essay
