Heard about that too. Not very surprisingly its going to be called the "Big Kahuna" as with all their high usage plans. IMO their tech support is sh**. I've been on the phone with them for hours on end when I first was trying to connect it. Although I have been with them for a fair while now, still not the best, but pretty good value for money, especially when the new plan comes out.

I know in the initial post it was written that it's suitable for driver's aged 18-80. Just wanted to know if I could still take part as I'm 17 and still only on my L's. Would your insurance etc still cover it? or is a current full or probabtionary licence needed?

Mate how much do you have to spend? If its 500ish go for the alpine 9887 as RB_Ryan said. If you want to spend 150 I'd say go for the cheap spec Pioneer one JB has (DEH-1150MPG from memory). I paid 138 for the one they advertised with the 6" splits (ticket price was $194ish?). Loads the next track in next to no time, heaps of options, has a remote and AUX-in aswell. If you're going to get one for use with an iPhone, be aware of the new laws...search the forums if you don't know what I'm talking about, or check it on the Vicroads website.

Price drop to $2500. Anyone? Great cheap and reliable daily.

Hey guys just got my excel up for sale, Don't really use it much so no point in paying the rego + insurance. Details 11/97 Hyundai Excel 5 Speed manual 120 XXX kms Air con Pioneer CD/MP3 deck with front aux input (less than one month old). Just the entry level one ($140ish at JB) DEH-1150MPG Bad Points NO power steering The paint on the hub caps is fading (mostly silver but clear bit underneath is showing in some places. The paint on the whole car is a really bad. I'm pretty sure a whole lot of birds took a crap all over the car and by the time someone bothered to wash it, was too late. There used to be decals on the side's of the car across the front and rear guards and doors. I've removed most of it, there's just some left on the driver's side door which shouldn't be too hard to remove - I can do it for you if you like. The gas struts that hold up the boot don't work but I will get it fixed for the buyer if they would like, if not take $50 off my asking price. And when the air con is on there is a slight ticking noise coming from the dash, but it's not that bad - nothing major and doesn't affect the air con. It had a RWC done on the 19th of September - therefore expired but I will be providing a current RWC to the buyer after a deposit has been placed. Price - $2700 - slightly negotiable PICS - the one's without the plates are when I first got it - and the close up pics are to show the paint damage Contact number is - 0423 847 113 - name is Hakan.

What's with the parking one? So technically we are still exceeding the parking limit (time wise) if we just move the car to another parking space within the same car park for example? Looks like another way for local councils to raise revenue.

+1 Don't waste your money on cars yet, you'll have plenty of time later in life. You'll probably have just as much fun driving a na s13 or 180sx that's going to cost you a 1/4 of the price of the r34. And yes it looks cool and all that, but in a few years time when all your mate's are stuck with their first (semi-decent) cars, you'll be able to afford what you really want. My 2c.

Agreed. I don't think it's a show car but does look very clean/nicely modded. -

Hey champ more details on the excel? K's, year, color etc. Thanks mate. -
Aww that sucks man. Hope all involved at the time are ok. It's gotta suck having no car, just highlights the flaws in our public transport system more for you. Hope you get it back soon

So what about this? I'm in the same boat and use the ipod while in my car (only an aux input, so have to use phone's controls not head units). Ehh if worst comes to worse they can issue you with a fine, and then when it gets to court, you can just show your mobile bill and show them that at the time of the offence you were not using the phone? But then again they'll probably ping you and say that someone else could have called you, and that's why it didn't show up on the statement. EDIT: Just noticed it said it will be illegal for drivers to navigate using a device that can be used as a phone and a satellite navigation system How's the officer meant to know whether you were using the ipod or the gps? Just always keep it plugged in with an aux cable

Not sure if this is relevant, but I was at Vicroads the other day in order to get another car registered. The car in question happened to have its engine changed during its lifetime and the new engine number wasn't in the vicroads system (wasn't anything dodgy). I was told to get a statutory declaration from the police station saying I bought the car as is, and they changed it on their system accordingly. In your case, as it's a larger capacity engine, you'll most likely need an engineer's certificate (with the relevant mods needed) in order to get it changed. Would the new owner even be able to get a legit rwc with a larger capacity engine without an engineer's certificate?

Had a look at some camera's today at JB and ted's. The size difference between the 50d and 500d is a fair bit from what I could see. Not the lens, but the body of the camera, so they kind of turned me off the 50d a bit. By the looks of it, the 500d is the one to go for now, but i've still got about a month until her birthday so will keep shopping. A bit closer to my budget too, which is always a plus

Alright well narrowed it down a bit more, so now it's either the Canon 50D or the 7D when it comes out. They're in a slightly different price point (both above what I was looking at but prefer paying more than getting something that will get outdated soon). So yeah looks like 50D with standard 18-55mm lens for $1595 is the go at the moment. I'm guessing around $2300ish for the 7D as ted's have it listed for 2995 on their site. And thanks for the link to the site Zennon, looks like some fairly decent prices, and thanks to all that contributed, gone from knowing nothing to knowing a bit more than nothing. So any reviews on the 50D (or 7D based on specs)? What are your guys opinions on these models?
-
At the moment i'm tossing up between either Nikon D90 Canon EOS 500D Canon EOS 50D Specs wise i'm not too sure which is the better buy, and for the moment they will probably all be with an entry level 18-55mm lens if that helps? I'm also liking the look (and specs - well at least the bits I understand) of the Canon EOS 7D. Is it worth the wait and extra cash?
-
Yeah that sounds pretty straight forward. I'm guessing pretty much i've just got to bolt/screw the motors to the door frame (all lined up correctly), attach it to the lock mechanism, and then wire it up to the main control box thing. Sound about right? Thanks for the tips champ, will keep it in mind That's the one.

Yeah digital slr is the one we're after. And nah she doesn't know how to use the standard settings, but i'm sure she would be able to pick it up easily (after reading the sticky's here)

Hey guys as the topic states i'm looking for a new camera (for the girlfriend) and just wanted opinions on what is good to buy. Budget is roughly $1000. She just wants something to start taking some more "professional" shots, but I don't want to buy something that she will outgrow (features wise). Am I better off spending more to buy something with more features? I've had a read of the camera reviews sticky but seems to be a bit outdated. Thanks for any advice, Hakan.

Fs/swap Mazda Rx7 2000 [fd3s]
nice 28 replied to skyline.33's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
That is one great looking fd! -
I just had a look on the CAM website and they have a kit similar to the ebay one for $99 so looks like that's the one i'll be going for. I'll probably go out to their Malvern retailer next week and pick it up, and try to install it myself, if I can't do it though i'll be sure to give you a pm! Any pointers on installation? Thanks champ.

Hey guys just looking for a central locking and keyless entry kit to install into a 98 hyundai excel 2 door. Doesn't have to be anything flash as long as it's reliable. I was looking at either an ebay kit http://cgi.ebay.com.au/REMOTE-CENTRAL-LOCK...#ht_2390wt_1165 Or a kit from jb hifi http://www.jbhifi.com.au/car-sound-gps-nav...entral-locking/ (the $28 central locking kit and $79 remote keyless entry kit) Which one would be the go? For $100 either way i'm not too fussed, as long as it works as it should. If both these kits are a load of crap, any recommendations? (bearing in mind that I'm not willing to waste more than $200 on this stuff) Thanks for any advice, Hakan.
