  1. But the NOS kit itself isn't illegal is it? Your just not allowed to have a bottle hooked up unless your at a track or somewhere like that. I think that's how it is in WA anyway. RoD
  2. So is everyone here saying you can't just remove the RB25DE and drop in an RB25DET from an R33 GTS-t? RoD
  3. For an R33, I think it's around 15sec, with <14sec possible with only a few basic mods (exhaust, cold air intake, filter, more boost). The GTR is about 2 seconds faster. RoD
  4. You said your almost 20 - Just wait 'till you're off you P's. You can't have long left... RoD
  5. Damn people, those are awesome. Honestly - every one of you should be proud. Number 10 was awesome. Number 20 was also awesome, except the car was driving down the wrond side of the road. It seems such a waste to pick just one. You guys sure there's no way to use at least a few of them?... RoD EDIT: I just noticed that on #2 the GTR badge was replaced with an "SAU" badge. Awesome touch.
  6. I checked up on this when I was looking at insurance. Just Cars base thier premiums on the youngest/inexperienced driver. So if it's in your Dad's name, it's not covered if you're driving. So if you crash and write it off, you have to lie in the police report and say your Dad was driving or they wont pay. RoD
  7. No way I'm gonna gamble with 3rd party - it's taken me almost 3 years to save enough for a skyline. As for insurance quotes, Ive tried "Famous" and "Just Car", and Famous gave me a better quote (but with a $3000 excess!). I'm gonna also try "Torque" and "Unique Car Insurance" - they've both been reccomended to me. I'll let you all know how I go. Also, if you're over 21, you could try "Shannons" and "HBF" - RoD
  8. Yeah, I've looked there. But finding a non-tubo seems to be the tuff part. RoD
  9. Did any of you see the front cover of the west asutralia paper a few weeks back. They spend 6 hours arresting a guy who was holding up a sign warning of a speed camera ahead. The cops say they are just trying to slow people down, but that guy they arrested was slowing people down much better and got arrested. In the end they charged him with something like disrupting the flow of traffic. Pathetic. Also, I heard on the radio a couple of days ago that they want to get another 4 multanova's for perth (perth already has 12 out of 14 in the state), even though over 50% of the deaths this year have been on country roads. RoD
  10. I borrowed my parents excel for a couple of years when i first got my liscense, but they never bought me a car of my own. And by borrowed, I mean i paid for all the expenses (except insurance), but they still owned it. RoD
  11. OK, now I just need to find one. ebay, carsales, drive, carsguide - anyone know of any other places i should look?
  12. Hey thanks for the responses guys. As long as a GTS can beat a commo/folcon off the mark, I'll be happy. I'd love a turbo, if I can find good insurance. I've only called a couple of places, but I might try a few more (although I'm only 20, so I can't really expect too much). Also, br3tt, thanks for the advice, but I'd be sorta nervous buying a car on e-bay. Has anyone here done it? Anywayz, that 4 the replies. RoD BtW: I live in Perth.
  13. Thanks for the reply. I got quotes on insurance, and I can insure a GTS for $1406, but a GTS-t is $2231. That sorta make the turbo too expensive. Where are you getting insurance from? Anyway, if you ignore the turbo, do you reckon 15k get me a manual series 2 in good condition? RoD
  14. Hey all, I'm looking at getting an R33 GTS, since I can't really afford the insurance or maintainence on a turbo model. Anyway, I just wanted to know what sort of performance I could expect from a GTS, compared to something like a commodore or falcon. Also, I've got about $15k. Would I be able to get a manual R33 GTS series 2 within this price? I'd rather get it with a warranty from a dealer, but if I have to I'll get it through a private sale. RoD
  15. I'm 19, and Just Car quoted me $1516 with $1800 excess for a R33 GTS (non-turbo) with an agreed value of $12,500. Although, the postcode i live in probably contributed. Have you tried Famous? They're based in subiaco. RoD
  16. Thanks for the info. If i decide to get this one, I'll make sure I ask about how he lowered it. It's getting an RAC inspection anyway - would that help at all? I got insurance quotes from Just Car, and there was almost $1000 difference (between GTS4 and GTS-T). But I called famous insurance on friday and I'm waiting for them to get back to me. Thanks for the help. RoD
  17. I'm currently planning on purchasing an R33 GTS-4 (RB25DE, AWD). I know it's not a turbo, but I can't afford the insurance on a turbo model. Anyway, I've only seen photo's of the car, but it looks like it's been lowered quite a way. I live outside Perth, and the road around my place aren't all that good. I don't want to be grinding the bottom of the car everytime I go through a pothole or over a train line. I'm wondering what would be involved in raising the car back up to the stock height, and how much this would cost... I know this is probably an unusual question, but any help would be great. RoD BtW: I'm not planning on raising it up unless it feels too low after I've driven it...
  18. Thanks for all the advice so far. I got a couple more questions here. How fuel efficient would the RB25DE be? I figure that since it's not turbo, it shouldn't be a massive fuel hog (not as bad as the RB25DET anyway). Also, am I right in thinking that it needs/prefers to be run on Premium petrol, or is that only for Turbo models? RoD
  19. Originally I was looking at an R33 GTS-t, but I'm 19 and only have a part-time job (I have uni 4 days a week). A non-turbo costs half as much to insure as a turbo, plus I figure it should be lower maintainence, since there'll be less strain on the car. One thing I really want to know is if it will still be in decent condition after 130,000kms? I've read that unmodified skylines (R32/R33/R34) are pretty reliable, but I can't find much info about the GTS4. I plan to get a full inspection done by the RAC anyway, but I would like some of your opinions, especially if anyone here has had a GTS4. Thanks again RoD
  20. Hey all, I'm looking for a new car, and I love skyline's. I've been looking around, and I've found a 1994 R33 GTS4 5-speed-manual for sale for $12,990. As far as I can tell, the GTS4 is a non-turbo 2.5L (RB25DE) All Wheel Drive. This exact car is a 2door Coupe, with 130,000 on the clock, plus a few mods (exhaust, pod from a 300zx, gtr front grill, stereo etc...). I just want to ask if this sounds like a good deal. It seems like it is to me, but it is a non-turbo with 130,000kms. Thanks all, RoD
