Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Basically the main reason I was thinking of mounting it where the SMIC is because I'm guessing there is alot more airflow getting there then what you get under your bonnet. I guess the idea could work but would have to spend abit of time messing with some form of box design to allow air flow in from front and extra airflow to flow out the back. Also maybe some form of drain vents on the bottom of the box to allow for water drainage and such. I still have the SMIC but looking at getting a front mount soon then installing the Air Con back into my R32 (the previous owner ripped the A/C out) so I guess I will tackle it then. I was thinking about using an Apexi power intake pod but I guess I will just have to spend a few hours at the drawing board (photoshop) to design a box that will be goood for the job. GTST: I was building the box to keep most of the crap out, I have mesh on the front bar that will keep some larger stuff out from the front and the box should protect it from the back, bottom and sides.

basically I would box behind the pod but leave the front open to allow the air flow from the front bar.

Alright guys I apoligise if this is a stupid idea as I don't know much (if anything) to do with tunning of a car. My skyline is helping me learn but I was just wondering if you have a FMIC what sort of problems would you have trying to run the Pod filter where the standard SMIC is? I understand you would have to box it in but the original brackets from the SMIC should be good enough to bolt a box to which should keep out the dirt and stuff from the wheel. The main reason I was wondering was because if you boxed in your pod where the SMIC is you would then be getting alot of the air coming through your front bar with not alot blocking the air flow. The only problems I can think of is maybe the longer piping could play havic with the AFM but if you leave it in the normal location hopefully it will be fine. The only other major problem that I can think of is water coming through the front bar and into the pod. I can't think of any material that will absorb water but not expand causing good airflow even when wet. So is there any reason I don't see people run their pod filters in the SMIC location, You already have holes cut from the SMIC to run your pipe (as long as your front mount piping doesn't cause issues) and I am guessing you would get colder and higher airflows in that location then under your bonnet. If it is a stupid idea I apoligise as I said I am only just learning and would prefer feedback on idea's before I even considering designing them.

Actually just double checking is it being connected via a router or straight from the optus modem? There is 3 ways that come to mind to get an internet signal via an ethernet cable to the PS3 let me know which one you have. 1. Cable modem (in your case optus modem) plugged directly into the ps3 via ethernet cable (No network access just internet) 2. Cable modem being plugged into your PC (via usb or ethernet) then lined out via ethernet to the PS3 or a switch (PC needs to be on for internet) 3.Cable modem lined into a router via ethernet cable then cables from the router goto the PC and PS3 (Internet and Network Access. Prefered Method) [edit] Always willing to help out a PS3 or skyline owner.

I run my PS3 via a wired connection as well but I never let it automatically assign the IP and stuff. I would recommand in your network settings on the PS3 assign it an IP address and enter the information manually. Although I run Bigpond internet here so my connection was alot more of a pain in the arse to setup because I had to change the IP address of my router so it wouldn't conflict with the IP address that the bigpond router was trying to assign. Also put your PS3 in the DMZ zone of your router so you don't have port issues with playing games as well. On your PC if you goto "Start" then "Run" type in "cmd" and that should bring up your command prompt. In the command prompt type in "ipconfig /all" and that will bring up settings for the PC which should have all the info you need for the PS3. On the PS3 assign it an IP that isn't being used by your PC or any other PC in the house. To get the subnet mask etc etc it should be listed when you typed in "ipconfig /all" on your PC so just copy that data onto your PS3 and see how it goes. If you have any trouble let me know. By assigning the PS3 its own IP address that way you can enter that IP address in your router in the DMZ and not worry about the router assign the PS3 a different IP.

Michael the reason you weren't getting audio from your HDMI running into your surround sound is because it looks like you have the same system as I do. I didn't learn this till a few weeks ago but the HDMI switches on our recievers are just that "switches" they pass the signal from one place to another so the reciever isn't decoding the audio via HDMI because it is just passing the signal to the TV. The PS3 does output audio through HDMI but due to our recievers only having a HDMI switch and no not a HDMI reciever we don't get the audio signal hence having the run the Optical cable from the PS3. If that didn't make sense let me know and I will explain it abit more clearer for you.

I finished it after about 4-5 days doing all the bonus stuff except flags. I did manage to get all the assassins flags though. the last couple of missions are kind of tough though.

Spotted a white R33 that could do with a clean. Numberplate was *** JTR and it had a Top Secrete sticker on the back over the boot lock and a Nismo sticker on the boot in the right hand corner. Dude slow down doing over 80km/h in a 60km/h doesn't make you cool.

If I didn't have a girlfriend the Wii and Gamecube wouldn't be in the house. The Gamecube was a christmas for her a couple of years back because she wanted one and the Wii was a random gift because she wanted one of those. Its not a g/f I need its more money. Just so you know the only consoles still hooked up at are the PS3, Wii and PS2 on the projector in the downstairs lounge room and the Snes, Gamecube and PSone is hooked up in the upstairs loungeroom. I have 3 nephews and 2 nieces that visit weekly with another 2 nephews on the way so it helps keep them entertained while they are here.

I would have come over but I wasn't in my Skyline and driving a crappy work Telsta. Had to go pick up some cheap and nasty shocks to get me through the next month or so till I can save up for a decent suspension setup. I hope today has been a better day for you

at the moment it would almost just as expensive to burn a PS3 game then it is to buy one. I don't like Australian prices of games but order from Play-Asia and you will save a fair few dollars.

Spotted 53XYN down autobarn today, Very nice car. If you spotted some guy checking it out don't worry I wasn't going to steal it. Also there was a white 4 door R34 getting something done to it in the install bays at autobarn as well.

Well the 13 week old puppy got a hold of my DS3 but it still works just a little beat up from the encounter. The feedback from it really isn't that great but hey its better then nothing. It will work on the Uncharted demo, GT Prologue (demo and full), RFOM, Ratchet And Clank but thats about all that comes to mind at the moment.

was going to buy it but with christmas, my shocks in the R32 dying, Insurance and Rego all coming up I think I will wait for the Euro release which should be sometime after christmas.

Suspension Plus Coilover Advice (r32 Gts-t)
Triptych replied to Triptych's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah I rang autobarn today for a price on some cheapies to get me around for the next month or two and the KYB's were $120each for the rear and $150 each for the fronts. Might see if repco stock them so I can make my brother buy them at trade price. -
My first PS2 lived a strong life until one day I dropped ot from a decent height by accident. I then had to get a slim line I did forget the mention the DS and PSP is in my house as well As for 60gb vs 40gb PS3 well that really depends on if you want Backwards Compatablity. To be honest I don't use it much and its not like the PS3 all PS2 games so you are better of getting a PS2 if you want BC. The smaller hard drive may be a pain (I plan on upgrading my 60gb HD soon). The 40gb isn't a good choice if you plan to play PS2 and don't have a PS2 console neither is the 60gb really. I prefer the PS3 over the 360 but as I mentioned earlier go for whatever console you feel happier playing or seeing as though its a gift if your spending this amount of money on that person you should have a fair idea on what console they would prefer.

What Would A Jeremy Clarkson Review Of My Car Be Like?
Triptych replied to pontiff's topic in General Automotive Discussion
haha thanks for info, I do have most the top gear eps on my computer so it is sorta hard to find out what episode it is from. Considering I have episodes from 1989 - 1991 then all the seasons that started in 2000 or whenever. -
Suspension Plus Coilover Advice (r32 Gts-t)
Triptych replied to Triptych's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
once again thank you for your advice I will have a few questions for you in regards to the pack but I will wait till I raise the money. I am not driving the car since this issue has come up not only because I feel unsafe everytime I hit a bump but it may end up being a danger to other drivers. I believe in better safe then sorry I will PM you with a few of my questions about your kit shortly. I already have had my front suspension bushes replaces and it is being a trial car for a new bush from All About Steering and Suspension up here in QLD. I must admit the couple of weeks I had with the car with the new bushes in it was great with handling but now that it seems the shocks have gone lets just say feels like I should hydrolics rigged up -
As long as they are a skyline thats all that counts

Suspension Plus Coilover Advice (r32 Gts-t)
Triptych replied to Triptych's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
There is no sound with it, Basically you hit a bump (even the slightest one) and car keeps bouncing, I dunno if this is the right way to explain it but almost feels like body roll with it bouncing all over the place. If you bounce the car while parked (handbrake off and no brakes on) from say the left hand rear it will bounce left and right a few times. Where as bouncing on just the front it seems to just bounce straight back into place evenly. I hoped that helped out a little. Also thank you for your advice. Ahh sorry didn't reliese it was you posting sydneykid. You run that group by right? Could you pm me a price for a R32 kit. I shouldn't need all the extra stuff you do just a basic kit that you would recommand. -
