How about this:
Some people like R31's, so they buy one.
Some people like R30's, so they buy one.
Some people like the other models, so they buy one.
Some people are restricted by what money they can spend, so they get what they can.
Some people post on a forum asking for advice, and telling them that what they have (or are about to have in this case) is a heap of shit is not really helping them, is it?
Actually, you are missing the point - of this thread.
pipster11 is asking what fluids to service his car with. Not what car he should buy.
But then again seeing as you're apparently an expert on everything and you opinion evidently is the only one that matters then why don't you just stick to helping the guy with servicing his car?
If all 31's are trash then by because of age the 30's should be not much different, regardless of which one is better, right?
Of the handful of R30s I've driven (stock and modified) I really couldn't say they differ that much in the big picture compared to a 31. Looks come down to a person's personal prefererce.
If I was to get up on my high horse like you then I think you should ditch your old heap of an R30 and go get a brand spankers V36 shipped out of the "real" factory in Japan so you can have a proper car.
pipster11 -
20/50 engine oil would be fine most of the time. I always used GTX-2 with an RB30E personally. I guess if would depend on how worn the engine is.
I think 80W-90 is the factory recommended diff oil.
