Tyre Advice Please
Mr R32 GTS-T replied to Mr R32 GTS-T's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks mate exactly what i wanted to hear, thought i could go more on the sidewall. i will probably go with the 255, give it a bit more rubber. -
Guys i have stock 33gtr wheels on a stock r33 gtr and was wondering what tyre size i should upgrade to. i was thinking 255 55 17 instead of the 245 45 17. i would get 255 40 17 as tempe tyres has them for $160.00 a corner, but it drops the car 8.5mm lower and the spoiler hits everything as it is already. Will a profile of 55 be too big and rub inside when turning the front wheels? I need to raise the car a little bit as the spoiler hits everything and i want to fill the void (between the tyre and rest of the car). Any help would be much appreciated.

Just to keep you all updated.... Its like an email asking for a quote with some detailed isnt something most mechanics are used. I have emailed most of the shops talked about on this thread, disappointingly two of which i am a prior customer spending big bucks.......... Others i have emailed, and im yet to receive a response. Out of five high end workshops in Western Sydney i have received 2 replies. Anyway, if i get more detail will again post what i find out. I think we need a SAU workshop that supplies parts, fitting and repairs etc in the one location in Western Sydney lol.

Eric i died when i watched your video.....................patience is with you my friend. Not to confuse anyone, the 6 hours i was qutoed was just for the 100kms service only.....doesnt include doing the thrust bearing..... I'm going to confirm this and will report back. I just thought with so many mechanics and so many experienced members on SAU surely we can work out for those who arent as mechancially minded or are time poor (as for myself) what is a rough guide for major servicing and the big ticket items, eg: remove and refit engine, remove and refit gearbox etc........ Thanks to all those who replied so far... Chris.

Dear All, How long (in hours) is expected to change/perform the following... i've been doing some research and just want to know if the mechanics are quoting way too long to do things. I find in this day and age everyone is out there to steal a buck, and I dont feel like getting robbed. Im after how long in labour and how much is the general charge per hour. I've been quoted so far 6 hours at $115.00 per hour?? 1 x Genuine Nissan, Water Pump 1 x Genuine Nissan, Timing Belt 1 x Genuine Nissan Cam & Front Crank Seal Set 1 x Genuine Nissan Tensioner Bearing Spring 1 x NSK Timing Belt Idler Bearing (Nissan OEM) 1 x NSK Timing Belt Tensioner Bearing (Nissan OEM) ($415.00 all of the above) 1 x Clutch Release / Throw-Out Bearing - Genuine Nissan - Skyline R32 GTR (02/1993 - On), R33 GTR & R34 GTR / 25GT-t – Nissan Part No - 30502-12U00 ($65.00) Is there any other parts I should be sourcing for this service whilst its getting done. Should I also look at replacing the ancillary belts as well. Genuine Nissan Ancillary Drive Belt Set (Water Pump/Alternator, Power Steering & Air-Conditioning) $130.00. All prices quoted from Kudos for the parts. Regards

Guess The Sound! Somebody Please.....
Mr R32 GTS-T replied to Mr R32 GTS-T's topic in General Maintenance
Thanks boys, next question... Should this have been replaced when the clutch was done? and if not, how much am i looking at to fix what i estimate to be a less than $50.00 bearing? im mechancially minded but not to the extent of ripping motors and gearboxes out lol simpleton at best. Chris -
Dear All, I have this annoying sound that comes and goes whenever it feels like. More when its colder i find. I believe it has something to do with the clutch but I just dont know. I had clutch replaced 8,000kms ago with a cushion button from UAS, handles great a bit of a pain at the start but im used to it. This sound occurs when the car is neutral, with clutch peddle out. it also occurs with clutch peddle in however i do notice a slight difference when in. It goes away once in gear and the car is moving. Either a bearing is gone, but i thought this would be replaced when the clutch was.... and if so how can it go after 8,000kms or its something else and before i go back to the mechanic i thought i'd ask around. Any help would be much appreciated as i feel like spraying a whole can of WD40 till i find it lol!!! The car is an R33 GTR non-vspec, and i recorded the sound as i was warming up car so it may sound a bit revier than the norm.. sorry guys had to link it as it went over 2MB.. Chris.

You can buy Mobil Oil cheap from LubesDirect based in Penrith, i buy in 20ltr drums, its better and you have to do it less often. I have just purchased 20ltr of 5w/50 (as advised by my tuner) for $267.00. Not bad I'd say for a synthetic.
-
Thanks man for the heads up re Mobil 1 0w-40, i was leaning that way and at $59.50 (when u purchase the 20l drum) its a bargain that i cant surpass. PS. I love the table, but like mine i only understand half of what that stuff means. Thats why i started the thread, hopefully someone will come along and say hey this means that and this is why this is better lol. im looking for the easy way out, but yeah reading through 124 pages does your head in. WRX's i dont mind the sound of an EJ, definitely best four cylinder sound you can get. But an RB with a screamer pipe.........thats something else!!!!!!
-
Thanks man, but i after all i was reading so much about what people had experienced, i was going to go with the Mobil 0w-40 but then someone said it burns too quick, then i thought i go something else, but then someone said this, catch my drift. i thought providing some data can shrink a massive thread and get us to a medium somewhere as to which oil the population prefers to having running in their RB's and is more consistent. Hey at least i got one reply ta.
-
OK boys, i know this is a long running 124 page thread and decided to start a new thread hopefully with more data and facts instead of personal opinions of whats works and what doesn't. Hopefully if we all work together we can work out what roughly is a good oil for our (babies) depending on application. We know the obvious, my car his car different, therefore we need to treat them differently. So i have gone to the trouble of going through some of the technical data sheets of the oils i was interested in (please note this) and if you are able to get me others i will add them to the table so we can compare the specs. The main point of this thread, is to find a cost effective oil that shows the best value of money. I know some of us can afford to have the best gear, fair enough, but for the lay man, i hope this thread helps. Please note, lets try to keep this thread under 100 pages lol. Anyone with mechanical, technical or otherwise expertise in this area please feel free to comment and explain to the rest of us how relevant the data compiled in this table is, as like the rest of us I'm using a oil in my 33gtr (Nulon) and it feels ok but at $60.00+ a change i think i can get better but i just dont know what to get. Any advice would be appreciated. I ve saved the table as a word.doc so if anyone whats it to add to it go nuts. Oil data sheet.doc

93 Nissan Skyline R32 Gts-T Manual
Mr R32 GTS-T posted a topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Dear All, Unfortunately the time has come to part with my second wife "the quiet one". My beloved Skyline. As from the above she is a 93 model R32 GTS-T Non Smokers Car (people usually dust their feet before getting in thats how delicate i am with it). I have owned the car for five years since its arrival to our shores. This is not your everyday run of the mill R32. It has been meticulously looked after by me with only the finest oils and parts used for servicing. It is serviced every 5000kms with Mobile Delvac and Royal Purple Oils. The car has driven roughly 10000kms a year since i first owned her. The car has and is serviced by Bel Garage at Sefton NSW and is known for its well kept condition. The car also has some of the following goodies to make the drive more sporty and alive. VG30 Turbo (off a single turbo 300zx) Stainless Steel Full Turbo Back Exhaust Stainless Steel Split Down Pipe and Hi Flow Cat Sard Fuel Pressure Regulator Walbro 500hp Fuel Pump and new fuel lines Greedy Turbo Timer Uniair Air Filter and enclosure (defect safe) R34 Side Mount Intercooler (50% larger than standard) Alloy Mag Wheels with performance tyres 90% tread left, brakes are holding strong as well. CD Player The car has made and is making 150rwk and can make more with a front mount inter-cooler, boost controller and ecu tune. These are the next steps i would have taken and like to see taken, unfortunately cash is a bit tight at the moment and this is the only thing i have left. The car itself inside and out is in excellent condition and the inside interior as can be seen from the photos will have no better rival. It also has a working drop down spoiler. This is a very rare and unique part from oem factory that many do not have and it still works. This car is 17 years old and yes it is second hand so there is a blemish here and there on the paint for the perfectionist but for everyday people it is in better condition than most. The only flaw with the outside is the front left bar which will need a slight spray. This cracking in the paint was a lesson learnt in not to polish your car then take it immediately in the sun which in turn cooked the bar, plastic expands and it did here that's the only bad part. Quote to fix it $100.00 - $200.00. Please dont ask if i will sell the parts separate as i need the whole thing gone. I would like to see this go to a good home not somewhere where its going to be thrashed and mistreated. i know its just a car but i have put time into keeping this baby alive and looking very neat i do not want it destroyed. I reserve the right to remove this listing as this vehicle is advertised elsewhere. Car will be released to the purchaser when cheque clears. Pics taken on 5 December 2010, it rained as usual after. Please contact 0413 125 522 for inspection arrangements. Any time after 6.30pm is preferable, or the weekends. Thank you for reading. -
Dear Toshi, I live in Sydney and was wondering do you tunes on the spot. I have an R32 GTS-T with turbo back exhaust, r34 smic, airfilter, walboro fuel pump, sard fuel pressure regulator and a vg30 turbo (off single turbo 300zx). Making dismissal power at the moment, needing tune drastically. Please let me know quote for bring you the car (if option is available) tune etc. Chris.

Thanks guys for the above, any more recommendations keep them coming. Do you know where i can get Nistune? is this the remap of my standard ecu, and the boost controller is definitely noted, im looking a turbosmart streetboost or a profec bspec 2 to match my turbo timer (black lol) keep interior clean. Any need for a front mount? and any recommendations, Please note i have a working original drop down spoiler in the front, it appears too sexy to take off, i know it weighs a bit and there is the motors in the way for front mount, but do you think a boost controller and nistune would get me some decent power and better fuel consumption. Thanks in advance. Chris

Dear All, I have a RB20 (110,000 kms) with the following mods: Turboback exhaust split down pipe - Justjap Fuel pressure regulator - Sard (new fuel lines) Fuel pump - 040 of whatever it is VG30 turbo (off the single turbo 300zx) Side Mount intercooler (off R34 Gts-t) Unifilter Airfilter enclosed in box All work done by Bel Garage good old Brian no complaints. Question 1. I am only getting 150 rwk is this normal. Question 2. Can only with BP Ultimate get 350 370max a tank of fuel. Question 3. Will a remap help me or will i just be wasting my time, and who does them here in western sydney? Any thoughts, comments good or bad will be appreciated. Dont flame me if i put this in the wrong section. Chris.

Arc Intercooler For R32 Gtst
Mr R32 GTS-T replied to Beer Baron's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
will this make any benefit to my stock as a rock rb20det (apart from pod filter) as i am in a huge dilema to either get a front mount and up the boost or go for something as ur offering. so much debates on these forums re intercoolers re brands power gains yes or no etc im going nuts. waht mods did u have on ur rb20det if u wouldnt mind making 200 rwkw cause i want that figure no more prob a bit less. and if this intercooler can handle 200rwkw then im interested. thanks -
