Why Aren't We All Swapping To Superchargers?
VB- replied to No Crust Racing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
hey trent has lukes car got the new motor in it yet? or is he still on the dunger motor? -
good idea but the basic kit is $400US... thats more than the material to make a manifold (or a few, depending on who you know). be ok if your using it alot to do it for a living... but if you were at that point you'd be pretty good at making manifolds already lol

Why Aren't We All Swapping To Superchargers?
VB- replied to No Crust Racing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
this is like the 2nd time i've seen someone on here who actually made note of the difference, good work now i'm really starting to like you its more commonly reffered to as 'pumping losses' and turbos still have the same issue, those its less noticeable then with a supercharger not necesarily. superchargers have one big advantage of being able to run large diamter extractors to an open exhaust , as opposed to a turbo manifold+turbo combo, extractors and open pipes get more heat out of the cylender easier (thats the theory anyway lol) -
on a grand scale they arent that bad.... havent worked on an aritso with hydro fan, but many soarers which are all the same basic layout up top
-
what sort of power are you chasing? a basic log style manifold made from steam pipe will go alot further than most people think (my opinion anyway)

^ whats this solenoid? im gonan call bs on 30% better fuel economy go soarercentral for an ECU

why not just find someone who can bring in a jzs161?

seriously have you guys been living under a rock or what? i like this new idea about a 'cruise for charity'

Mr. Eps, you want to spend a large a mount of money to build yourself a late model aristo out of a parts from 2 different ones....???
-
^he said in the video it was a bad run, he does another further on. if i was a betting man, i'd say he did the run downhill
-
sorry O/T, arent you in the states to get hitched Trent? good effort getting on here to support the community lol

hahaha i feel like the lead actor in one of those alien films "my god, they're eevveerryywwheeerreee" +1 on short fuses.... c*nt! -
ok this is going to sound like im trying to be a dick, but dont take it the wrong way: there is nothing wrong with your car, you simply tried to drive beyond what it/you can do. i've driven plenty of shit cars, with bald tyres (and i mean through to the canvas) in the wet for weeks/months on end, and not had an issue (rear tyres only tho, i like being able to stop at will) my opinion on driving: only seen it mentioned once so far (by birds), the BIGGEST thing to remember, in any situation, look where you want the car to go, not where your afraid of going. wherever you will look, you will naturally make the car go. *now to make myself sound like a real arrogant c*nt*: all this argument over braking/powering out of a slide is bullshit, i've been in countless situations where doing one or the other specifically was necesary. look where you want to go and you will do the rest by feel naturally *does not apply to everyone but is a good general rule*

without seeing it in writing that sounds about right, not 100% sure on the law myself though if they are external to the car, make sure they arent causing big protrusions you can get canaried for. i think one of the other things was audio, theres something about survailance cameras and not recording audio to make them legit or something like that

Torque - Discussion, Physics, Displacement And Ideas
VB- replied to paulr33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
fuel you can measrue, and comparing it to output is called BSFC, brake specific fuel consumption. its shithouse for comparing cars because all the numbers are very similar measuring air and comparing against output i have never seen, dont know what you could use to accurately measure such a large volume of air. you could calculate it providing you had an accurate VE number? zebra, download a trial version of engine analyzer. i think you can find cracks for em too -
this and this. need to reference A:F ratio against boost, not RPM for the info to be relevant. just as a little fun fact, nissan (i think, may have been someone else) ran for 24 hours at le mans with a full load A:F ratio of 14.7:1. theres a miss conception around that being lean will kill your motor, it wont. it will increase EGT's and will have less of a cooling effect in the cylender causing it to knock and go bang, you can run it lean under load providing timing is set to match if i was you, i'd run straight e85, and have a crack at tuning it yourself on the dyno. with the power your making you shouldnt make it knock, even if you give it a bit too much timing, power should fall away first *dont take this as gospel, consult with a real tuner first lol*

providing no pay slips dont were thrown into the argument, i would agree with you entirely -
Torque - Discussion, Physics, Displacement And Ideas
VB- replied to paulr33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i like the idea of the thread, but as others have mentioned, i think other things effect torque alot more than cc per cylender so eliminating driveline and head differences (where most of the difference is IMHO), lets take two motors, of the same capacity. one is short stroke/big bore, one is long stroke, small bore. one should make more top end power, one more low end torque. i think most will agree on this. i am curious to know though, for the purpose of this discusion, take two motors, same head design etc, only difference being bottom end, one is a 2L 4 banger, one is a 2L inline 6, both are square motors (Bore:stroke ratio), what will the difference in torque curves be? -
Only 5psi, And Hosed Direct To Actuator
VB- replied to ClutchBurndout-:('s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
if i had to guess, i'd say boost for the gate is being sourced from the turbo outlet not allowing for boost drop along the inlet tract, and the guage is reading from the plenum?? -
seriously getting over this myself. wouldnt mind some back issues of street commodores or something instead. i rarely buy street comms but it does actually have very good content and is a well layed out mag

VN's are awesome, one of the best as strange as it may sound. they can be had for nothing (literally, i got a clean one for free) good strong diff suitable for welding, again free (welded it up myself) and they will cop a hiding all day without a drama. too many people get caught up chasing a number when buying/modifying their car, and they forget its all about having fun. VN with welded diff is one of the most fun things i have ever come across, automotive or other

been done as has this (many times) and this (turbo anyway, not s/c)

thats the 60' right?

mate, if you go through with the conversion, let it be for only one reason: to piss off all the one eyed skyline nut swingers *pleasedontbanmekthnxbye*

^ yeah it will be in the cold start tune. o2 feedback is only used when at running temp
