  1. for anyone interested in seeing what "everyday Japan" is like, especially Tokyo then I highly recommend having a look at hunkabutta. It's a weblog of a guy that lives in Tokyo - and has hundreds superb photos that really give you an idea of what it's like. But, for those who can't be bothered to follow the link or wade through 2 years of blog entries, here's some of my poor efforts... Tokyo Skyline: Sashimi Tokyo Street Traditional fans Japanese chef prepares food as customers watch Traditional Japanese wedding Sunset in Hakone when it snows in Yamanashi
  2. I'm up for a few games of pool - I used to be quite good, and had a habbit of cleaning up the table, sinking several balls in a row (which BTW earned me the nickname: Demon Dave ) but in retrospect it was probably more luck than anything else. I haven't played in years though...never even seen a table in Japan!
  3. I retract my previous statement. I do recall being called an "eigo jin", by one of my students. Though the fact he's 5 years old might have something to do with it...
  4. That's the first time I've ever heard of eigo jin igirisu jin is what I'm normally referred to

    Jobs in Japan

How about this as an alternative to teaching English in Japan... :P
  6. Have a look at these threads, you might find something useful: TAS 04 thread 1 getting around Tokyo by train is easy. Places to go? A good start would be: Super Autobacs, Crystal, Nismo Omori and top secret. I'm sure there's many, many more...

Just been browsing through my pic collection and realized I don't have any good VIP pics, especially of the vans. Will have to try and get some sorted this summer - in the meantime, anyone else have any VIP van pics for our viewing pleasure?

There's a real nice athlete estate in black near my place - looks really nice with a kit and rims
  9. DAY: Sunday 30th May TIME: 10AM PLACE: Gotemba Interchange. (Though this may be altered to the car park of the Ferrari museum. See the thread on the GTROC for more info.
  10. 10,000 yen and (now) 14 hours left Astronomical mileage and not in the best of condition either...

The President is also (IMHO) one of the worst styled luxury cars money can buy. Truly awful Celsiors are nice, with a sensible kit and decent wheels. Trouble is, more often than not they end up with some monster kit, wing's bigger than most planes, drainpipes...no sewage pipes for exhausts and massive wheels at a ridiculous camber angle squeezed under monster fenders....
  12. There is a short list of websites/garages/companies selling cars (both inside Japan and for export) here on my website.
  13. Now looks like the event is open to anyone, driving anything (within reason ) and it also looks like there's going to be a pretty good turn out. Date looks like Sunday 30th May, place has yet to be finalized (though probably in the Hakone/Fuji area) so come-on then lads, who up for it????

Here are some to get you started...
  15. Nah, you've got it all wrong guys - that lexan flap is actually a visual aid - it's a magnifying glass that allows the cops to zoom in on your reg plate during a persuit ;)
  16. Centre caps are available for the WORK Emotions Though in every case they're always silver (not white). I'll have to ask down at my local wheel shop see if they can order a set, though in the meantime I'll keep my eye on the auctions, most likely someone will appear selling a set
  17. what are the sirens held on with - double sided sticky tape? I've never seen those screens on cop cars from other countries (which travel just as fast during a persuit) so I'm curious why Japanese cop cars need a screen to stop the sirens blowing off!
  18. No centre caps So question for those in Japan: where to get them, and how much are they likely to cost!?! I was searching the auctions trying to find a set, no joy, but I did get the idea: would any centre cap fit (i.e. Rays etc) or must I get WORK specific ones... Thanx
  19. hehe - tis all about color coordination
  20. typical...today is the first day back at work for most and it stopped raining. Fortunately I don't start work till next week so I had the chance to take some pics... next up on the modding agenda : body kit.
  21. Yeah - our Up Garage is always busy - which is a good thing since it means they've always got new stuff appearing and their prices are usually pretty reasonable...
  22. Silly me!
  23. I know - major pain in the butt to keep clean, but they look good. red brake calipers...now there's an idea. I thought they looked pretty good on this:
  24. like a kid at xmas, couldn't wait to open me prezzie, or in this case fit the wheels width/offset is near perfect - wheels sit flush with the arches. Sorted
