  1. Prank has suspended the points system due to way, way too much post whoring going on...
  2. Have you tried World Lingo ? Or Global Gate
  3. I'm a complete skyline nut, so although there are plenty of other cars that I wouldn't mind owning (if I were rich ) funds only permit three cars... R34 Skyline GT-V (ohh yeah! Lot's of show, but not so much go) Nissan Cube (lowered, nice wheels and the family wagon that's shorter than my skyline ) Mitsubishi Minicar (it's a minicar. Nuff said. )
  4. Any recommendations for a good wheel for the xbox? I have the 360 Modena but I don't rate it.
  5. That's true. Last weekend I went upto my local circuit to check out the action. On the way there, I was cruising at a steady (but quick) pace along the country roads when this minicar (Suzuki) blasts past me. Right, I'm not having that and figured I'd blast past him just to show him who's boss like But damned he was quick! And not just around the twisties - even on an uphill straight he was rocketing along, and all this from what should be a 660cc turbo motor...I got him in the end, but I have to hand it to the guy, he's got one quick minicar.
  6. I believe it was. God, those GT40's look the stripes down the civic used to turn a lot of heads - definitely a bit of a rice thing, but nontheless guarranteed to get your otherwise non-descript car noticed
  7. Of course, the exhaust looks like it'd be more at home on a 50cc scooter...
  8. I like it I was tempted to spray the interior of my R33 but I figured it wouldn't be more than a week before the paint got all chipped and stratched...
  9. Daytime, very, very rarely. I do draw a lot of attention though - a foreigner in a rural area driving a bayside blue R34. At night it's a different story - I get a lot of people trying it on. Trouble is, though I hate to admit it, my car is more show than go (essentially stock N/A R34) so I'm not the fastest thing on the roads by any means Having said that, I can honestly say I've never lost a race yet...though this might be due to me picking races very carefully
  10. Tourist info on Nagano can be found here Funnily enough, I was in Nagano yesterday (my sons school trip). The bonus for me was driving past the Nissan Skyline Musuem (Nagano branch) - I knew it was in Nagano, but no idea where. I shall be returning to check it out sometime in the next week, will post pics if there's anything interesting. BTW - if you're interested in living in Nagano, there is a beautiful city set in a huge circular valley, with a massive lake in the centre. Flanked on all sides by mountain ranges, you couldn't ask for a more picturesque place to live... only problem is the name: Suwa City (pronounced Sewer! ...."Hey mom, I'm living in Suwa city!" :D )
  11. I haven't snowboarding in Nagano myself, but several friends/students of mine have and they highly recommend it. One of the best places to go is Shiga Heights - they have very heavy snowfalls in the winter. There are also plenty of hot springs/hotels and onsen - the area was host to the 1998 winter olympics... http://www.avis.ne.jp/~amagawa/HPenglish.html
  12. You know you want to ;) Forget fast paced and hectic city life, where people fight over standing space in trains, traffic moves slower than a car without wheels and rents are astronomical! :D re: insurance - I'm thinking of changing to a "low usage" insurance premium - I've heard "low usage" is usually under 10,000km/year so I should fall way below that. In the 14 months I've had the R34 I've just about racked up 7,000km!
  13. Sorry to hear about that Compared to the UK, theft in Japan is almost non-existent. But, it does happen, especially in the large cities. One of the few advantages to living in rural Japan: even less theft.
  14. Prank - as I mentioned in another thread, if it's possible to link points to length of membership (so points are gained on a daily basis for active members) then that might reduce the whoring. Points awarded for starting a new thread might not be a good idea lest the wasteland end up with a million new threads overnite Still, I have to admit, despite all the whoring going on, this point system has certainly livened up the board. All I need now is to get me monitor tinted - all these neon glowing usernames are a little bright on the old eyes!
  15. how about this for an variation on the stripes theme - my old *cough* ricer civic Took 20 minutes to apply and they were good for an extra 10kw at the wheels **disclaimer - I take no responsibility for the mods I carried out during my misguided youth**
  16. Yeah, having an accident is probably the main reasons insurance premuims are as high as they are. Theft is extremely rare here, but having said that there are numerous organised gangs who go around targeting certain types of cars (mainly celsiors, landcruisers and of course, GTR's )
  17. Dino - if insurance is proving too much for you, let me know and I'll swap you my car for yours! Think of all the money you'll save! :D
  18. Forget stickers - how's about this for a lovely bit of paintwork... For me, I must admit, I'm not to keen on having my door read like a parts catalogue Stripes are OK, depending on the car and style.
  19. in a word: expensive Least I think so. I'm paying around 9,000 yen/mth at the moment, full comp for a R34 with no claims for the last 5 years. Car is garaged, in a rural area and has a twin canine security system.
  20. Very nice setup - looks the business
  21. I wonder if it has anything to do with the sudden rise is post whoring...
  22. And that is all that counts
  23. So very true Once you've seen one town, you've seen them all About the only thing that makes Yamanashi seem a little different is a giant snow cone on the horizon... ... but even then, for half the year you can't bl00dy see the thing
  24. Dino - ever thought of becoming a tour guide! That's a pretty comprehensive list of places to visit in and around Tokyo
