Great link and a useful site. Though, I should point out that not all Japan's circuits are listed, quite a few of the smaller ones aren't listed, including Odaiba in Tokyo (where some of the D1 events are held)... Dave

I like the wheels on the first one. And that's about it! -

great pics! -
your question is very vague - firstly what R34 are you talking about? A 4 four door R34 GT with Auto trans costs a lot less than a R34 M Spec.

R33 with sig. cam. rb20?
Demon Dave replied to Drifterdan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
My previous skyline was an R33 GTS. R33 GTS - engine RB20E, single cam, 2 litre engine with 130PS output. You do get climate control, power windows, power mirrors and power steering as standard But you don't get ABS, traction control, HICAS, sway bars, etc. It's the entry level skyline. But IMO it's still a good car, after all it's a SKYLINE. though it is somewhat underpowered! They can be had for peanuts over here and there are plenty of nice examples around, the above car not being one of them. -
Getting to the Mitsukaido (Yawara) red park isn't too difficult - only a 30 minute drive from centre Tokyo. The museum itself isn't that large, but it's worth it to see the fine collection of Skylines both old and new (no R34's though), and the LM bodied R33 is particularly cool Here the redpark homepage: RedPark (BTW. The museum doesn't look like a musuem from the outside - more like a converted shop, but it isn't far from the station and not too difficult to find. ) I had no idea there was another Redpark in Suwa city (pronounced "sewer" - what a name for a city! ) which isn't that far from me. Do you have an address for the Suwa branch? When the weather improves I might take a drive up there...

I really like soarers. They're looks aren't to everyones tastes, but they go well - especially the twin turbo'd ones. Handling is excellent, despite their size (they're huge! ) and of course you get electric goodies gallore inside...

This is a great thread. some very useful info and it would be cool to have a step-by-step guide to turbo'ing an N/A. Some questions though: Since your running 10:1 on the compression and using quite a low boost setting what kind of performance gains are you likely to get? Approx? Even at the low boost levels, are there gonna be any long term reliability issues? Given the costs involved, is it easier/cheaper to do a turbo conversion, or do a complete swap (RB25DE to RB25DET) and then sell the old engine? Thanks Dave

That's an early concept/speculation pic for the next GTR...forgot which Japanese mag it came out in first, but it's been around for some time...

the aforementioned Arta NSX...

Superb pics and way, way better than my efforts! I did manage to get a pretty decent one of the Arta NSX, but aside from that the others are a little blurry!

Can't speak for the rest of Japan, but in Yamanashi where I am in snows plenty and they don't salt the roads. Instead, it seems like 90% of the road population head down to their local Autobacs, yellow hat, tyre shop whatever, and get a nice set of studless tyres on cheap alloys and run those during the winter months... either that or chains, which can be a pain to put on and take off.

for cars, Toyota's 4WD's have to be the funniest. There's nothing wrong with their names. But for some reason, Toyota feel that have to write some completely meaningless words on the spare tyre cover. Can make for amusing reading when sat at the lights...

As far as I know the only way of accessing the parking area itself is to get onto the expressway (forget the name), cross the bay bridge and you'll see it as you approach the Daikoku interchange. There's usually something to be seen during the weekends (daytime), but the real action usually doesn't start until the evening. It's a popular place which just about every kind of car club you care to imagine, from the Ferrari Club to the Honda AZ to American vans to the skyline clubs... Dave

Easiest way to break into a skyline?
Demon Dave replied to xaero1's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'm from the UK originally (Derby, midlands) so I know what it's like. Had my crappy metro broken into more times than I care to remember, once for an El Cheapo subwoofer and goodmans stereo! A good alarm, installed by a reputable electrician is a must. I'd also recommend an immobilzer if possible, and a crook lock if you don't mind the extra hassle. Nevertheless, cars still get taken and there isn't much you can do to stop a determined, proffessional thief. There's often reports on the UK skyline boards of cars being stolen, in some cases houses being broken into with the sole puropse of locating the keys to the car... -
The Daikoku PA would be a must for sure! I think you'll likely to see the most action on Fri, Sat and Sun nights. But there maybe other things to see during the week. For a look at top quality GTR's, Zele International have their garage not too far from yokohama in Atsugi City. (Zele-International ) Aside from that, I'm not too familiar with Yokohama's car-related attractions. Last time I went there I stopped by the Mitsuibishi Museum (near downtomw Yokohama) and that was pretty cool. Oh, and not forgetting the landmark tower, one of the tallest buildings in Japan, and probably the world too...The elevator ride up is pretty cool, and on a clear day you can see for miles (you do have to pay to go up the tower though)

Somehow I don't think you're going to get many replies to this. While you may have the best of intentions with regard to using the information, anyone can read this thread and there are those that would try to use a list containing details of "How my Skyline was broken into" for much less honorable purposes...theiving scum Get a decent quality alarm, immbobilizer, tracker and crook lock. If funds permit, a custom car-sized bank vault, 2 big dogs and a military regiment for good measure should pretty much guarrantee your cars safety... -
Thanks!

Mind if I ask what offsets you're running? I've been thinking of going for similar sizes for my R34, but my main concerns are getting the correct offsets, avoid any rubbing of the fenders (or having to roll the arches) and not having major tramlining problems...

If you are talking about the blue GTT in the link I posted above, then he has lowered the car. In his specs he lists Nismo G Attack S tune suspension setup and goes on in his review how he's disappointed with the drop in ride height with them. I don't know if the pics were taken before or after the new suspension, but either way it seems the Nismo S tune suspension is not ideal if you want real low down looks...

OK, As promised: a list of events and their websites Fuji Speedway Shizuoka Prefecture Tsukuba Circuit Ibaraki Prefecture Tokyo Motor Show Tokyo Auto Salon Osaka Auto Messe Best Motoring If anyone knows of any more, please post!
-
Not sure of a one stop place listing all the events, there's so many if it existed it'd be one hell of a list! I usually check out the circuit sites, FISCO, Tsukuba etc for details of there events, also Best Motoring (they've got an event on at Tsukuba this Sunday to which I'll be going!) and of course, TAS, OAM, the Tokyo Motorshow etc etc. Depends where in Japan your based (or going to be staying). I've got to get back to work now, but (unless someone beats me to it ) I'll post links to some relevant sites later... Dave

I believe GT-V sedan came out before the Coupe version. The Coupe Version, according to Nissan was released in early Jan of 2000. This would seem to be accurate since my car's DOM is feb 2000.
