  1. You gotta remember that essentially, what the ATTESSA system is doing is monitoring the rotational speed of all 4 wheels. If the wheels are rotating at different speed, the computer "thinks" one (or more of the wheels) is slipping and will start transferring torque. The system is designed to cope with small variations (such as natural tyre wear, or turning a corner etc) but when you start fitting different sized wheels and/or tyres front and rear the computer get's well confused! It's best to keep all 4 wheels and tyres identical. Plus the added bonus: you can rotate the tyres every so often and maximize tyre life...
  2. Yep, definitely glad it's back... Now, what were we all talking about before?
  3. Does anyone know the color code for Champagne Gold? Also, any other colors I may have missed of the list - for future reference!
  4. Mate, I know exactly how you feel! But you're lucky - at least your wife has some idea of what Super Autobacs sell! I've got to the point where my wife brings a magazine, goes directly to the waiting area and sits down for a quiet read
  5. Here's the color codes for the R34 GTR range. I'm pretty sure it's complete - the only color not listed is Millenium Jade, which I think was available on the R34 GTR M spec. TV2 : Bayside Blue QM1 : White KR4 : Sonic Silver KV2 : Athlete Silver GV1 : Black Pearl AR2 : Active Red EV1 : Lightning Yellow LV4 : Midnight Purple II LX0 : Midnight Purple III WV2 : Sparkling Silver QX1 : White Pearl EY0 : Silica Breath (quite not sure about spelling) That gold color definitely looks like a respray...
  6. Super Autobacs finally came to my corner of Japan... and I've been living in there ever since...
  7. Fortunately I'm not speaking from experience - but I have heard several cases on here (plus several other Skyline boards) of high powered amps/speakers causes wierd HICAS problems... examples of which are here and here
  8. powerful amps/speakers/woofers near the HICAS controller can have adverse effects on the system. Don't know why - most likely to do with either a power drain on the system or EM interference of some sort...
  9. S2000 if you don't mind a 2 seater. Integra Type R if not.
  10. and 2 more words: Better Looks! Seriously though. Depends on how low you go, how well the springs are made, whether they are suited to the car or not... A drop of 30 mm shouldn't cause any problems (depends on how big/wide your wheels are) I have RS*R spings fitted on my R34. No problems as yet, tyre wear remains pretty even. Ride height is lower, but not too low. Ride is firm, but not too harsh... Dave
  11. The engine on the flooded out car I looked at also seemed to run very smooth. In fact when I first looked at the car I had no suspicions - the only thing that raised doubts in my mind was it's low price... But, I'm just saying that it is possibility. Another would be that someone split a drink over the centre console and rust has occurred that way... As far as I can recall, Skylines do not have Sony Speakers from the factory. Easiest way to check - do they look like stock items - mine were greyish paper with twin paper cones.
  12. It's possible the car may have been in a flood. We the rainy season hits here, floods can easily happen (especially in my part of Japan) and cars can and do get flooded out... I once looked at a Skyline that was selling for much cheaper than it ought to be. Asked the dealer why this was so, and he said that it had been standing in water after a typhoon had hit. Sure enough, had a look in the boot and under some carpets and there were signs of corrosion... just a thought...
  13. remove the keys The chime will only happen with the doors open, engine off and keys in the ignition... even with the keys removed, you should still have the interior light on.
  14. Try this website: Unit Converter Dave
  15. My wife will be coming along aswell I imagine, and my 3 year old too - he wouldn't miss it for the world 'cause he's more of a car nut than I am
  16. Rezz - are you planning on going to the motor show this year? Dave
  17. Nismo keyrings? And other nismo goodies? I know what you mean - I used to have a choice with things like that: Order it and wait a lifetime or go down to Tokyo . But finally, we got a Super Autobacs here in Yamanashi and they sell all that kinda stuff. It was so nice to be able to walk into a store and pull a set of Nismo Clear indicators (Fr and Side) off the shelf. No ordering. No waiting. Great! They also have those little keyrings too! Rezz, as for your Bro using dialup. I was able to get it "working" when my parents were on dialup too. Wasn't very reliable, and the pic was very low res. but it worked and it only cost them local phone rates.... To use webcams effectively though, you both need to been on ADSL or similar...
  18. I think the underlying problem here is that so many people feel that have to have their say in what other people do to their cars. This, I think is fundamentaly wrong. What we each do to our car, our choices, our likes and dislikes are our own. Sometimes I get tired of people saying: "You shouldn't do this because it's rice..." "This car with that mod looks sh1te" "You can't drive that car with this mod." "This looks good, that looks bad. " "This is acceptable. That isn't." etc etc etc. If people want to fit bov's to their car because they like the sound and nothing more, then let them! I think at the end of the day: each to their own! Preaching Over Dave
  19. 86's may have been cheap when they were new, a long time ago, but now they have acquired almost cult status and price tags to match. Perhaps the original drfiters car of choice. They're pretty powerful, easily modded and make excellent drift machines. It's getting very hard to find good example now though, most have led a hard life, but there is a few good ones out there I'm sure...
  20. hehe - coincidences. My wife's name is also Kayo! Rezz - $500 on phone calls is very expensive. I used to use KDDI to call England, but I've since made the switch to a fast ADSL connection (8 mb), web cam and either MS messenger or Yahoo. Makes calling home much easier and cheaper, assuming you can live with a slight delay/reduction in sound quality...I think the last time I used a normal phone to call home was over a year ago... it might be worth you guys setting up something similar - it could save you $$$ in the long run. Regards Dave
  21. I heard the same thing - but you never know, a new GTR concept may make an appearance, even if the final "production" version doesn't. Regardless, from what I've been told, the event itself is one not to be missed. I'll be going
  22. Yeah, there's plenty of Japanese movies/TV shows featuring Skylines. In fact, there was an article in the news last month: Someone was killed/injured during the shooting of a new cop drama for TV. The accident happened when the stunt driver driving an R34 GTT lost control and spun out into a crowd on onlookers! ..The show has since been cancelled I believe and the producers arrested for shooting without the correct permits...
  23. Congrats Rezz. Best of luck!
  24. Stick with it Rezz - looks like you've got a lot of eager customers waiting back in Aus! :) ‚ª‚ñ‚΂Á‚Ä@
  25. I gotta agree with this. I've seen plenty of cars here with some seriously dodgy aftermarket guage wiring - cables twisted together by hand and the like! I personally would avoid cars with loads of extra gauges and cabling lying around the interior...
