  1. hehehe funny isn't it. It really pisses them off too This is one thing where they have to pay double what everyone else does. Normally it's the other way round...
  2. I've got lots of movies with Skylines in them - trouble is they're all home movies! Seriously though, now that you mention it I can only think of those 3 movies with Skylines in them...
  3. Just to confirm: It is a UK car. The conversion is very well done by all accounts. OK, a lot of people aren't too keen about making a car up to look like something it's not, but at the end of the day the owner of the "Skymera" can claim to be driving a totally unique vehicle! I also think people need to remember that a lot of the reason behind American's often making non-skylines look like skylines is because they simply can't get them over there - not without going through Motorex (or whatever) and paying big $$$$ Each to their own! :)
  4. The paint code should be on the blue VIN plate, inside the engine bay, towards the rear nearest the driver. The plate gives the body color code - you need to know that in order to get the correct touch-up paint.
  5. Ok, it's definitely something you're gonna love or hate. It may not be a Skyline and a lot of people would say he should have gone out and got a skyline instead of butchering a prelude to look like one... got to admit though, 10/10 for ingenuity!
  6. Not 100% sure about the R33's, but R34's are definitely aluminium...
  7. Nah not really - living in Japan helps, access to local info and all that As does being able to navigate through Japanese websites (with the wife around to translate ) Dave
  8. if it is the thrust bearing/clutch release bearing then you do not have to replace the entire gearbox! Usually gearbox problems are most audible when the car is in motion...
  9. I get a similar sound, particularly when the engine/gearbox are cold. It becomes quieter when everythings warmed up. I had my local Nissan dealer check it out, and they said it was normal. But, it could also be the clutch release bearing making a noise - hard to tell without listening to it.
  10. AFAIK the illumintated rear panel was an option on the R32's and R33's. You mean this:
  11. The prices when released (August 1993) were: 2.5 GTS25 Type G Sedan AUTO - 2,561,000 yen 2.5 GTS25 Type S Coupe MANUAL - 2,698,000 yen 2.5 GTS25 Type S Coupe AUTO - 2,835,000 yen 2.5 GTS25t Type M Sedan MANUAL - 2,878,000 yen 2.5 GTS25t Type M Coupe MANUAL - 2,898,000 yen 2.5 GTS25t Type M Sedan AUTO - 2,975,000 yen 2.5 GTS25t Type M Coupe AUTO - 2,995,000 yen 2.5 GTS25t Type M with active LSD Coupe MANUAL - 3,458,000 yen
  12. Ok, no probs. The only data I have is for the price of cars on their release date/model changes, so the closest I can get to 1991 is 1989 - the release of the R32 GTR. 1989 R32 GTR - 4,450,000 yen 1993 R32 GTR - 4,540,000 yen 1993 R32 GTR Vspec - 5,260,000 yen and for the R34: 1999 R34 25GTT (GT Turbo) - 2,913,000 yen
  13. I wish:( No, 30,000 yen is all I got for it as a trade in. I was expecting it to be low since N/A GTS's don't fetch much in Japan, but not that low. In retropsect I wish I had kept the car, especially considering that a month earlier I'd spent 70,000 yen on a complete new set of tires... live and learn eh...
  14. According to the info I have here, There were 3 specs on sale in 99 and the prices (then) in Japanese yen were: R34 GTR 4,998,000 yen R34 GTR V Spec 5,598,000 yen R34 GTR V spec N1 5,998,000 yen.
  15. What's with the newspaper? How does using a newspaper to dry work any different to a cloth or paper towel? Curious, because I just tried it and it did indeed appear to work better!
  16. My favorite color is, generally speaking, Silver cause it's easy to keep clean. but, for Skylines: R32: white or silver R33: Silver, then white then red! R34: What else?! Bayside Blue !
  17. Hey Rezz - just seen this thread. Nice going! Good luck with the enterprise! Regards Dave :P
  18. Reading all these posts got me thinking. Out of curiousity - what do Australians consider to be "high mileage" or "High KM's"? It's my experience living here, in Japan, that anything over 100,000 KM is regarded as very high. In fact, with the exception of classics and sought after cars, it's hard to find any car for sale above 100,000KM - well, not ones fetching reasonable prices anyway... A good example was my old R33 GTS. Excellent condition. 2 Owners. 90,000KM. Got a lousy 30,000 yen when I traded it in to buy an R34. (and I had to twist the dealers arm to give me that much for it!!! BTW - I'm British and as I recall, in the UK 100,000 miles is considered "High".
  19. Great find and extremely useful, Thanks for sharing. Dave
  20. Agree - I have always used a power tap from the cig lighter - easiest place to connect to.
  21. I heard that vinegar is pretty good for cleaning windows... Haven't tried it myself, yet, lest I end up with a Skyline smelling like a pickle!
  22. I wouldn't worry about that - that's pretty much normal for a a city bound 3 year old car here. I'd say that average KM's for a 3 year old car are around 30 - 50K KM. But, if you're unsure, go by the condition of the seats, pedals, etc...
  23. To be honest, I ditched my Trust Pod filter in favor of the stock box and filter. IMHO the power gains from using a pod are negligable and the risk (over the long term) of premature engine wear due to bad filtration isn't worth it in my book. But that's just my view. Read, think and then decide for yourself which filter you wanna use... Dave
  24. currently 21,000 ish. My last car reached 90,000KM without any troubles.
  25. Welcome!
