  1. It's not just the injectors is it? Check that it's not coming from near them, because most rb20's have very noisy injectors
  2. Ah really, damn, just the thing doesn't start boosting till about 4k rpm and take off in first is horrible, i was assuming 2530 would be about the same lagginess because alot of people complain about laginess in the 34 turboes (most people with stock 33 turbo's on seem to get boost about 500-700rpm earlier than im getting)and the 2530's i haven't heard complaints about, humm, decisions decisions
  3. Yeah, so I'm topic flooding today hehe Anyways i'm trying to decide what to do next to my car performance wise Currently i have a R34Neo turbo on my car, and it is fairly laggy and no very powerful. So i was wondering if i get it hi-flowed whether it will be even laggier, because any laggier and it would be useless off the strip in which case i'd get a 33 hi flowed or a 2530. I am also wondering how a 2530 compares to a hi flowed 33 or 34 neo turbo power wise? I know the prices are similar, although the 2530 are hard to find. Which should i go with? I was thinking of doing a rb25de transfer into this car but theres to many problems and i wanted it to be relatively original (+ the engine sounds so sweet) Also im currently only making 163 rwkw (althought that was done before split dump and 3" Cat, i don't think these would make much difference) with these mods so with a hi flow or the 2530 i would expect to make about 190 rwkw, so my current AFM should be alright correct? Dyno (dunno if it's helpful, maybe someone can see some problems)
  4. Hmm, methinks i'll bookmark this page so tomorrow when i've forgotten everything i've read today it's easy to find thx dudes
  5. Whoa thanks disco bet that took a while to write up, but damn helpful, cheers mate
  6. Ahh ok thanks, that helped alot, so the best way of identifying turboes is by there A/R i guess, unless it's a branded turbo like a 2530 or something, cheers
  7. what correlation does the "t25" have to turbine/housing size? Sorry bout all the questions just stuff i've wondered and never asked,
  8. K so just for my own knowledge can some one give me the turbo sizes on the following Stock rb20det turbo (t25?) Stock rb25det turbo (t28?) Stock rb25det neo/r34 turbo (would it be like a t28/30 because of the larger rear housing?) Thanks, i did try searching but all i found was the rb20det size and i already knew that
  9. ah, no replies so i ended up going with the $160 one without the antenna Any suggestions as to what i can use instead?
  10. I had the exact same problem, checked the AFM/cleaned it, new plugs, switched packs around, cleaned em, ended up being a shagged fuel pump, hope that helps
  11. Ok i have a cracked windshield that needs replacing. The guy quoted me $160 for it and i was pretty cool with that, however he didn't realise i wanted a shield with the antenna on the inside of the glass (as r32's have) and said one of those will cost $600 installed. I can't really justify spending all that money for a antenna. If i just run the wires around the dash a lil will i get radio reception from the major channels or will it need to be clear of the interior a bit? I don't want an exterior one, they're fugly. Is there an interior replacement or something thats cheap and i could buy, that won't be visible? Thx
  12. I had no noticeable performance gain on my R32 but alot of people say it helps both response and top end, so go figure
  13. whoa nice googling dude, thanks
  14. Nah that doesn't need sorting out it's all done, just wanted to know whether a resonator will drop noise levels alot or only a little or just change the noise, as i had one installed. Mine sounds the same actually (screamer) sounds like when my dump wasn't bolted on properly, soon as it hits about 5krpm, can tell the Edit: muffler, is flowing like a piece of crap, need 2 weeks to end already hehe
  15. SSS isn't a bad idea, if you can't drive a turbo, a mate of mine just bought one, goes pretty good and it's a nice car, only problem is the FWD, I'm not a fan of N/A skylines. Seems pointless
  16. K so the guy actually did it pretty cool it's got 3" pipe down to the join (3"-2") with 2" pipe near the end, which has bolts so i can change mufflers over myself Now (and for the next 2 weeks) it looks freaking gay though -_- Car spools at the same RPM as before which is a worry (sry bout quality my fone is crap and can't display the proper car colour) Btw, I'm still wondering if a resonator is likely to drop sound much, he put what looks like a 3.2" resonator/pipe thing in (my mate just worked out it's now 1/10th of it's previous sound)
  17. Was gona buy that guy aboves system and get it installed but my dad had already told the zorst guy that he can go ahead and make one up, zzzz. Ended up getting new cat back system, my old one was chopped and had pieces of 3" and 2 1/2" piping anyway, guys gona put a cheap muffler on for the moment and will put my old one back on later, he's also putting a 3" resonator in it. Am i likely to lose much sound from a resonator? I liked the way the car sounded and how loud it was.
  18. because i don't know how to make up the flange for it, or i would
  19. Too much effort, i cant weld and most places are gonna charge me around 150 just to weld a new muffler on and only if it's roadworthy, am just gonna go back to guys who noise tested it and tell them to go ahead with the 2 1/4 inch system
  20. Ohh thats awesome, i'll do that, hopefully gets me low enough to pass the EPA (just rang and got quoted 120-150 to get a flange thingo made up at midas, which sucks if it's still too loud)
  21. ohh thats cool, even less to replace, the muffler will just be bolted on i assume, was it easy to yank off and replace (How did you adapt 3.5" piping to fit the stock muffler, which takes 2/ 2 1/4"?, Did it fit on original mounting bracket thingoes)? Would be good if i could do it myself (rego $500, insurance 1900, speeding fine 400, the resulting broken window 400, wtf is with everything happening at xmas time)
  22. Nice, whats that setting u back
  23. The exhaust guy quoted, 300 for cat back with 2 1/4 inch piping (which they'd take off for me 2 weeks later) I'm thinking buy that dudes zorst from cat back, take it to midas where hourly is only $40 and it'll be 2 hours max, i spose. So yeh Josh i'm interested in it (cat back), preferably tonight if possible
  24. Hmm so i got done a while ago by the EPA (was on the way back from a workshop and my split dump was missing a few bolts, thats why i got done) I took it up to the testing place, and got 3 readings of 105db. I was sorta shocked, people always saying how quit rb20's are, i've never been pulled over before, personally think it's quiet and have had a few friends and a mechanic or two tell me it'll be fine. So now i gotta quiet it down (for 2 weeks, then i can go back to old zorst) Now i'm trying to figure out what is the most cost affective/easiest way to do it. So far i've come up with borowing a stock cat back from some one/buying one, and running that. If the rest of the system is still 3" do you guys reckon the stock cat back will quieten things down nuff or am i gona have to get some baffles or something? The exhaust is 3" split dump - CAT then 3" back to 5" hks super dragger muffla
  25. Yeh i was thinking of blocking it off, i've already made up a gasket for it, and i dont believe no BOV on a smallish turbo like what i have is gonna cause and damage, so i'll do that and post back here what happens
