Another coilover debate
chiksluvit replied to lizzy176's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Revalving and regrooving of front shock was done by heasmans, disassembled, revalved, with dyno before and after. The front shocks were also shortened to make sure the front springs stay captive, running 9kg/mm springs, rears I just used helper springs Bilstein rear shocks are the insert type, I just ran GTR ones which are shorter already with higher rates than GTSt bilsteins anyway, running 6kg/mm I bought the sleeves/ springs/ bump stops/ tops etc separately with sleeves and spring seats from US and assembled it myself to keep it within budget -

I’ve had my bilsteins reconditioned and converted to coilovers, cost just over 1k with new tops etc, shocks were revalved to suit the new spring rates -
I’ve put collars (not made by spoon) into a golf R and whilst the owner didn’t know what I did, she found the car to be more comfortable and the damping more controlled.. you could call this a blind test On the other hand I have it on my r34 and I couldn’t tell the difference because I changed the rear subframe bushes to solid aluminium and did height adjustable coilover conversion to the bilsteins at the same time.. and yes the collars worked with the new solid aluminium subframe bushes

I have urethane mounts on the r34 and the vibration is pretty much unnoticeable after around 500km of driving. Same mounts on a friends evo 6 was a totally different story however.. these will be fine on the Skyline I think

18 inch 370z wheels for sale full set of 4, fronts are 18 x 8 +43, rears are 18 x 9 +15, overall good condition, no buckles no cracks, tyres have 60% left, minor gutter rash. $700 350z brakes, these are the bigger non-brembo 06+ brakes, front rotor diameter is 320mm, larger than R34 GTt rotors, good amount of meat left in them (reckon around 70%), came off a 08' 350z Includes: rotors, calipers, pads, brake lines specs below: front rotor: 320x28mm; rear rotor: 308x16mm Front caliper: dual piston; rear caliper: single piston Cheap and a decent upgrade for non turbo skylines, fronts are direct bolt-on for r34 GT non turbo (with standard 14mm caliper bolt) and 03-06 non Brembo V35 and 350z (296mm rotors with single piston front and rear) Will need to enlarge the holes on the hubs by 2mm to fit non turbo r33 and maybe some non turbo r34, however, still a decent upgrade for a small amount of hassle Will not split the front and rear set, as it is cheap enough already $300 Pick up only, as they are bulky items

Have a set of 370z 18 inch wheels for sale. All 4 wheels are 18 x8, offset is +43, they're quality wheels made by enkei. One has some visible scratches. All 4 wheels are straight, no buckles. 2 of the wheels have Goodyear eagle F1 245 45 tyres, the other two have nankang 225 50 tyres, with decent amount of tread. $400 pickup only superpro urethane pineapples, have opened package but never used $70 Alloy subframe collar $50 Tein S.tech springs - medium They're the discontinued springs that have slightly higher spring rates than most lowered springs, 4.5kg/mm from memory. Works really well with decent shock absorbers such as bilstein, just don't need them anymore since I've gone coilovers Suits r33/ r34 rwd models $100 pickup only Located in Sydney, lower north shore, happy to post unless specified otherwise

Thanks mate Yeah they don't look the best appearance wise so hence the price.. left it rolling on garage floor for too long made some scratches. Still does the job well enough though. If it doesn't sell I might just keep them for "in case" too lol Sometimes I wonder why tein discontinued the s-tech mediums instead of the normal s tech..

Got a set of Tein mediums for sale, these will lower your car by roughly 30mm all around and are very comfortable Spring rate: 30% stiffer than stock springs, @ 4.5 kg/mm rear and around 4.2kg/mm ish for front Review: Whilst they're probably the stiffest lowered springs for factory shocks, they're still comfortable, and works really well with Bilstein shocks. Application: I've used them on both r33 gtst and r34 gtt and in both cases they've fitted up fine. The front springs were pretty scratched due to having left them rolling around in garage for too long, so I've painted it. Doesn't affect its performance however. they have been discontinued and you can no longer buy them new from tein anymore. Only selling due to going coilovers $100, located in north Sydney
