  1. I told them i don't have insurance just to see if they would say anything bout my policy with Just Car (a subsiduary if AAMI), was curious as to wether they have access 2 each others database, look up my excess, top it by $100 so it would be the cheaper option, then take my rating 1 and bump my excess up next year. I'm sure thats not what has happened but im not about 2 give them that much cash without getting an fully itemised quote. If they still don't give me anything then a lil letter from uncle QC might do the trick.
  2. Fair enough, mayb title was a cheap grap for attention, and mayb im having a bit of a cry. BUT as i like 2 consider all my options before throwing away large amounts of cash, and thought i'd throw one out 2 the audience. I just wanted 2 know if any1 had experience in getting information 2 substatiate the $value the insurance claims, and if i have any rights if i ask 4 an itemised invoice 4 the repair? Too many times have i just forked out 4 things that i have only found out later that i could have gotten out of or at least gotten a better price if i asked the right questions, i've worked in sales and was very good at the schpiel and have had many people waste alot of my time, so me thinks 'if i've got nothing 2 lose, then mayb i will make this a personal vendetta 2 give the rude prick at AMII a hard time and drag this one out a bit in my spare time.' 'why should i give them the easy sale.' Mayb it will be make me feel better even if it wont pay for all those bastards that have backed in2, dented and scratched my prized possesions in the past without leaving details. Thanx for your punctual answer for the rest of the questions though. Cheers
  3. Just gota phone call from AAMI saying i owe them $1300 for an accident that happened last week. I tapped a lady that hesitated pulling out onto a main rd. causing a few scratches around her crappy corolla number plate, fair enough my fault, i told her 2 call me once she got a quote 4 the damage, thinking we could settle on $500-600 cash. 9 out of 10 ppl would have taken that amount of cash 4 the amount of damage considering the damage done. She went straight 2 the insurance company. SERIOUSLY 2 scratches done 2 my flimsy fibreglass front bar couldnt have damaged much, anyway my question:: 1.Has anybody not paid up and delt with the consiquences?? 2. When you have an accident with AAMI they make you get 2 indipendent quotes from their repairers, Can i demand 2 see these 2 quotes via fax before i pay up?? 3. Cocky insurance salesman threatening me claims 2 charge me $4500 if i dont pay get a court order 2 automatically take it out of my pay and ruin my credit rating for life if i dont pay within a week... Is he trying 2 bluff me?? 4. Towards the end of the phone conversation he claims the car is already being fixed, how can it be when they havn't even contacted me 2 confirm who was at fault, she could have just as easily given a bogus story or tryed 2 reverse back after sticking out into an intersection, pretty far fetched i know, but it could happen..
  4. My two cents.... Optimax Extreme is a SCAM!, 18-20c more a litre over regular unleaded at my local shell. FACT: Ethanol doesn't attract the same excise and taxes as per crude based fuels, when 'blended' in the the refinery therefore should make the fuel cheaper. When servo owners making bout 1.9c per litre and ethanol technically being cheaper 2 produce, where does the 20c per litre go?? Hmmm.... Radio campaigns? As for normal optimax having 10c premium over regular unleaded, its just an additive pack pumped into the tanker at the refinery as its being filled with regular unleaded. And what explanation was there for optimax 2 jump from 7-8c per litre over reg. to 10c per litre?? I don't know??? 6 months later, lookey, lookey, 95RON fuel sold at shell slotted exactly half way price wise btw reg. and Optimax... SCAAAM!! Also... i remember the hype when this 100RON ethonal blend was released with some exceptions 2 what cars it is compatible with. I remember reading somewhere that Pre 96' Nissans (oz delivered) not liking ethonal. ie. Since my 32 may share some materials and manufacturing techniques with a oz delivered nissans, does this mean that it would be unwise 2 experiment with 100RON ethanol blended fuel in my car until the fuel lines harden, crack and burst with prolonged use?? Mayb im just being over cautious on my 15yo car..? One more cent... If ppl aren't noticing any change in their cars performance wise or pinging when using higher octane fuels or additives, would resetting your factory (if applicable)ECU help?? ie. letting it learn 2 run of what it was probably fueled up with in japan.. I've always gone with the motto: Always fill up with your 'niche' fuels at servos that have high turnover, ethanol (mayb all fuels) are great absorber of moisture which may collect in underground tanks over time, not sure as 2 how significant this may be in the real world but im pretty sure pre-flight checks on light aircraft involve checking all the tanks for condensation before flight, ref. TOP GEAR, Car vs Plane. great episode that one.. I'll shut up now..
  5. just stumbled across this post, i had the same problem a couple of weeks ago, asking friends if its a straight forward job 2 change PS belt, 10min they say, very straight forward. OBVIOUSLY they had never changed a belt on a 32 with standard IC, not sure if you said yours did, no other way of getting at that tensioning bolt with a ring spanner unless you have hands the size of a 3y.o. Break the bead of the IC piping with a big blunt flathead screwdriver, mine tooka bit of rocking it back and forward 2 break the seal, obviously you know getting the right tension on the belt is critical for longevity, don't just give it 1 extra turn 'to be safe' you will load up and scrub out the carrier bearing at the front of the PS pump, better 2 adjust a slipping belt then replacing the whole pump 6mths down the track me thinks. I've heard people say a 1/4 of a turn once its tight of you dont have a proper belt tension measuring device, Do you need 2 allow for the belt to stretch a bit?? Im sure there is a method 4 measuring the tension with a flat edge on the pulleys and a ruler pressed down in the middle 2 measure slack then plugging it into a formula. Eh..
  6. Has anyone been able 2 integrate this jaycar turbo timer with an alarm?? I know there are threads on this topic regarding a 30A relay, i don't quite understand how this works with a 2-point cut alarm system? The jaycar kit has outputs/inputs for alarm integration but they are a bit vague with the instructions with the manual and in the 'Performance tuning for cars'. Also, will this leave my car vulnerable whilst the engine is still running because this kit doesn't have a handbrake cutout.
