There are acually 3 valves all up in the car. There is the FICD, fast (first) idle controll device, as per nissan fast, this is the little PURPLE plug selenoid, all it does is open and closes to compensate for AC load. The ACC valve BROWN PLUG, regulates the engine RPM at idle, it controlls the idle to the motor. It work HOT and COLD, any time the car idles. IF this valve is stuffed or dirty, the car will hunt. There is also a COLD START VALVE, or IACV according to FAST, this is located below the intake plenum and sux to remove, i cut my hands up big time. This valve controlls the amount of cold air entering the plenum on a cold engine. It houses a sliding disc and a bimetalic strip, which allows for expantion and closes the dick. This does tend to stuff up, as i found out, it is suppose to be fully open below 20 deg and fully closed after 60 deg C, mine never opened more then half way. I need a new one. $208 from nissan, so i am hunting a second hand one. If you have hunting, i suspect there are several problems. ONE, your throttle body and butterfly are dirty and not sealing propely. When the cold start valve is open and the butterfly is not closing propely, the acc valve tries to wind the air back, and teh engine will hunt. OR thhe ACC valve is dirty or fauly, take it all apart and clean WELL with carb cleaner and brushes. Also possible that the engine temp sensor is a little out of wack, and teh engien is trying to add more/less fuel and the ACC valve tries to compensate for this. I have had cold start issue for the past 1-2 months, and no one, and i mean no one, can find what is happening, everyhting has been checked, rechecked, and still nothing, Time to swap over all the components and go from there.

Well i decided to pull my ACC valve off last night, basically because of the ongoing cold start issues. The reason i did was that eaven if i wound the screw all the way in on the ACC valve, i couldn't get a lower RPM then say 600. SO cleaned it up, pluged it up and all good workes well, the valve was clean, but i still can only get to 600 rpm. NO i don't want it to idle at 600 rpm, it was just an observation. I have set the idle as per procedure and seams to hold ok, but if i pull the ACC valve plug off the car will die, i suspect that this is correct? I have tested the ACC valve with the multimeter and the computer and all work OK, as per spec. Is there any way that one can test if the ACC valve operation is abnormal. ALSO found that my Cold start valve is a bit stuffed, if you put it in the fridge it only opens half way, so it is never fully open when cold. I kinda bodged it up to do so, and it work a bit better, but need a new one. Any idea on cost???????? The car still starts like a dog, leaning more to fuel injectors. I am going to deperesurise the system, and then push compressed air through the system to remove all fuel and see how we go.

we are just going to make a plate up and weld it to the role cage, somehow add some damping LOL.

yeah there apears to be heaps on, juts need to renew my cams licence. DAM IT.
-
yep the hunter block only just came back form the machinist, now juts need to decide if we go C2 or C3 class, dam it, we can't run our fuel injection in C3, and we are the only ones entered in C2, so i guess that's the hunter for the win. 3 weeks left, and sooooooooooo, much to do.

AHHH the studs are M10*1.25 TRUST ME i got the wrong ones the first time. Bursons , 12 studs $14 or so. They are good studs too. A gasket set is about $200 form Nissan, but basically you will need the manifold to engine gasket, manifold to turbo, and turbo to dump if you remove the dump. Also some copper washers and that's all.
-
I had a look at a few, only get genuine nissan one, they charge $115, but have a jarn and ask trade price, about $75. If you are pulling it all off, might aswell replace all the gaskets.

Blond at work, and i have Krystian, if he dowsn't fall asleep to early i'll come down with him.
-
have fun removing the manifold, cost, $200 in all new parts, and a days labour. i just did this on my car. It's dam easy if you follow the nissan manual. The hardset part was removing the broken engine studs, about 1 hour each.

which motorkhana was it, i really want to get into some of these. Yeah time for a him, you can get them from nissan for like $5, there is an excellent write up here about it. I am going to do mine sometime soon i hope, along with about 30 other jobs. LOL http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...howtopic=223737

In regards to delivery, i will be around next weekend, but i propably won't make it to teh drifts, so i might just pay for postage to send it down. I'm in Hobart. Send us a couple of pics, and we'll go form there. ALSO, is the software registered full version?
-
