  1. wellnot sure if it is R&R but it definatly drops off in a hole at 4500rpm and the the boost dropes off a bit and up she comes. I am using the stock controller for now and i t gets up to 12 psi and then bleeds off a bit. I tried a few different piping routings ect and no different. So now to get a EBC and go from there, i think the JAYCAr unit sounds like a bargain, but i am also looking into some HYBRID units, they have controller like the APEXI AVC-R for 1/3 the price and same functions. I have emailed HYBRID to get some more details but if somone has anythign on HYBRID that would be great. AS to boost, well i have managed to get 15 psi a few times and still alive, but i would not allow to do so for long.
  2. Well did all the tests definatly not the selenoid. I did all three coneection, almost blew the turbo, with the selenoid out and connected as picture 2 boost went up wayy fast past 10, same for number 3 but if i leave it as number one it seams to be ok with a 2 psi spike at hight rpm. Checked the wastgate all good there, shuts and opens fine and if i undo the wastage then boost does not spike ect ect. So what the hell is it. Anyway which way do i make the hole smaller or bigger for more, less boost. The restrictor that is.???? Hay SDK how do you find the jaycar controller working for you?
  3. So basicaly if i do the number 3 drawing and take off after teh compressor and vent after the cooler, that is a better option?
  4. "1. Connect straight from the boost source to the wastegate actuator ie; leave the solenoid out of the circuit. That will tell you if you have a plumbing and or solenoid problem." To do this, do i pick up the boost on the turbo side after the compressor or after the intercooler side, where the current stock connection is? So basicaly i pick up from the outlet of the turbo, go through the restrictor into the wastgate with the tee bleeding off to the inlet after the intercooler? "2. Check that the wastegate is actually able to open fully ie; disconnect the actuator arm and move the flap open with your fingers. This will ensure that the aftermarket dump pipe isn't stopping the flap from fully opening." The Flap works fine, the dump has been on for 3 months and had no problems, the problems started after i got the cat removed. It was a littel better this morning. I will take a picture of my current setup and post it up tonight. "3. Wire the wastegate fully open and take it for drive, it should build boost very slowly and not over boost." Will do and see what happens, i will post results tonight. ALSO Sydneykid, how do you find the Jaycar EBC, works well, i am looking into getting one of these for myself. MAD082, i don't have a tap to pick up before the cooler, other then the stock one the boost selenoid uses. I can connect it from there and bypass the selenoid and us the current pickup after the cooler to vent. Would this work like this. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...aycar&st=20 the second page last picture. This would bypass everything, and pick up after the turbo and bleeding back after the intercooler not the otherway arround which is stock. I have mine connected like as per my first post picture posted up. Which one of the three pics is correct and best way to setup.
  5. yep standard turbo, it just seams that the i can not stop the overboost at high rpm.
  6. Nope i drilled and tapped a new pickup so it is picking up the boost form the outlet of the IC same setup as stock, identical, slightly smaller pickup then stock, that's about all.
  7. Ok So basically this is my problem. I had a turbotech boost controller but it would simply not hold boost, the thing was all over the show. it would come up to 10 psi and then spike to 12 and then bleed off. This spike happend at about 4500-5000rpm. So last night i connected the stock selenoid back up, new hoses with the stock restrictor, but it appears that it is ok. So now the boost comes on much sooner and holds well at 10 psi (took dual boost off) till about 5000rpm and then i get creep up to 13 psi under full load with hardly any bleed off. Now i have a FMIC and 3" dump, exhaust and no cat, HKS pod ect ect, the usuall support mods. This only started to happen once the cat was removed, before it seamed to be fine. The stock restrictor is in place, but i have some question as to the connection details for the selenoid. From my previous post i have connected mine as per the picture and the manual, both seam the same. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=137778 So why would this happen. I want to get a JAYCAR EBC but if i can't set boost as is, there might be some issues. With the stock setup, how do i regulate boost with the restrictor in place, can somone shed some light on connections and sizing of the restrictor. At the moment it is stock. IE bigger less boost or more boost and what size do people use. Is it posible the wastgate is too small or bugared or something. I presume if the turbo keeps overboosting it will die soon, correct. Can somone point me in the right direction in regards to a possible fix, urgently, i don't want to blow my car up. The car is a Series 2 R33 with a FMIC, HKS Pod, 3" dump and exhaust and no cat, SAFC II, Walbro pump, FPR ect ect, amd managed 187 rwkw.
  8. Hay mate i have thesame problem, well basically i have the stock selenoid connected back up, as the turbotech was doing nothing. At night and in the morning if i go past 5000rpm the boost comes up to 12-13psi, but if warm boost stayes at about 10psi. I have a FMIC, dump pipe and exhaust and no cat, HKS pod and safc II. This only started to happen when i took my cat out, it seams now that the turbo has NO restriction it just goes off it's nuts. I am not using the JAYCAR EBC yet, but i wanted to see if the stock selenoid would controll boost or not, it holds 10psi form about 3000rpm and then goes over above 5000rpm. ANY IDEAS???
  9. Thankms mate that is exactly how i have it setup, only problem is that it overboost by 2-3 psi and holds it there from 5000rpm onwards. Gota try and find a solution for that
  10. thanks guys. any idea why i get a boost creep above 5000rpm?
  11. Ok so i had a turbotech boost controller, and my boost was spyking, so i took it off to connect back my stock controller. HOWEVER which way do the hoses go. Anyone got a pic, Does the hose from the turbo the inlet into the cooler go to the top or bottom of the selenoid. Where does the restrictor go, which way, to the wastgate or back to the gate. I have run the car and it holds 10psi all the way to 5000rpm and then climbs up to 12-13psi. The boost comes on strong as i have doen the grounging mod. I just don't remember which way things go. Looking at the diagram in the manual, the top goes to turbo inlet side before the cooler, then after the cooler, i pick up the one for the wastgate and the tee. Does the restrictor go after the tee on the wastegate side or before the tee on the intercooler side. CAN SOMONE post pics. ALSO if the boost goes up after 5000rpm why? What could be the problems. BTW. My car has all the supporting mods, dump, FMIC ect etc, hence the higher boost setting from stock.

  13. Toffy, depending on price, i might be interested, i am loking into a JAYCAR IBC whcih has same functions so this would do nicely
  14. they all sound GREAT but i don't have that sorght of money, looking at spending no more then $300
  15. WogsRus here Funkey Monkey, If this is still running can i please have the following 1 x Boost Controller 1 X Hand Controller 1 x Cable And freighted to Tasmania. Can i have totals and when we have to pay by? I will have money soon.
  16. I have built plenty of kits before, all small scale, and all worked ok. I already have an SAFC II, just need to controll the boost better. Is it hard to tune the controller on the road, do you start by getting 100% open and then work down or the other way arround. I have a friend who is an wiss at electronics, he would build it for me.
  17. I have a quick question, how hard are these things to tune by yourself, They certainly seam like a nice option, so i was thinking of giving it a try. HAY SYDNEYKID, how do you find the controller, is it hard to tune by yourself? Any more info
  18. HAYY i was going to post the same results. I had my car on the dyno, and the controller was all aover the place. I took it apart and realised the spring was the wrong way around, fixed that, and it a littel, marginaly better. basicaly the controller set to 10 pis, will spike at 4500 all the way to 12 or 13 and then bleed off down to 10 or 9 after 5500rpm. This sux for me cos as it spikes the computer goes to R&R and creates a flat spot, then all good. IF i don't use WOT, then the controller is ok. But it seams slugish, mine doesn't come onto full boost till 4000-4500 rpm. Has anyone found a solution to the problem or something. I am thinking i might switch to the JAYCAR boost controller or the HYBRID full electronic boost controller. AVC-R are tooo expensice and teh jaycar kit does the same job, just needs to be tuned on the dyno to get propper results. THOSE with the JAYCAR kit, how did you find tuning it, can it be done on the road?
  19. TO ALL PLEASE READ EDDIT POST. MUST APPOLOGISE TO ALLL. ANDREW SORRY MATE PLEASE READ MY EDITED POST.
  20. Yeah i would live to have one like that, BUT too much money dam it.
  21. What about these, anyone heard of these at all? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/hybrid-full-electro...1QQcmdZViewItem
  22. What do you guys think of the dyno curve, it sux a bit cos once it gets to 6250rpm she platoes out. Yeah i would love a teh APEXI AVC-R but dam pricy, tooo pricy. if i have the TURBOSMART singlr boost, i can just run that without the hi low mode then can't i. I have ripped out the stock selenoid so not sure if i have all the bits to connect it back up.
  23. Car: R33 GTST Series 1.5 Mods: Walbrow GSS342 pump Adjustable fuel reg FMIC from CRD Flyen 3' dump and 3' exhaust all the way through $22 boost controller (spiking like crazy) HKS Pod and intake Stock Internals Stock Turbo managed [email protected] psi the controller was spiking bigtime and then dropping off so it looks like time for a new controller, something good. The car pulls ok, but then hits a down spot and then takes off again. Goign to talk to the tuner see what we can do. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=137100
  24. dam it, my car ran like crap this morning. Dam overboost, i think the car is also hitting R&R, so it makes it worse. LOL. What do you think of the power curve, preat crap, or allringht, the car just doesn't feel right, it seams wrong. Pulls hard then flatterns out, then pulls dam hard again. BUGGA
