  1. I remember reading from some website that says the brand of the modem doesn't really affect your internet speeds. How much does it actually matter? Oh, i just found out i'm about 1.152km from my exchange which is at Lonsdale and Queens Street
  2. Question time. Which modem would be better? 1) The telstra Thomson ADSL 2+ modem sent by telstra 2) A linksys/belkin/D-link modem
  3. And this is my new current Telstra net. Apparently it is still not achieving maximum speeds yet according to Bigpond as i've not received my Telstra modem
  4. Hogsbreath originated from Australia dude. Queensland to be exact. The Singapore branch at Chijmes is nothing compared to the ones here So i'm sure you'll love the one in melb.
  5. i would like to see Ash's results on this
  6. 1 word for Rockpool in Crown or the one in Sydney.... OVERRATED.. Been to both Rockpools and tried their wagyu steak. No idea why Roger Federer was known to frequent the restaurant every time he comes over for Aus Open. If budget isn't a problem, go try Vue De Monde in the city. If not, you can try out the newly opened Maze restaurant at Crown Metropol opened by Gordon Ramsey. At vue, expect to spend about $200+ a person for something average. Personally never been to Maze yet, would be trying it out in the next couple of weeks i hope.
  7. Well, this is my current optus net. Decided to go with Telstra in the end due to my Foxtel package Sux eh? ADSL 2+ in Melbourne CBD
  8. Since it's in China, they'd probably list them up for sale as BRAND NEW parts for R35
  9. From the license plates, this photo is taken in China! Damn rich cu*ts!
  10. Sorry to hijack the thread. Are there any driving schools in the CBD and surrounding suburbs anyone know of?

    Dumpling Joints

I did recommend that place before you Who's the amateur here? Anyway, this dumpling place might be cheap and good but try taking a look at the kitchen. I was there this afternoon sitting at the back on the ground floor, saw the waitress cleaning the table before handing back to the kitchen, picked up a dumpling from the kitchen table with her hands and drop it back on the plate

    Car Alarm

1st thing is to join the SAU VIC club and be a paid member. Then approach this car alarm guy called Ben. He did alarms for heaps of SAU members. Not too sure whether he still does it though. Maybe some one else can fill us in on his status? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ca...nd-t174517.html

    Dumpling Joints

After going to places like Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, i reckon the closest you get to good 'Xiao Long Bao' will be at Hutong in the city. It is just opposite Flowerdrum. Be sure to ring them up and book a table before you go. Eating these xiao long bao is an 'art'. You have to pick them up carefully from those bamboo steamers, ensuring the gravy is still inside, dip it into some vinegar and devour it. A good xiao long bao is one which has the best gravy and thin fine skin. Doubt any other places in Melbourne can be any better than Hutong in that aspect. If you are talking about steamed or fried dumplings, the Shanghai Dumpling place at Tattersalls Lane in the City would be my pick. Another place worth mentioning will be 1+1 Dumpling noodles restaurant along Hopkins St in Footscray. Btw, steamed dumplings and xiao long baos are 2 different things My 2 cents
  15. Exchange: DONCASTER CCA: MELBOURNE State: Victoria Class: Zone 1 (Metro) This was what i see when i type in my phone number on the Whirlpool forums to check for my telephone exchange. How did you find out your exchange is in Collingwood? Did you find out from this site? http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/?tag=AEG_Vic Well games i play are pretty much local servers like COD . A slight lag might mean the enemy sees me before i see him . I understand that internode and iinet are currently the best outside Telstra/Optus. I'm currently using ADSL 2+ with Optus. They have some deal going on that provides free cable installation to your house and i can have full foxtel channels. That's what bought me over
  16. Interesting comparison Ash. I live in the city but i checked that my exchange is actually the Donchaster exchange? Isn't that a bit weird. Does that mean my closest exchange is all the way in Donchaster? Yes, i'm looking at the BigPond Elite Cable. According to the customer service guy i chatted to, my download speeds should be able to hit 30MBps. No idea if he is bull-shitting me or not. I use the net for surfing most of the time and occasionally gaming. So i'd like smooth and lag-free internet.
  17. Hi people, i'm considering making a change from ADSL 2+ to Telstra Bigpond Cable internet. Has anyone here done that before? Correct me if i'm wrong, i think cable would have much faster download speeds than ADSL2+? Thanks
  18. I wouldn't even go near the latter that you recommend. DT Panels will be the place to go for a budget spray.
  19. That's pretty cool. Did you do that yourself?
  20. Go to the Tyrepower at Hawthorn. They take care of tyres for track cars from Chasers and they give a decent price. Micky is the person to look for. Ask him what he can recommend you for your budget. As what Paul said, you should be careful about what you choose for your tyres. They are the most important link between your car and the road. I wouldn't be stingy over tyres. Suggest you budget more than $200 a corner if possible for your 265s.
  21. I would go to the DIY Car wash along City Rd / Crockford St. Opposite a 7-Eleven servo. They close at 10pm though. It is one of the cleanest DIY wash around the CBD area and it is just down the road from where u live.
  22. Does this mean the car is sold to you already?
  23. Was trying to play a downloaded game and it didn't work either. Don't understand how the game can't be started when it has nothing to do with playing online

    Money Changer

Thanks for all your suggestions and feedback people! Managed to change my currency back into AUD this afternoon. I have to agree, the shops along Swanston Street do have pretty competitive rates. I would recommend anyone who is looking for some currency exchange to shop around that stretch and you will be surprised at the rates they are willing to offer. Thanks again.

Thanks Kaz! Will give them a ring tomorrow and see what they can do for me. Was thinking of heading down to Swanston tomorrow to check out the exchange rates too.
