  1. Yeah I've had a few races where I've gotten past them with a few laps to go and they sit on your arse until the last lap when they suddenly start dropping back
  2. I have to agree about the ai getting slow on the last lap
  3. I use bumper cam
  4. oh and i agree about having something to chase. it certainly makes licence test more entertaining as i usually have a crack to get the best time, or at least not the slowest, lol. although on the seasonal event for the ft-1 i did tonight i only did 2 laps to get the gold and couldn't be bothered trying to get a better time.
  5. new best time. 1:55.834. i definitely have a mid 1:55 there for the taking, but we are talking no mistakes to do it. on my 1:55 lap i was 0.906 up on my 1:56.395 lap at the final split (halfway down conrod straight). when i saw that come up i just did my best to keep it on the track and was a little bit over cautious into the last corner, and had a small moment up near reid park). the lap before that one i was 0.7 up at the last split and then cut the corner coming out of the chase a whisker too much and got the lap invalidated, so i didn't want to lose my super lap.
  6. I reckon I can get into the 1:55s. Just did a 1:56.395 with a few small errors. The following lap I was .23 faster at the first check point (halfway up the first straight) before I cocked up my braking point and drilled the wall
  7. Yeah 1:58 is fast. I don't think I could get below 2:00 in an earlier gtr than the r35. The 35 is a totally different car (the 34 is more fun though). It's more stable across the top of the mountain, (although it understeers more coming down the mountain) and the fact that it has about 300hp more power (although it's also heavier). I'll have a go with some different cars tonight if I get a chance. I'll try a lancer, etc.
  8. I live in a 2 car garage and play the ps3 on my bed...... But anyway, I discovered that I hadn't changed the oil on the cars I was having a go with, so I did that, gained some horsepower then had another go. Car: r35 gtr black edition '12 (same as earlier) Name: Mad-082 Time: 1:58.560 Pretty happy with that, but reckon I might be able to crack into the 1:57s if I sat down for longer and really had a proper go and played with the tuning of the car. Also got my r34 (well different r34 to the one I used before) into the 2:02s with a few mistakes.
  9. That's a good lap. I was stuffing around and did a few laps in my r34 n1 and I only did a mid 2:05. It was a sloppy lap, but not sure that I'd get over 3 seconds more out of it, at least not without playing around with the tuning
  10. Ok, change that to a 2:01:594. All other details the same
  11. Ok, well I might as well be the first to post a time. Time: 2:03:599 Name: Mad-082 Car: r35 gtr black edition '12 Mods: everything (but no running to suspension, etc) Shouldn't be too hard to beat, since I crossed the line backwards in a cloud of smoke after a massive tank slapper, lol. And I had a big moment coming into the cutting where I lost a few car lengths on my previous best time
  12. You buy me one, as well as a house big enough to allow me to set it up and I'll use it.
  13. It was never going to be massively different from previous games. I don't understand why people think it will be. Yes the physics have a bit of a different feel, but it was never going to be like changing mario kart and gran turismo. And I can guarantee that gt7 will only be a small evolution of gt6, and gt8 will just be an updated gt7. So if you expect there to be massive changes, leave the franchise now and find a really shit racing game that they are planning on making a sequel of and hope it's better. I'm sure that the forza games don't get revolutionary changes between games. Just updates to menus, tracks, cars and mod features.
  14. My guess is that they will probably get added down the track.
  15. I was thinking about this yesterday (while playing gt6). If gt6 was a true simulator, when racing at a track with long straights in a stock skyline, you'd have a sudden loss of power and a message would come up saying that your turbo just spat it's exhaust wheel. Our when racing a gtr you'd have oil starvation issues, or when driving a Silvia and sitting on the start grid bouncing on the limiter before taking off, you'd have a rocker arm let go, lol. Or as your skyline got older you'd have to replace your coils to get rid of a misfire, lol.
  16. You could always sign out of psn before loading the game and see if that stops it. Or turn off the network settings to stop it connecting to the internet and checking for updates. But the updates don't bother me too much. Only took about 20 mins for that 1.2gb update for me.
  17. Oh ok, lol. I forget who is who of people I've got added.
  18. Yeah it's good fun. Can have done massive loses if you push too hard though, lol. Mad-082 is my username (i think). I need some more licence times to chase, lol. my times are controller
  19. I've done a couple of the seasonal races. the one with the Hudson was interesting. I'm pretty sure the online record is about 7 seconds faster than the gold time. the gold time wasn't a walk in the park (I only beat it by half a second), so how they found another 6 seconds is beyond me (although I haven't looked at any replays of their runs to see if they have found some way to improve the times)
  20. you actually drive on the moon. it's pretty crap. now that I'm driving more powerful cars I'm liking the physics more. oversteer is much easier to control. it's no longer near impossible to hold a decent slide, or link up corners. I've been racing in a s2000 with minor mods and its great fun. and also hitting the kerbs unsettles the car more which I like. I've also found that in some cases you can use the kerb to corner better. if you hook the inside wheels over the kerb then it sort of holds the car. and you can use them on the exit to catch a slide too (like coming out of turn 2 at bathurst) on the note of bathurst, I love racing it. going along the top of skyline and down to forrest elbow, you get an idea of just how busy the race drivers actually are in real life. and something else I noticed with the physics that took me a little bit to get used to, but like, is that at very high speed they've given the steering a heavy feel to it (taking into account how the extra down force puts more pressure on the wheels, plus the wheels rotating at high speed makes them harder to turn)
  21. i used to bitch about the price of fuel, but these days i don't see the point. the profit margins in fuel is low compared to many other things (like bottled water). sure fuel will never be what it was 10 years ago, and it's silly to think it would be. inflation alone can be used to account for about 30c of the price difference from then to now. not to mention that it's still much cheaper than fuel in europe. as for servos varying prices within a few minutes of each other, you have to take into account the running costs of the servos. ever seen rent prices of houses vary by large amounts even though they are only 5 minutes away in another suburb? well the same goes for commercial property. but the servos i pass everyday don't fluctuate the way some do. some haven't changed their prices in weeks. others will vary by a cent or 2 maybe once a week. but i have seen some odd price differences between towns. i work in noosa and live in gympie, so i see prices in gympie, noosa and cooroy everyday. noosa and cooroy are generally similar in price. gympie will sometimes be the same, other times i've seen it vary by up to about 8c a litre. it will generally go in cycles that last a few months. so for a few months gympie may be 5c a litre cheaper, then there will be some price volatility and after that settles down gympie will be 5 or 6 cents more than noosa/cooroy (more being that noosa/cooroy will have dropped their prices and gympie has stayed somewhat the same). but there is one exception to all this. there is one servo in town that is currently about 10-12c a litre cheaper than every other servo in town, and has been for quite a while now. i had also heard rumours that there was also a servo in town whose bowsers were inaccurate by around 5% or so and it was thought to be that servo, which would roughly make up for the difference in price.
  22. i'm on android and having issues. i can't see stickies and can't post as i get the same message about security key not matching that t5iv is getting. and this is on a fresh install of the app on a freshly factory reset phone (was doing it before the reset too).
  23. i agree about the multiples of cars. it isn't just mx5s though. does there need to be so many different r34 gtrs? why not scrap some and put in a 33 gts-t and a 34 gt-t
  24. The fact that you can see your friends times in the licence tests is kind of cool.
  25. I got it from big w today too. Haven't played it too much but agree with the 2 posts above. Tyre squealing is kind of realistic though. Tyres do squeal quite a lot in real life when tortured. Only have 1 car so far, so can't comment, but I have a good surround system, do didn't find the gt5 sounds that bad. Especially when you take into account that the sounds change with different views, just like they would in real life. A car sounds different from the front, back and inside the cabin in real life, so it makes sense they should in the game too.
