I Need Help! My Speedo Is 15Kph Slower
mad082 replied to AlexWaltham's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Sorry but you are wrong. I can provide links to various tyre manufactures websites to verify that it is the percentage of the full width if the tyre if you like. you have to remember that the sidewall starts at the bead of the tyre. 45mm is small. For me it's the width of 2 thumbs, and given that the rim covers about 1 thumb width, I know that the tyres on my skyline were more than a thumb width from the rim -
if talking aftermarket i don't think there would be, especially given that the cam gears used for the rb25 are the same as rb20 and rb26. all they do is turn the cams when the crank turns. not really any different features there

what do you mean by choke? do you mean misfire? if it is just misfiring then how old are your plugs? if they are old then that may be the cause, but it may also be that you have a failing ignitor or coilpack or even an issue with one of your afms

Yeah there is nothing wrong with dlc content. It is a good way to stop games going stale before the next one comes out. I very much agree about not needing to have 50 different mx5s or gtrs, when they then leave out the gtst and gtt. Just put in the base spec and the top spec and leave it at that. No need to then put in ones from every different year they came out. As for sounds, I doubt that announcing improved sounds will be at the top of the list.

What I like about the gt sounds is that they change with camera position. and in real life the sound of a car will be different depending on where you hear it from. Standing behind the car you will hear the exhaust note much more than if you are at the front of the car, where it will sound totally different. I think this is what many people don't take into account. They are used to hearing a cars exhaust sound and think that when using the bumper cam the car should sound like the exhaust. Surely you have all noticed that your own car sounds different when driving to when you hear it drive past, or if you have the bonnet up and rev it. And I've got a good home theatre system and the cars sound good on gt5.

I read up on polyps a while back. General consensus is that operations to remove them are only a short term cure as many people have them develop again.

Given that 95% of skylines (and 180sx and s13, 14 and 15 have canons, I'd have to disagree. I'd say that it's easier to convince a lancer driver to not put a canon on than it is to convince a skyline owner to not put a canon on. Cause canons are jdm......But as others have said, no performance gains from having a canon over a straight through oval muffler.

For the cost of buying and fitting a rb26 you could build a 25 with a buttload more power. And to try and keep up with the Ford, do exhaust, intercooler, wind the boost up to start with.
-
Are you certain the guy was actually away working? Maybe he is lying and just raped the car for a month and then it died. Either way, it's got nothing to do with you. As long as it was running when he drove away then anything that happens after that is his problem.
-
The z32 afm is the same size as the rb25 afm, it just reads differently. There are no power gains to be had from using it, especially on a na motor that won't be getting even close to maxing out the stock one.

Ask the guys who did the dyno run what the afr's were like. My guess is that it's a mix of them being a bit rich, the timing probably needing a bit of a bump up, and the engine being a bit tired that is causing the low numbers you got (you are about 40kw under the normal output for those mods)

Black 33 gtr (pretty sure it was a gtr) pulling out from the lights near maccas in gympie and then heading south

Possible R&r? Only 10Psi, Happens Randomly?
mad082 replied to hop1308's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The iridiums in my 33 only lasted about twice as long as the copper ones I put in (sold the car with the copper ones, so don't know how much longer they went, but the copper ones in my Commodore daily have done 60,000kms). And if you changed the plugs back to iridiums and the misfire went away after the copper ones made it worse, then you must've not plugged a coil in properly or something like that. Regardless of the different materials, a smaller gap gives a stronger spark, so is less prone to misfiring. A bigger gap gives a longer spark, which is what you want, but is more prone to issues -
Actually, I think this thread is more suited in here than wasteland......

R33 Gts-T Factory Ecu Question
mad082 replied to Jbowie2703's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
What do you mean by "the boost had been cutting"? If you mean the ecu has been cutting power, then simply wind the boost down a bit more and it should stop doing it. Other than that, it should be fine to take to the track. The stock ecu has a safer tune than an aftermarket ecu -
regardless of that, look in the pic of the fuel filler. there is 3 different bubbles of rust above the cap. the work old mate did was below the cap, so it would still have rust even if the work below the cap was done properly.
-
I'm going to go out on a ledge here and say that maybe this isn't the fault of the guy who did the work. He may have done what he though was enough to get rid of the rust that was there, but if the rust was penetrating through from the back of the panels then it is very hard to tell just how bad it is. I had a mate who is a panel beater fix some rust for me. He ground it all off and welded in new metal where it needed it. 3 years on and it's back in the same spots, but also around where the work was done. all I can put it down to is that the panels were rusting from the back, which was pretty much impossible to access due to the location. Not saying it isn't the guys fault, just saying that on an old car like a ke70, there's a good chance that rust is going to occur regardless of how well the work was done.

I Like Your Old Brap Better Than Your New Brap
mad082 replied to *LOACH*'s topic in General Automotive Discussion
I've never understood why people get so excited about a car company reviving a model ages after it was canned. people get all excited and then butthurt when it's nothing like the original. of course it's going to be nothing like the original. Times have changed. sure it may loosely resemble the original, but it isn't going to be the same as what it was. no-one would buy it if it was. essentially the rx7 never died, it just got rebadged as the rx8. just like nissan reviving the pulsar name. it never really got canned, three name just got changed to tida. was interesting to read that it is going to cost more than something like a 370z, so it is probably not going to sell that well. -
it isn't so much that cycling causes back issues, but just that plenty of people with back issues cycle (my back actually plays up if I don't ride for a while). some certainly don't help themselves though, by setting their bike up poorly, or not getting fit up properly when buying the bike.

I just measured about halfway up my thigh. If I measure right up towards my groin then I get 22". I'm not to fussed on muscle size, otherwise I'd hit the weights. But being bigger wouldn't help me much. I'm more interested in being able to go up hills fast, which means less weight and more stamina. I'm currently working to get under 70kg.
-
I only have 20" thighs, but I'm 6'2 and weigh 72kg and don't do any sort of gym work (just a few hours on the bike most weeks)
-
I don't think it'd be that fast. Most of them would be out of puff before they even got going very fast, lol.

there is a German track cyclist by the name of Robert forstemann. he has the biggest quads I've ever seen. I feel sorry for his bike. he can squat 260kg (there is a video of him doing 2 squats at 260, and another of 8 reps at 220kg). he can leg press 640kg (both legs). again I realise that it is what you'd expect from an elite athlete, but they are still impressive. I'm sure there are gym junkies that could do better.
-
Google says 72kg. which would be about right. my missus is only a touch shorter than her and weighs 56kg. but yeah, what she can squat doesn't surprise me. still impresses me though she is probably the strongest female cyclist around in terms of actual raw muscle power (which you can tell by looking at her). she isn't a natural cyclist like other pros, so she has had to bulk up to be able to get the required power. her sister is actually a more natural talent and almost as successful (would probably be as successful if it wasn't for a crash at a crucial point in her career)
