  1. its probably also a problem that may take a little bit of time to appear, like running 2 different tyre sizes on the rear of a rwd car. it will eventually wear the diff out.
  2. no point having big brakes if you already lock tyres. bigger brakes will only cause more lockups. to effectively use bigger brakes you would need better tyres.
  3. pineapples shouldn't affect camber at all. you would need a camber kit to adjust camber.
  4. x series falcon, au or later falcon, magna, and i think camry. its the front where you run into problems due to the big brakes.
  5. thats just a s1/s2 thing. pretty much any turbo r33 is a type m, except for 1 model of the auto sedans which is a type g.
  6. cheers.
  7. didn't you know? imports are the new bogan mobiles. time to move to the euro cars.
  8. when it comes to hot rods people are generally pretty picky. the old boy got all his chrome stuff done properly so it wouldn't flake after 12 months, so i don't think he will want a DIY job for his annodozing.
  9. and the good thing about the r33, full boost by under 3000rpm. i was getting 13psi by 2700rpm on stock turbo.
  10. my father-in-law wants to get some stuff annodized for his hot rod. does anyone here know where in SE qld does it? i know you can get the paint that loks like it, but he wants it doen properly.
  11. i went the r33 for a few reasons. 1. they are a quicker car. sure they weigh a bit more, but they have more power, and a better power/weight ratio. a r32 with 2 people in it weighs about the same as a r33 with 1 person. 2. nicer interior. the are a more modern looking interior with a nicer looking dash. 3. price. its easier to find a cheap clean 33 than it is 32. a clean 32 will often cost more than a clean 33. 4. did i mention that they are quicker? i was tossing up between a 33 and a 180sx. i had quickly ruled out r32 (unless it had a rb25 in it). i couldn't see the point of the r32. they have about the same power (7kw more power, but less torque) than a sr20 powered silvia/180sx, but weigh about 100kg more so i ruled them out.
  12. in qld they don't take your details every year.
  13. why would it be stupid to have a 4" exhaust on a bus? f250's come out with about 3" stock. as for cannons on hundy's, why is it ok for you to put one on your skyline but not any other car? is there a law that says you can only put a cannon on a import? and what about if i have a NA silvia? or a SSS pulsar? is it ok to have one on a silvia but not a SSS pulsar even though they have the same motor? how many people put a cannon on a skyline cause it is the cool thing to do rather than a oval muffler (which will flow just as much and quieten the car better)? just as many that put them onto little buzz boxes to try to be cool. my magna has a cannon on it. i didn't put it on, the previous owner did. why did he do it? to make the car sound better. and it sounds much better than it would've with the muffler that was on it. i had the same rear muffler on my last magna and removed the centre muffler and it sounded nearly as good as this did. but with the cannon it sounds a bit meatier. but if you are going to bag falcons and commodores with cannons, then you should also bag out NA imports. the people who put them on NA imports only do it to be like the people with turbo imports, so they are just as bad as someone with a lancer.
  14. i don't know how accurate that site will be though. all it will tell you is how many k's the car had done when it was last registered. the car doesn't have a little transmitter in it that tells them exactly how many k's it has done. example: if i own a car from new, department of transport has no way of knowing exactly how many k's i've done. however should i sell the car the amount of k's gets put on the transfer paper. thats how they find out. so should i wind the car back 50,000ks, they have no way of knowing i did.
  15. it will last 12 mins.... but in those 12 mins you could drive about 80kms. i don't like the red guards and bonnet. much prefer it all black. any car where you have to put a key into a slot to put it into "go stupidly fast!!" mode is a winner in my book.
  16. my sister-in-law's boyfriend has a xr6t. i was sitting at the end of the street in the rain 1 day and he came off the roundabout and up the hill. he didn't floor it but gave it a little bit of gas and the traction control kicked in for a second. that sounds cool. its like having a rev limiter kick in when the exhaust note is at its deepest. was the best sounding limiter type noise i have heard, cause it wasn't screaming, it was nice and throaty.
  17. i used to have a festiva. i'd have to say that for raping it round town, the festiva was much more fun. you could absolutely rape it, and not break the speed limit.
  18. zoom did a tech article on the xr6t. they took the centre muffler out and gained 17kw, and it was still well under the legal sound rating. stock for stock i'd say the xr6t would beat a gts-t or gtt skyline. and if you start modding them to a point where you start changing ecu's then the xr6t will hose a gts-t/gtt. just by remapping the stock xr6t ecu they can gain up to 100hp (remember that these cars were detuned to have less power than the v8's. there were a few cars recalled because they had a 300kw tune in the ecu - which is what ford was orginally going to run them at). there is one in town tat has just had exhaust, flash tune and boosted up to about 11psi and it put down 390hp (290kw). there are also guys with reasonably stock typhoons getting high 11's. they just do airbox and exhaust mods.
  19. not all s14's have variable cam timing. only the late series 2. you can tell by the lump on the rocker cover. s14 will beat a r32. infact a s13 will beat a r32.
  20. airbox sold pending payment.
  21. the missus has a n15 sss pulsar (used to be mine). with just extractors, 2" exhaust, with centre muffler and rear muffler (not cannon), and a k&n panel filter and it dyno'd at just over 112hp (about 84kw). they torque steer a bit in first gear, but are great fun to drive. and will just beat falcons and commodores. you just have to rev them. without extractors they start to choke at about 5500rpm, but with them they come alive and pull hard till redline (7500rpm). i can't comment on the NA r33, but i think it wouldn't be as fun as the pulsar. will also add that the pulsars are very reliable.
  22. i also have the stock suspension free which will come with the car.
