  1. you are going to be looking at close to $2000 for just the motor. a front cut is closer to $3500 because they are rather rare at the moment. warranty will depend on where you get it. most places won't offer one.
  2. just get the standard size mesh from autobarn or super cheap. if you go too fine you will restrict airflow.
  3. for anyone wanting to compare a race car with no bov to a road car, consider the following- using qld raceway as an example, a race car will lift of from wide open throttle 6 times (there's 6 corners isn't there). now if you take your car to the track, on a flying lap, from the start of the straight to the start of turn 2 you will have lifted off the throttle more times than that. race cars don't lift off on gear changes. most don't even use the clutch. so why would a race car need a bov? the slowly wind the accelerator on just after they turn the car into the corner, so if there is any extra lag from not having a bov, it doesn't worry them as they don't really have any on/off throttle aplications.
  4. stick it on and go for a drive. listen out for pinging. i have a remapped ecu in my 33. no speed limiter, no rich and retard, higher rev limiter, and runs a bit leaner than the stock ecu. at 11psi it sits at 12.0-1 at around 3500rpm then slowly drops to 11.5-1 at 7000. it would be wise to put the car on a dyno after you have installed it to check the afr's.
  5. could be the wiring harness also. and a very very slim possibility is that the ecu is dead. my mate had a problem where he could not get number 6 to spark. tried new coils, wiring harness, plugs, everything. it turned out his ecu had melted a hole in the chip when he'd tried wiring up some msd coils.
  6. holy shit, did you read any of the replies? seems that there are a few people with them that aren't having problems.
  7. what boost are you planning on running? if you are only going to be running up to about 12psi then just get one of the turbotech ($22) controllers. i run my car at 14psi with one and it works well.
  8. if you ever go to court and they show a tape recording of your conversation, you can have it dismissed as you were never told that you were being recorded, and did not give your permission. or you just ask them the moment they pull you up if they are recording you. if they say yes say that you don't give them permission to do it, or pull your own recorder out so you have a copy of it. another good thing to do is the moment they pull you over ask for their badge number, and right it down. they will generally behave a bit better since they know that if they do anything wrong you know exactly who they are when you make a complaint.
  9. a guy got defected in a brand new patrol ute because the number plate wasn't visible from 45 degree up. it had factory tray and the number plate was positioned in the factory holder. you can get defected fro trimming the front bar to get the cooler in.
  10. i was out there for a little while. was rather boring to watch. they put a bus on the skidpan. got the inside wheel to spin, but no sideways action. should've welded the diff up. i or 2 good drivers out there. warren in the stagea was good, as was a guy in a vl turbo, and a guy in a 5.0L falcon. aaron in his r33 must've had rather bald tyres as it would spin the wheels pretty much at idle. i still don't understand why people go out to skid pans in a car with an open wheel diff. it makes life much harder, and less fun.
  11. the going price for a 5 speed rb25 box is about $1000-$1500. give a few of the jap wreckers a call.
  12. i use an x-force 3" off ebay. works well. don't go for a straight through pipe unless you are willing to pay the price if you get pulled over and they notice you have no cat.
  13. otherwise open the boot, and on the passengers side under the carpet there is a hole (where some cars have their jack). check down in there. i pulled out a matchbox car, some makeup, and a few other random pieces of junk from previous owners.
  14. flange size isn't an issue. i had a 3.5" cat back coming off a 2.5" cat with not problems.
  15. firstly, how many litres are you talking about as a full tank? secondly, how 'spirited' is your driving? thirdly is it city (where you may be sitting in traffic for a bit) or highway? all of these (especially the first one) will determine whether your economy is good or not.
  16. otherwise any 3" cat is going to be better than what you have.
  17. you have a vacuum leak. you should probably be able to hear a leak that big. pop the bonnet with the car running and listen for a sucking sound.
  18. on the r33 they are towards the outside of the headlights. you have to squeeze your hand down into the gap and twist the bulb out.
  19. yes, the stock bov is located just before the throttle body.
  20. not all of autometers air/fuel gauges are for narrow band only o2 sensors. you should still get movement on your gauge though. i have 1 in mine and when i fllor it it goes into rich, and when i back off it goes to lean.
  21. i would either go a hobbs switch or just an intake temp sensor. i wouldn't do it as ambient vs intake, otherwise on a 40 degree day you are going to have very high temps before the spray starts, and on a cold day you are just wasting water.
  22. well done. have to give this a try next time i'm bored enough to take my coils out. you could also use some sand paper wrapped around a skinny screw driver then spin it between your hands as if you are trying to start a fire. and if you don't have an air gun, a push bike pump with a ball needle, or even just blowing through a straw.
  23. another possibility is the aac valve. it is a common cause of hunting.
  24. in the ryco book they show 2 possible filters for r33's, the z201 and the z200. they are very similar, the z201 is just fractionally smaller, but they both have a straight top, not L bend. you wouln't want to use an L bend anyway due to the location. the car had a valvoline vf6 on it which is interchangable with a z200, so thats what i used. the filter is located on the drivers side strut tower, about half way down. about level with the starter motor (under the plenum). another easy way to stop fuel loss is by using the little caps that come on the filter as plugs in the hose until you get the filter in.
  25. there are actually 12 studs. 2 per cylinder.
