  1. yes it is short, but whenever i've driven it, it has never had traffic on it.
  2. but since it was her fault there is little that they can do to deny you a claim.
  3. what are the symptoms? what do you mean by the fuel starts cutting out on you? other possibilities are that the spark plugs are dead, or injectors are dirty.
  4. how far are you driving each? if you are only driving short distances then that will be part of the problem. the car is still in cold start so it is running richer. also if you are doing city driving where you stopping and starting a lot then that has an effect too. remember that the car is still using fuel while it is sitting there idling.
  5. it could be to do with the boss kit. i wish i could put an aftermarket wheel on but i have an airbag. also if you are in qld, make sure that the diemeter of the wheel is bigger than 350mm, and not less then 25mm smaller than the stock. they are the legal requirements in qld. not sure about other states though.
  6. just take off in second. thats exactly what it would be like.
  7. there are also a few things you can do to help the life of the stock turbo at higher boost. you can run colder plugs to drop the temps slightly, and richen the afr's up. this also drops the temp. richening up the mixtures does drop the power, but if you are winding the boost up by a fair bit over the previous setting you will still see a power gain.
  8. find the diy about hooking up a safc. that shows you where the rpm signal is.
  9. it isn't so much a rate of how much pressure. a bigger turbo can flow more air at a lower pressure, so the pressure it could take is partly determined by the turbo. if you run that turbo on 14psi, it will be well within the stock motor's capabilities and give you good power.
  10. fuel economy depends on how you drive it. i drive rather 'spiritedly' and i get about 16-17L/100k. i have full exhaust, pod, frount mount and 14psi. that is city driving. on the highway (even if its just 80kmh zones) it drops to about 11L/100k.
  11. heard about that a while back. they are also going to make one for circuit racing. i'd hate to see the effect that doing that has on the dyno.
  12. i have a monza racing seat mounted on a office chair base that i purchased from autobarn. i'd like to make a bracket coming of it to mount pedal and steering wheel, so it feels like a proper car. but im too lazy. i would love a cockpit.
  13. will do tonight. i know a few off the top of my head. the lsd is stock, downforce is set to max, gear ratios are stock, but the one that shortens or lengthens them is set to about 9, suspension is the stock racing suspension setup, no brake controller, traction contol set to 1, understeer set to 7, oversteer set to 3. this makes you go into the corner sideways, then you just gently get on the gas and drive out of the corner well. also think about how your line out of that corner affects the next corner. this is only really important for corners 2-3 and 3-4. that 51 second lap was a freak lap. i don't think i could do it again. i could do the low 52's again, but not the 51. i also found switching off the ghost helps a little, simply for the fact that if you get a slightly worse run out of one corner it blocks your vision of the braking spots.
  14. also in turn 3, brake earlier so you accelerate through the corner rather than out of it. you should come out of it in the middle of the road, not out on the ripple strip. this gives you a better run into turn 4 and you don't slide so much. i use the fast in, fast out technique for cornering. i don't take nice even bends. i turn them into double apex turns. you end up with higher tops speeds at the end of the straights. also if i don't get a good run out of the last corner, i don't bother trying for the next lap. i'll putt around and focus on getting the best run out of the last corner so that i cross the start line as fast as posible.
  15. and i did beat it!!! a 52.033, followed up straight away by a 51.474. in a r34 gtr (its bayside blue, maybe if it was red i could go faster) on soft street tyres, no nos, but with a wing. turns out i had been hitting the limiter in 6th down the back straight. i had been too busy looking for the braking marker that i hadn't noticed. i have just been on fire all night. i had done heaps of 52.8 and 52.9's. over the past few days i have probably done over 300 laps. tonight alone i have done at least 80 laps. i think that is all i can do. i really don't tink i can go any faster on street tyres with that car.
  16. well i see your 52.693 and raise you with a 52.529. then i use my special ability and get a 52.174. i'm on fire tonight. the 52.174 seem like a slow lap cause i wasn't all over the place. did finish it on the grass though. got on the gas a bit early out of the last corner. don't think i'll be able to get any better than that, but going to try!!
  17. here's some pics. not the greatest pics, but they show it. also those wheels aren't on the car. just borrowed them for a while. also want to get a different grill.
  18. lambos and ferrari's generally get about 100kmh out of first (i know the lombo diablo gets just over 100kmh). my r33 gets about 60kmh. as did my old 180sx, and my old falcon, and my old SSS pulsar. i get just over 100 out of second. my first gear is for burnouts and parking untill i get tyres that have more grip.
  19. slotted rotors chew through pads and make them create more dust.
  20. tramlining isn't just caused by wider tyres. the individual tyre can cause it too. on my 180sx it would pull when you hit bumps. put new tyres on and it stopped doing it.
  21. my mate got wheels for his 33 in brissy at bob jane. they tried about a dozen sets on and only 1 or 2 didn't hit the calipers. damn those big brakes.
  22. i also have never heard of balancing being done on a car. if your rotors have worn uneven, then you would get the vibration when you get on the brakes, but not when driving. and to fix that you just get them machined.
  23. what sort of muffler do you currently have? yes mufflers do restrict. for example, zoom magazine did a test where they got a stock xr6 turbo. they did pressure tests with the stock mufflers and found by removing the centre muffler they gained about 17kw. the restriction at 5500rpm with both mufflers was 0.414bar. when they removed the centre muffler it dropped to 0.207bar. so it halved. but these are stock mufflers which are more restrictive than aftermarket ones. if you have a 3" system and it isn't a cannon but still is a straight through muffler, then don't bother changing it. the difference would be little.
  24. you are correct. that is the pre-tensioners.
  25. them sounds like fighting words LOL
